He didn't, don't you recall? When Dr. Robotnik arrived back on Earth he didn't had any tech, just Knuckles, and went to directly attack Sonic. The only tech he had was his glove which he used to cut the door handle off the Wachowski's door.

When Robotnik and Knuckles failed to kill Sonic, he decided it was time to call Agent Stone.

As you can see, the Egg Mobile was on top of the satellite.

It's likely that the Egg Mobile is using the same hovering technology as the drone badnik but as I pointed out with the Eggpod, the Eggpod was suppose to be the "prototype" and that it needed a lot of energy to function.

If the Egg Mobile is suppose to be a more compact successor of the Eggpod, who made it and when? It couldn't possibly be Dr. Robotnik given he was stranded on the Mushroom Planet the exact same time the Eggpod was destroyed.

If not Stone then it's Robotnik, who else?
May be he created lot of things before his encounter of Sonic, but hasn't need to use them all until now.

Yeah but... in Sonic 1 we have a scene where Dr. Robotnik is surprised by how much power Sonic's quill has and tells Agent Stone to ready the "prototype".

Then Tom took Sonic to Rachels place and then to that San Francisco pyramid and we see Dr. Robotnik flying the Prototype.

So, the only logical conclusion is that given it was called the "prototype", it was the one-and-only, but Dr. Robotnik decides to build the Egg Mobile during Tom and Sonic at Rachels and despite the Egg Mobile being regarded the successor... goes back to the Eggpod. It just doesn't make much sense to me.

My only conclusion is that the Egg Mobile is not really the successor to the Eggpod. I mean, while weaponized it doesn't look as dangerous as the Eggpod. Though it still doesn't explain why it's flight capabilities are more advanced than the Eggpod.

It could be intended. Not as a killer machine like eggpod, but as a distraction machines.

Sonic & Knuckles Surpass $397 Million Globally as Sonic 2 Fades From Theaters

I do suspect this will be Sonic 2’s penultimate box office article until its Japan release later this summer.
Here’s hoping we’ll get to end things by reporting that it’s surpassed $400 million!
That certainly remains quite plausible.

It's on DVD so it's definitely the old one.
The new one would had its appearance on our cinema first.

I hope the new movie will consider at least some ties with Sonic's movie in the long run. Depends if the studio that makes the Yakuza movie has any ties with Paramount.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2's Siberia Scene Was An Improv Acting Showcase

Colleen O'Shaughnessey said, "The best thing was recording that scene in Siberia.
It was so much fun, and they just let us go.
We kept really true to the script for a couple of passes, and then they were just like, 'go for it.'
Especially the parts in the middle where we're bumping into each other, we got to just really go for it, and it was so much fun."

Knuckles Miniseries will transition into the third “Sonic” movie with lots of Easter eggs

"You can’t just make a movie, see how it does and then decide to make another one, because if you do that, it will be years between sequels.
Like “Sonic,” we’re going to take a spinoff character Knuckles and do a miniseries on Paramount+, which will transition us into the third “Sonic” movie with lots of Easter eggs.
That planning is what I’m focused on, as well as filling out the slate with filmmakers that we’re passionate about who want to tell stories that they have passion for."

Eh probably should of said my opinions on this subject here instead of the Sonic thread. Didn't like the dance scene, Altered Beast maybe and Sonic the Series & Knuckles.
