..I don't get it.

Odd, I did a youtube tag. Here is the story:
http://www.ripten.com/2011/06/25/saudi- ... d-screens/ (http://www.ripten.com/2011/06/25/saudi-arabia-has-unearthed-an-uncharted-clone-video-and-screens/)

Oh, the youtube tag. I think you have to put JUST the numbers after v= in the link.
-
You might want to select an easier title for the thread.
Anyway I just want to hear Aki-At's comments.
-
It looks horrible, and the fact its developed in Saudi Arabia is no excuse.
They should have known their limits and developed a small game with their own ideas instead of badly emulating blockbuster franchises.

Aki-at will lament the lack of tigers being punched in the face.

It is going to take a long time for Saudi to catch up to everyone else in terms of game design, but I see a lot of strong will for them to get there sooner than later. All things considered, this is a fairly impressive game if you look at what kind of computers they used and the game development schools they have in the region.
It is a real shame local goverments are keeping down more regions from really making it big in the industry. I honestly believe Germany and Australia could be both bigger than most Asian territories (including Japan) if they did not get so much grief from their higher ups.

I don't think so, you don't need super computers to make games, and besides, we aren't that much behind the tech from the rest of the world as some people might think... I think the studio making the game is just not good.
There has been Saudi indie games that looks a lot better, one game I recently knew about called Shadow Fear is made by a Saudi Guy:

And there was this SHMUP game made for XBLA a while ago by some Saudi people as well... It just takes experience and talent to make them.

Well of course you do not need great computers to make good games. My point is that on a technical level they are still pretty behind and might never catch up to the bigger regions in the industry.
I am sorry I was not more clear, I really believe that there are a lot of really good indie games by Saudi developers.

Well at least its a start. Middle east isnt known for making games. it'd be great f they finally started to play a role in the industry :D
