Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits is the latest Arcade port to Dreamcast

If you guys missed the news post about the latest SNK/Sammy Atomiswave arcade ports to Dreamcast, Dreamcast-Talk user Megavolt85 has been porting the titles over. According to him its rather easy and only needs a few lines of code changed to get them working on the SEGA Dreamcast. He has ported over Metal Slug 6, King of Fighters XI, Samurai Shodown VI, and NeoGeo Battle Coliseum. Now, for his fifth title he choose… Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits? I actually never played the franchise, so I’m interested in trying it.

I do know that the franchise has a ton of entries and this title actually is the fifth release in the franchises history.

You can download the GDI file for the Dreamcast via the Dreamcast-Talk thread. I do know a few of the last few GDI games have gotten CDI (to burn on disc) images as well.

Just want to say that the link for Dreamcast Talk forum is incorrect.
That link is for Samurai Spirits Tenkaichi Kenkakuden, not for Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits.

The ones doing this have just set their own Facebook page up a few days ago and it’s already taken off.

It’s wonderful that Megavolt85 ports these titles for the Dreamcast community. Though I no longer own a Dreamcast, I do appreciate that the community is still incredibly active in releasing content – both brand new and ports of established games – for the console some twenty years after its release. Perhaps someday I’ll get my hands on the console once more and enjoy some of the new content. Until then, I look forward to more games releasing for the console.

Why can’t they port Dragon Force 1 & 2 onto the Dreamcast?

    • OriginalName says:

Because unlike the Dreamcast-based Naomi or Atomiswave, the Saturn architecture is completely different from the Dreamcast. These recent Atomiswave ports only take a relatively small amount of coding to play on a standard Dreamcast — porting a Saturn game would mean coding the entire game over from scratch.

Maybe it could entice them to bring Dragon Force back but with a another part to the series, however I know that it would take a lot to do this👍
