In term of money, yes, it beats Sonic 3 a lot.



In term of quality, well ... that's debatable.
I don't enjoy Minecraft movie, Sonic 3 is still the best for me, but then again I'm not a Minecraft player so I could be biased.

The Minecraft movie made me regard Jack Black more of a manchild than I prefered. Everything about the movie felt lazily written. But the fact cinema's were still packed with fans and brainrotted youths had me concerned.

SEGA: Sonic IP growing with new fans!

SEGA has recently released its financial reports and things are looking rosy for the company with Atlus dominating their profits and the long-running Sonic the Hedgehog franchise being extremely healthy and picking up new fans on a daily basis. The company also said that the fast-paced Sonic x Shadow Generations enjoyed “strong sales” when it launched last year and that the brand has seen significant increases in licensing revenues. Here’s the highlights from SEGA:

- Strong sales of SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS
- Strong repeat sales
- Sonic the Hedgehog 3 movie box office surpassed $490 million worldwide
- Distribution of the live-action original drama series Knuckles and extension of views of the past movies
- Significant increase in licensing revenues (140% growth YoY)

‘Sonic the Hedgehog 3’ Tops Total Disc Sales for Fourth Week; ‘Lilo & Stitch’ Tops Blu-ray Chart

Paramount Home Entertainment’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3 remained No. 1 on the Circana VideoScan chart, which tracks combined DVD and Blu-ray Disc unit sales, the week ended May 10.
The latest sequel based on the Sega video game series finds Sonic and friends clashing with Shadow the Hedgehog, while Dr. Robotnik teams with his long-lost grandfather to deploy a superweapon against the Earth.

Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Can't Bring Back Shadow Without Creating Some Problems

Even though Shadow is initially presented as a villain, he finds redemption by the end of the film and teams up with Sonic to take down Gerald Robotnik. This was a great storyline, but it has been pointed out by many that Shadow completely overshadows Sonic in the third film. This is not ideal since Sonic is obviously meant to be the main character of the franchise.
