Get shenmue online out of there, you'll just get random forum lurkers' hopes up. It's never coming out.

Wait, is Vanquish a PS3 exclusive or is this based on that leaked Sony doc?
Title: Re: SEGA Release List
Post by: George on February 15, 2010, 02:17:50 pm
No one knows if its exclusive. Everyone is just going with the fact that it will connect with the PSP.

Post by: Pao on February 15, 2010, 02:27:25 pm
No way its PS3 exclusive (unless they are completely stupid) these kind of games sell most on XB360.

Mikami is known for exclusives. If it is, who cares, as long as the game is awesome.

PREDICTIONS TIME!

GOOD:
Yakuza 3
Aliens CM
Alien CM DS
AfterBurner Climax
Valkyria Chronicles 2
Nepoleon: TW
Yakuza 4
ToeJam & Earl
Sega AllStar Racing
7th Dragon
Infinite Space
Vanquish

BAD:
Tournament Of Legends
Iron Man 2
Sonic Classic Collection

COULD GO EITHER WAY:
Aliens vs Predator
Sonic 4 Ep1
Resonance of Fate
Alpha Protocol

LET IT GO, IT'S CANCELLED!
Silicon Knights title
Shenmue Online
Title: Re: SEGA Release List
Post by: Nathan on February 15, 2010, 06:57:57 pm
I could let those go, but I won't. The Silicon Knights thing has been around for about as long as CM, and they [SN] may have just pushed it to the backburner for some months. Or it may be ultra epic and take 5 years to make. I won't remove unless I hear some solid news, same with Shenmue Online.

Early impressions of Sonic Classic Collection make it sound as though it will be in the "Good" category.

Is anyone expecting Iron man 2 to move from the bad category?
I know i'm not...

High Voltage is working on it, right? Or are they just doing the Wii version? Either way, their version is bound to be at least slightly better than the original, right? The Conduit wasn't an awful game, just average, from what I heard.

Yeah conduit wasn't bad, it did get a bit dull though. I think the setting and all was okay and could have worked, but it ended up feeling a bit ho-hum. The Multiplayer was supposed to be very good though.

I wouldn't say their version will necessarily be the best though, we haven't seen anything of the games yet, and I have no idea how well it will translate to Wii.

Mikami also hates Sony management with a passion. This isn't an exclusive. Also Mikami's operation just doesn't have the money to develop for the PS3 multiformat or exclusivly, that's why they need a big backer like Sega to handle that side for them. If were going by what the document said remember it said that was an option sega could look into, not necessarly what they agreed to. If were gonna take what the document said then we might as well just come to the conclusion that Aliens Colonial marines and Vanquish are also coming out on the PsP.Which could be a possibility.

SK project was announced long before CM and it was meant to be released before now. Sega and Hayes canned most of Simon Jeffery's sega projects that he greenlit. But on the other side of the argument the title was hit by a lawsuit which would have hampered any type of release. Anyway SK is supposed to be unveiling something this year. Shenmue Online? Sega china doesn't exist as a game maker anymore, all their titles are being distrubuted by someone else and So was passed on for the time being.

Either way The Conduit did ok enough for Sega to back Legend of Tournaments and The Grinder which has now been made into a multiformat title and the rest of the games in the contract with HV. Not suprised really since Sega's investment in these titles are miminal compared to any inhouse or contract development partnership deals.

Virtua Tennis? Which version is this? VT3 with online functions or VT 2009?

Edit: I assume it's VT 2009 from the trailer on Amazon Japan. It took a while to get there.

This is as it appears on videogaming247 :http://http://www.vg247.com/2011/01/14/sega-puts-out-its-2011-uk-release-schedule/

I'm skeptical about the PS3 version of DC collection that SEGA just today has not included in the press release, but even this seems official... I also think that there will be other, such as PSO2.

It isn't the complete list. It's a list of games officially announced so far.

Although there is a good chance they wont all make it out this year, games like PSO2, Valkyria Chronicles 3, Sonic 4 Episode 2, Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity, Creative Assemblys next action game, Kamiya/Platinum Games next game and the Sonic Anniversary Game have a chance of releasing this year.

Not to mention there will of course be another Football Manager and while I doubt it theres always a chance it wont take them over a year to translate Yakuza of the End.

Theres bound to be some other unannounced games in the mix too... Dreamcast DLC games etc.

Well i got a couple, treat them as rumours for now

ALIENS CM got delayed was because of the Wii U version, management want the games released at the same time for all systems which wasn't going to happen if it held onto the previous schedule.

The next SegaXPlatinum games will be reveled this year for an early to mid 2013 release.

Y5 may and i stress may but it seems likely that it will get a similar release schedule to BD IE it could be out within a few weeks months after the japanese release. Told this is the big gun in which they want the title to make some sort of splash in the west, we shall see if this is true.

BD = Binary Domain
IE = In other words

There's actually a lot of releases this year towards the end;

Alien: Isolation, Sonic Boom, Valkyria Chronicles PC port, Hatsune Miku Project Diva f 2nd, Football Manager 2014 and the recent Company of Heroes expansion.

Counting in SEGA Japan's release and Atlus' makes the list rather ridiculous.

Yeah it's just me being an ass, also because i've played literally nothing out of the list. Not yet at least. The only one I dd buy so far is valkyria chronicles.

How is SEGA with anouncing games? They usually dont do it a year ahead I think right? Mostly like a couple of months? Just wondering if 2015 still has potential because so far it feels like it may become less.

No, If you're unhappy with Sega's output you are free to say so.  The only title in that list of note is Alien( I already goddamn own VC thanks very much), and guess what; I have never been interested in Sega for games like that.  I'm tired of pretending everything is hunky dory.  It's not.  Creative Assembly and Atlus are great but they're not why I fell in love with this company.  Not by a long shot.

It is a valid point.

However there is quite the difference between "Sega's release list this year is non existent" vs "Sega's release list this year doesn't interest me"

On deals with more or less  factual observation. 6 games alone is a pretty healthy amount of titles in such a short time frame. The second is dependent on opinion and could be ascribed to almost any publisher.

I see it completely differently. The Blood Pack is a purely aesthetic thing, makes no difference to the overall gameplay, whereas factions are an integral part of the game. They are basically locking out a huge portion of the game as a pre-order bonus that used to be free, it's just disgusting behaviour.

EDIT: Has Sega turned into one of the bad guys? Are they just EA, but with less popular games?

Sega's EA like DLC policies only seem to affect TW.

Empire had elite units(a ton of them)
Shogun had the clan packs.
and Rome 2 is faction packs.

I just don't bother with the DLC outside of things like the Warpath campaign. Now however I can't justify a day one purchase of TW anyway. So I'll just now wait...just like I do for other publishers...for the "complete" version of future TW games.

No need for such a combative post, as JRCade said, there's a difference between SEGA isn't releasing the type of games I enjoy vs SEGA isn't releasing any content. This topic has never made a distinction from SEGA's Japanese titles vs their acquired studios or titles produced for their regional divisions.

EDIT: Has Sega turned into one of the bad guys? Are they just EA, but with less popular games?

You either die a hero like THQ or live long enough to see yourself become the bad guy like EA.

Although personally I don't think so it's fair to compare a publisher who has a mixed bag to one that has had consistently screwed over it's customers. Besides it's sadly the norm in the industry now : (

Aliens had a Season Pass and Company of Heroes 2 while not as bad as entire factions being cock-blocked, also has a lot of gameplay altering DLC locked out.

Eh, even THQ was selling online passes and other nonsense.

Being the norm doesn't make it 'good'. Sega used to be one of the good guys, now they're just a disgrace. I want to make a patented MadeMan negative thread about this topic and see who agrees and who thinks 'It's okay when Sega does it!'

Don't get me wrong, my : ( was meant to indicate my displeasure at the industry in it's current state since there's no incentive for someone to be a "good" guy. When the likes of Electronic Arts and Activision have grown to be bigger than ever whilst all the "good" guys who stuck by their principles got swallowed up by financial burdens. And now DLCs are seen as acceptable policies and that's never going away, much like paid online for console gaming.

I was in a forum the other day and people were making DLC for fangames, fangames! Just because they wanted to seem like real games. I still think SEGA does a bit more than most to not be as bad as the other publishers, wither taking a massive risk with Alien: Isolation or the free DLCs they provided for Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed and the Typing of the Dead.

Above and beyond cannot describe some of the things CDPR did in the past (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/7.856445-GOG-Accidentally-Gives-Out-Thousands-of-Free-Games-Lets-Users-Keep-Them) and the respect they command.

Quote
"Thank you for your honesty," said the spokesperson, responding to a forum thread where a user felt guilty for snagging 21 free titles. "Yesterday, due to a small glitch on our end, you and a bunch of other lucky people ended up getting games from the Linux Launch promo for free. Don't worry, though, as it's totally cool with us and you may keep them. Yes, we will not be removing these titles from your account and we do hope you will enjoy them! :)"
The spokesperson added that "Of course, if you prefer, like some of our community members, we can always remove [the free games] from your shelf - just let us know replying to this email. Again, there's no problem if you want to keep them :)"
The user who made the initial forum posting bringing the glitch to GOG's attention stated that he wanted his "ill-gotten" games removed from his library, as "I like free but I like GOG more."
