I just blew most of my day off on Playfire.com
« on: January 30, 2011, 05:52:56 pm »
Yesterday went a bit like this:
- get up early
- exercise
- go to work
- head to my best friends birthday party
- perform my duties as designated driver
- be the last one home as a result of said duties.

So today was pretty much planned to be a write-off. I saw a link to Barry's Playfire.com profile on the Dreamcast Junkyard and figured I'd put my game collection on there. Well, that was a few hours ago.
It's nice to have everything cataloged in a manageable way, but it's a bit of a bummer to see so few people from this site on it.
Barry and Max Cady were like the only ones I could find.

It'd be nice to see what games more of you are into without starting up a million "what are your favourite..." topics.

Wait you found my Playfire account? Could you link it for me?

I've been trying to get it, but I can't remember what was my user name.

Update: Holy molly! Thanks a lot! I had completely forgotten about Playfire! Now I got my account back. Yoohoo!

Glad to see more people joining playfire!

It really is the best game collection management site I've found. The key to a good collection management site is making the adding games process as simple as possible. IGN has a collection tool but it blew thanks to how many windows you had to click through. Playfire does the search live and on the same page, so no need to type out the full game. Awesome.

Also, the "shelf" view is a nice visual representation of a collection. My only minor gripe is that the cover art is a little all over the place (some are PAL region, some US region, etc.), wish I could change some art to better reflect what I actually have. [s:11gtofoy]Also, I don't think iOS games are listed yet.[/s:11gtofoy] nm, they are listed. Still, it's great!

@ Soup: nice Dreamcast games you have! Cosmic Smash, SC5 Part 2, Ikaruga and all the Street Fighters caught my eye. Nice.

Thanks man :).
Your Saturn collection's pretty darn impressive. Lots of quality on there.

Triggerheart Exelica, and Under Defeat are the special editions, but I couldn't find different entries on the site.
I'm a bit OCD about used games, so every one of the Dreamcast games was bought factory sealed. It's made a few pretty tough to find. Napple Tale took a long time to track down for a decent price. I think I've got all the Dreamcast titles I'm interested in at this point though.

Yeah! I noticed that! I have a butt load of XBLA titles that need to update. I'm not doing it myself. That's Playfire's job.

@Soup: wowza! So it's "sealed or no deal"? that's hardcore. I got a few sealed games recently, just because they were cheaper sealed than they were used. It was actually a lot of fun to open Daytona USA 2001 over the weekend brand new! Like getting a Dreamcast game off the shelf fresh from the store.

I managed to get most of them for good prices. Shenmue II, and the late release shooters were the only ones that I really paid a lot for.

The only things in my Dreamcast collection that didn't come factory sealed are the SEGA branded maracas. Those were tough enough to track down.

I just started a profile, but a lot of my games are in boxes, so most of the ones I have in my profile are what I want to play until then.

My name on there is Emmett_The_Crab

I've got Emmett added. How's Virtual-On Marz?

@Mademang:
The only Gameboy I remember with a flip hinge is the GBA SP.

^That's the one!

Also, I'm just going through the seemingly random list and adding games as I find them, each page seems to have at least one that I own. This is really addictive like Soup said! I noticed they have different listing for regular and collector's ed sometimes.

I need a better photo of my gaming rig.

THey have a simple "add a game" feature for things they might be missing, the mods were super quick to approve my submissions.

Mademang, wuts your username?

I wish I had a better camera too, but I've uploaded a crappy picture of my setup.

I didn't realize there was a place for a picture of your setup.  Under platforms I wasn't sure if I should put XBOX, PS2, PS1, Gamecube, because I don't own the consoles anymore, but I can play the games.  What's the rule?

Also, can't I put in a star rating without having to write about the game?

Soup: Virtual On Marz is weird and disappointing.  It's like at the time they knew they couldn't make Virtual On Force for a console, but they had to make something, so it's a crippled version of that game.  It's like the one-player Golden Axe on the Master System (You can only play as Ax Battler).
