Since the last game came out about 2 years ago. I'm kinda want to see Sega announce a sequel to Overkill or 4 and at least release a port of the 4th game on PS3 as they did with Afterburner Climax. It's been six years since the fourth game was released. Not only that, I would love a remake of the first game. As for the spinoffs, let Z. Revenge be a part of a potential Dreamcat Collection 2 and EX on PS Move and Kinect (That would be so brilliant). So what do you guys think?
-
I was dying to play 4 like 4 years ago.
I would still love it if it is released in an Arcade compilation along with After Burner, OutRun, Rambo or something.
I really don't want Overkill, that was a nightmare.
I wouldn't mind playing HOTD:ex either.
-
Hell yeah! I'd love to see an XBLA/PSN release of HOTD4, and EX released to Kinect. I'd also love a sequel to Overkill.
Next to Sonic and JSR, HOTD is my favorite SEGA franchise. I love the oddball spinoffs like Pinball of the Dead and Typing of the Dead. The main series is, obviously, a lot of fun. One of my local arcades even has a designated HOTD area where they have HOTD2, 3 and 4 all lined up next to each other. Once, I played from one machine to the next, almost as though I was playing a mega game of HOTD.
-
I'm quite convinced that you'll see OverKill 2 announced by the end of the year.
-
^^
i would rather have 4 as a downloadable title with Move & Kinect support. do it SEGA

I would seriously buy Move just to play House of the Dead 4.
-
Supposedly a lot of rail shooters are coming to Kinect. If they do good enough, I really hope SEGA catches on.
-
Speak of the devil. Sega finally announced Overkill Extended Cut.
-
Overkill was a pretty bad lightgun game, peopel might've been satisfied aesthetically with the whole obvious fake exploitation cinema parody direction (not a fan personally... original HOTD stuff was every bit of Italian Zombie exploitation as Overkill was without a fake look to it). But oh boy what a mess what a mess. The yneed to play the original HOTD games a bit more to see how you do your enemy placement, not a fixed camera (yeah move around your view, worthless) horrible and that unsignificant scoring system, numbers for the sake of numbers blah.
Rather see HOTD4 port, while departing from the usual HOTD gameplay, it is actually pretty good, not virtua cop 3 good, but good enough. Larger Zombie quantity and control your uzi with bursts so that you could headshot, reload is also slightly trickier, harder to count the bullets you've shot. Panic bombs are nice addition, it already kinda feels like a shmup now that zombies come in overwhelming forces.

@ loempiavreter: Welcome to the forums. You'll find that people here love Over Kill more then the actual series. We true HOTD fans may actually be a minority here.

I don't even know where you get your facts about our members from anymore...

^I don't know why you think anything cube ever said was based in fact.

So what you guys are no longer in love with Over Kill?
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1275 (http://www.segabits.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1275)
George thinks OverKill is better then HOTD3
Sanus thinkg OK is better then most games in the series.
Sure alot of people disagree with them, so me saying minority perhaps wasn't accurate but we have a strong demographic that prefers OK over WOW Works.
-
When I said most, I meant stuff like Zombie Revenge as well.
I have nothing against WOW, not sure why you are making it sound like that. I just thought games like The House of the Dead III could have been a lot better. The House of the Dead 2 is easily the best in the series. I also much rather play The House of the Dead 4 than a silly retouched version of a Wii game, too.
The only real issue with Overkill is how the bosses become far too easy once you level up your guns enough. In terms of stuff like amount of content, it blows the rest of the series away.

Wait, because some people might prefer one game over the worst in the numbered series, all over sudden means people like Headstrong games stuff more than WOW Works?
You are putting words into peoples' mouths, just because they like this game more than one particular game does not mean they do not like WOW's games.
-
I just took exception to the fact that cube thinks he is a 'true' HOTD fan but everyone else isn't.
Having said that I don't think I'm a true HOTD fan nerd either, since I only have 1, 2 and OK.
-
Yeah I really like HOTD, it brought people together.
I remember going over to a friends place to see HOTD on his PC, we usually used to ride our cycles when we met up but HOTD just made us slaves of the pc, it was an amazing experience.
HOTD2 brought the same magic this time, people came over to my place to check the Dreamcast out. Then I showed people Zombie Revenge which had a gameplay setting called "Bare Knuckles" this was the closest to Streets of Rage 4 we've ever gotten... good times.
HOTD3 never came to the Dreamcast :(, I had to travel to an Arcade in Canada to beat the game, me and my brother cumulatively spent 40$ (over 2 days) unfortunately we couldn't beat the final boss.
I've been dying to play HOTD4, ever since it came out. I bought HOTD3 on the Wii but it wasn't the same as playing it in Arcades or a SEGA system so I didn't play it much.
I got OverKill and while initially amusing the Over "Fuck" just made us sick, and no one wanted to play the damn game.
I would really like to spend some quality time with HOTD3 some day. I thought it was an awesome game in the Arcades, branching pathways that could be selected from the Menu was a new addition to the series - I don't know if 4 offers it, so to me it is the only game that does that.
Why do you feel 3 isn't that good?
Also Sanus Zombie Revenge isn't HOTD, it is a spin off and not part of the main series. Next you'll say you like OverKIll over Pin Ball of the Dead?
-
The Pinball of the Dead is one of my favorites in the series, honestly. I like how weird stuff like The Typing of the Dead and The English of the Dead are. This all are hilariously silly concepts that remain enjoyable throughout. It is a hard series to dislike.
Also you played the first game on PC wtf ur not a fan if u playd it on a pc

Well technically speaking, pc version is closer to the arcade version minus the lightgun...
Saturn version is gimped unfortunately, still my only means to play (with lightgun) this game since the arcade cab hasn't gone down in price like other lightgun games of that era did :(
And don't be hating on Zombie Revenge, it is amazing, and probably the only reason why my Dreamcast is still running regularly now (next to Cannon Spike maybe).
This game is amazingly fine tuned, you have to make use of every secret the game has to offer, as you can see these 2 1cc (no continue run) the game on very hard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psPgJilNbdU
Sure the graphics haven't aged well and the textures suck (graphics smaphics... art direction above graphics). But the game is a right challenge that is fair, an extensive movelist, a well thought fighting system, 3 characters, a huge arsenal of weapons, mucho bosses. It is the best game on Dreamcast that hasn't been ported to other consoles (while being an arcade port of course, but it's the only home port).
I do think that you need an Arcade Stick to enjoy Zombie Revenge since dreamcast pad kinda sucks for it.

HOTD 4 has the same branching setup as 3.

Yeah I really like HOTD, it brought people together.
You played it on PC?
Where else could I play it?
The Saturn was a still born console and retailers here had stopped investing in SEGA products.
Arcades didn't have HOTD.
I was lucky that I still played one of the best games of the Saturn while it was still HOT.

Again, one game in the main series.... doesn't mean I love Overkill more than the first, second and fourth game..
So technically you are bitter and wrong. Stop spouting facts and learn to take opinions. You haven't even played Overkill, so why should anyone here even bother to care about your opinion?

No, there is good and there is evil. You've crossed over to the other side Cube, you're no longer one of us. Take your things and leave, now, while you still can.

I need to play the first game again. They use to have it at my local mall until someone bought the arcade machine. I wish Sega of Japan put something out of there sleeves to bring out their House of the Dead games.
A remake would be nice, I like how they remade Chapter 5 from HotD2 into 4. [youtube:204g5zbu]YijEXr93qCM[/youtube:204g5zbu]
Speaking of HotD4, have you guys gotten a chance to play the Special version?
-
@Kori-Maru:
The only version near me is the original version of 4.
-

Played it at Sega Joypolis in Odaiba, Tokyo. Mostly recycled stuff (it was pretty neat though to feel wind blowing in your back as if Justice is breathing in your neck and the carriage turns around too the second screen on your back and you see Justice).
I've played every HOTD game except for EX. Plus the Konami knock off Hell Night/Evil Night (which is pretty neat, 3 players, 2 handguns, one shotgun long before HOTDIII).

First time I'm seeing HOTD4 in action and....
...it's been quite a few years. 5 to be specific and it has aged I'd still like to play it though.
I didn't feel the rush that I got while playing the first 2 games, the 3rd games Bosses weren't scary and I was playing it in the crowded Arcades.
What really bothered me was the music... is it just me, or it sucks?
-
Wow I remember playing that for a moment bet died real quick. Now that is what I want on my console
The music is allright I think, gotta see some more of it

Played it a couple times with a group of freinds, but I personally hate those Special attractions to games that Sega insist on making. Not surprised why they're not rushing five since the original creator left Sega after the third game and technically the fifth game is meant to be the final part of the series.
