In term of money, yes, it beats Sonic 3 a lot.

In term of quality, well ... that's debatable.
I don't enjoy Minecraft movie, Sonic 3 is still the best for me, but then again I'm not a Minecraft player so I could be biased.
The Minecraft movie made me regard Jack Black more of a manchild than I prefered. Everything about the movie felt lazily written. But the fact cinema's were still packed with fans and brainrotted youths had me concerned.

Every generation had their own tastes.
They don't have to match ours.
Still when it's a bad taste, I don't know who to blame.
The kids (their generation) or their parents (our generation) who raised them to be that way.

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Tops Total Disc Sales for Fourth Week; ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Tops Blu-ray Chart

Quote
Paramount Home Entertainment’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 remained No. 1 on the Circana VideoScan chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, the week ended May 10.
The latest sequel based on the Sega video game series finds Sonic and friends clashing with Shadow the Hedgehog, while Dr. Robotnik teams with his long-lost grandfather to deploy a superweapon against the Earth.
However, while Sonic 3 maintained the overall disc lead in its fourth week on shelves, it was surpassed on the dedicated Blu-ray Disc chart, where it was No. 3, and 4K Ultra HD disc chart, where it was No. 2.
The top seller on both the Blu-ray and 4K charts was ...

Sonic 4 Should Utilize Some Side-Scrolling Action To Honor The Games

Quote
While many fans now know the series for its 3D action, Sonic the Hedgehog started out as side-scrolling platforming adventures focused on speed. This platforming element defines some of the most critically acclaimed Sonic video games, while many of the later entries have been divisive or even critically panned. So, in order to properly honor the original games, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 really needs to utilize some side-scrolling action. The fourth movie can easily use camera placement and perspective to make an action sequence look like the gameplay of the original video games, throwing a bone to the fans. After all, tons of action movies have hallway fight scenes that make them look like side-scrolling beat 'em ups, so it would ...

Sonic Team boss realised that they actually needed to save the Sonic brand

Quote
Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka, says that ten years ago he ultimately came to the realisation that the Sonic brand simply needed saving. Since then we’ve had a successful live-action Sonic movies, the excellent Sonic Mania, and the promising but flawed, Sonic Frontiers.
“Ten years ago, I moved from Tokyo to Burbank. At that time, the Sonic brand was not in a very positive space. A lot of people were bashing on the brand. They really weren’t happy with the things coming out,” Iizuka recalls.
“When I moved over from Tokyo to Los Angeles, it was ..."

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Can't Bring Back Shadow Without Creating Some Problems

Quote
Even though Shadow is initially presented as a villain, he finds redemption by the end of the film and teams up with Sonic to take down Gerald Robotnik. This was a great storyline, but it has been pointed out by many that Shadow completely overshadows Sonic in the third film. This is not ideal since Sonic is obviously meant to be the main character of the franchise. Therefore, if Shadow is brought back in the fourth film, it runs the risk of making Sonic feel like a less important character in the series. A solution to this problem would be to only ...
