me and my sorry ass begging for a sega console
dem bitches brought out ouya and they didnt even have jack shit of money. they basically begged for money on kickstarter. and now that they have nuff money now they can go on stand alone. and loads of peeps wanting this cheap console wich is also an open console with full privilige given to the owners to hack it the way they want. and even the screwdrivers are given with the order.
and even a free engine is given to make games.
99freaking dollars for an ouya with a joystick. and dont mistake yo. it plays decent games. even better then the wii .
these are the specs in short
NVIDIA Tegra3 quad-core processor
1GB RAM
8GB of internal flash storage, expandable via USB 2.0 port
Up to 1080p HD (via HDMI)
5.1 surround sound
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, and Ethernet port
Bluetooth
Micro USB port
Wireless Bluetooth controller with standard game controls and touchpad
and there is more onto it.
http://www.ouya.tv/
kinda shameful knowing that sega didnt bring out a console. well i hope i can take this back this year if sega has a console on e3. praying for it
-
Eh... I don't see a market for this.
Wii U is over priced, this is better. But they won't make Mario Galaxy type exclusives on it, so why buy it?
-
Hmm... I'll wait and see.
The Android game market is still pretty all over the place, it will be interesting to see how some games might perform. I'd love to play Final Fantasy III on a machine like that.
-
Android is shit. This console is shit. The games are shit.
(man, I'm sending out some weird negative vibes today)
-
Android is a great OS for phones, but a gaming platform? I think that is where its weakest.
-
Android is a great OS for phones
Unless you want a phone that actually works properly.
I dunno, this whole Ouya thing seems rubbish. It feels like an overpriced chinese mock up of a console.
-
give it a chance man. the controls have touch screen as well. and the shizz is only 99 dollars which isz approxximately 79 to 82 euro
come on guys. sega will bring games out for it plus its open source and its allowed to be hacked by the creators. the games are just a motivation. and probably all games will be hacked and its fine cause gamemakers are satisfied because of the share of profit.
this is ment to be succesfull. u even get the engine to make games and all that. so besides games ull mos def get loads of free games.
bear in mind they might be full of commercials. but that could be hacked as well
u got to appreciate this
and android is an os. megadrive didnt even have an os. dreamcast had just a simple windows ce.
its not about Os guys its about what games come on it. and there are plenty games on youtube bout ouya console. u gotta love the graphics
-
It could be 30 bucks, it would still be a waste of money.
-
i ordered one turns out to be precise 76.86 euro. paypalled it. waiting for it to come.
its not a waste of money its a huge evolution of the console. u should know this is a a terrific basic console with open source hackable specs. this is going to be a massive thing. its a small ube fitting anywhere
-

I have a phone and the phone works wonders. I have used iOS and hate it. Have you used Android 4.0+? I know friends that hated Android 2.3, but when they try 4.0+ they talk about how they regret getting iPhones.

Actually I have yet to try out a 4.0 phone. My experience with Android goes up to 3.0 and it was nothing but regret and disappointment. I also dislike iOS. It's good for tablets, bad for phones.
Currently I'm using WP 7.5. It's great, and WP8 is even better. Great focus on the most important aspects of the phone bit in "smartphone".
~~~
The standardization of the Android platform in regards to gaming is a good thing. Right now the devs go crazy with the fragmentation of Android's user base, so the Ouya could set some standards and smooth things up. But I don't think it'll be anything more than a novelty.
-
Seems we got ourselves a fancy Windows Phone user here, boys...
Anyway, I do see some potential in the Ouya. At 99 bucks with the specs that semmie posted, it might be arguably one of the best entry level consoles and truth be told there are a lot of great games on the Android platform right now, some of 'em would be fairly easy to play with a controller.
One of the major drawbacks of the Play Store is that, unlike the iOS service, is a friggin' jungle filled with identical clones of existing titles, from I understand Google's very lax with submissions and the Mobile Interface is just horrible to look at.
-
If fragmentation is an issue on Android, then why don't more developers create games on Windows Phones? Aren't they facing the same exact thing? What with having a ton of phone makers and specs? Not to mention OS7/8?
-
I've never had an android device, but I've heard that complaint before. Also I think there are more developers on ios because there are fewer hardware/software configurations to deal with. When you download a game, does it tell you what version of Android and which devices are supported, or do you find out after you download it?
-
Yeah, that's the main issue... Android is an open-source OS, which means that mobile phone developers like Samsung can just tweak it to suit their hardware and such apps that work on say the Samsung Galaxy SIII might not work on other platforms.
The Play Store does tell you which games and apps are compatible with your device based on hardware and OS version. But sometimes Google Play messes up, I've had games that were listed as being compatible with the ZTE Blade, only to download them and the game crashes upon entry. For commercial they do give you a refund, in those situations.
I never said WP was a good platform for games. I said it was a good phone.
I still think that games need a gaming based platform. Not some adaptation of mobilephone software and API
Yep, iOS is attractive because its simple. One phone, one operating system. You basically know what phones you can or can't support (newer vs older).
Tho on Android there isn't too much issue, not as much as people make it out to be. Most Android phone use Nvidia's Tegera or Qualcomm. Most games get exclusive releases on Tegera then later to other devices, this is more to do with consumers buying Tegera devices (AKA MONEY BAGS).
So if you get a good phone (costing 150-200) you will be able to play mostly anything just fine. Android has about 95% of iOS' games, so I don't think fragmentation is an issue. IF you get a free or 20 dollar phone, of course its going to suck. But at least you get to use apps like twitter/facebook/instagram. Don't expect a free/budget android phone to compete with iPhone 5's and stuff.
Its like people getting and iPhone 3GS and expecting to play all the new iOS games.
Also I don't really play phone games, mostly because I don't like touch screens that much.
-
look u may have ps3 in living room
and ouya happens tto be that consolein your slleeping room when u do other things then getting layed o sleep
-
Though I might get one of these when it gets rooted so I can run XBMC on it. :)
Ah, I think the lack of games argument is lame. i used to hear that all the time about the Mac too, but really most of the big, good games were on Mac, so it was a kind of crap filter. I could see it being the same with Android.
I really like ios, and am too deep in the Apple ecosystem to ever switch to android, but I am curious about it.
-
I'm stuck in the Android ecosystem for sure. I really don't like iTunes, its one of the reasons I didn't get the iPhone. I don't like the idea of it making me use itunes to manage my music. That's just me tho.
-
it is said in may or so ittl be on stores. and july the whole world. that means they got units in the millions.
so wheres sega now then? all we have is a moderator clumsyorchid on sega.com trying to make people hate sega.
while ouya managed to to with 8 million dollar. not 8 million euro aight
. and they found sponsors such as android supporting them. and many famous game makers wanna join themin. honestly how does this make u feel ? and when u see ouya get really really succesfull. then how will you feel then?
ANSWER ME PLEASE ALLYA
-
my phone is android, really cheap phone though, lol but that's okay. I didn't want to get myself stuck in a contract plan. it does everything I need it to do, and it has really decent battery life for a smartphone, probably a plus side of having one that's not super powerful.
I'll play games on a tablet.
-
Who's your service provider?
My brother has Stright Talk and was going to get a dumb phone. I got him on Ebay a almost new HTC phone. Its like.... a year old? Has like 750mb of ram, pretty good display and plays all of the games he wants (he really only plays that cutting rope game and Angry Birds. He has a Vita/3DS)
It was like 80ish dollars. Not bad.
virgin mobile
this is the phone i got
http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-v/#overview
lol, it can play simple games like the ones you mentioned, and sonic cd, and sonic jump, but not much beyond that, but that's okay. lol
although my phone is all black and looks pretty sleek, it's not that ugly color on that page.
-
That isn't that bad. I'm sure it could run Sonic Dash type stuff.
-
it has slowdown on sonic jump, no way it would run SOnic dash
-
i cant play sonic dash on a 3gs but i can play infinity blade 2
wtf. sonic dash looks so bad graphics wors then infinity blade how come its slow?
-
Sonic Dash you are running through a world that's fairly big, even if it is on rails.
Infinity blade you are just in one location and never move.
-
Sonic Dash you are running through a world that's fairly big, even if it is on rails.
Infinity blade you are just in one location and never move.
that makes sense
my logic was basically
infinity blade 1 gig plus is graphics waaaaaaaay more beautiful plus deep and extensive long gameplay
sonic dash 38mb graphics decent but they remind me kind of temple run. but fast rate is extremely high
so i focused to much on game size and the unreal engne and what it does. but the coding and gameprocess is different.
speaking of the ouya. it must be the game console to have. it just is a kickstart LOL. who knows what their succes will be they make things cheap. and in return you play games such as counter strike source. aint that the chillest thing honestly?
-
I predict that the Ouya will have about as much success as the TurboGrafix 16 did. While the major consoles are at war, this system will just be on it's own and they will not release any future consoles like it. This will probably be Boxer8's only console. I do not see why people keep thinking Ouya will be a major console. There is also another console to be made by Valve that will not be too successful, but it might be more successful than Ouya.
-
well we dont know for sure huh? u are assuming something that may be truth perhaps.
but it hasnt happened yet what u said
the fact is that ouya is getting rel and lods and load peeps allready ordered the tiny big console.
so to prove your point is right we will have to wait for the outcome
turbografx is whole different ballgame. i wonder why u compare that
the TG16 did it's own thing while the big boys competed for glory. The Ouya will never stand even close to the PS4 or MS's console.
That's my point exactly. The TurboGrafix 16 was just in the background of the Genesis and Nes/Snes. The Ouya is not competing with Sony or Microsoft, so it will not have as much success as Sony or Microsoft. Most people that I have talked to have not even heard of Ouya. It's going to start out at $99. That tells you that it is not as good as the other consoles, which will probably sell for just a little over the WiiU. The price of that console was $299.99. That information is coming from Wikipedia.
-
that point is only to be truth if it actually really happens.
its a prediction
-
I backed the system on Kickstarter, and can't wait to see what it can do. I don't feel like spending $200+ for a decent Android tablet that will be painfully obsolete in 4 months. Most of that cost is going into the screen, battery, and cameras. Touch screen gaming only works for a small amount of genres, so I'm happy to see tablet tech that plugs into my TV and has a controller. I have a Droid X for a phone, so I haven't been able to play any recent 3D games on the market, and Ouya will handle them with ease (for now).
I'm becoming more into indie games at the moment, and Ouya will thrive with that market since every console is essentially a development console. I also don't have time for 40+ hour games anymore, so give me the bite-sized experiences that offer replay value over first-time play through.
-
I can not prove my point until the Ouya is released. You can also not prove yours. You are making a prediction too. We can either debate the console's success on here, until the Ouya is either popular or not or we can just wait to see which person is right about our predictions.
-
and your point is?
that is indeed truth. but the fact is that it is getting real. will it be succesfull is a prediction ;)
i would love something to be on earth rather then sony ms and nintendo.
your right on that. but ive seen some comparisons on utube . the difference of the new processor and the old are major. it is becaus eof that why it is cheap ofcourse. it is the mobile processor minus the portability of a mobile and minus the carries function to call.
so no wonder it is cheaper.
but history has proven that a weak console can do wonders. as for example the ps1 was getting really old and was becoming weaker and weaker for its time. but games kept coming out cause the game devs made something possible on the ipmpossible.
however the ouya has many basics of nowadays to play really decent games.
the question ofcourse is how many games will come out on it. will the android os update frequently or will they screw us by saying that next year will be another ouya. but i doubt they would do that since it is suicide
The PS1 was the best selling console of its time. You can not compare it with the Ouya because the PS1 was made by a company that actually had a chance of creating a chain of consoles. It was different than other consoles because it had new accessories and hardware that no one had ever seen. The Ouya is based off of mobile phones, which we already have.
-
The absurdity of the arguments in favor of the Ouya just makes it's flaws painfully obvious.
-
I don't know much about the Ouya, but won't it put a bunch of games made for a touch screen on your TV, which is not a touch screen?
-
u r going out of context and different direction hillbilly
i ment that the power of ouya is a comparison to ps1 in its last term of living.
ps1 got old but games still came out and even tho ps2 was there and dc. the ps1 tried hard to still make the games appealing to the people
ouya her power is good enough to have respectfull games.
u see nowadays when graphics reached it peak and ouya is a bit better then the wii especially knowing that android got loads of games wether original or clones. its an open source anyway.
therefor the comparison of being a weak or i rather say a generation half behind doesnt really bother people.
the price tag is low. the graphics are nice. the games are nice. the controller is nice and has a mousepad in the middle. u can internet and browse on that thing.and u can add ur usb or ext hd.
the ouya is nothing like turbografx
and for the ps1 again i dont speak of the degree of succefulness but i speak of decent graphics with inovative tweaking can do major difference.
u gotta admit that 3ds is not that of a graphics machine. moreover it appeals as the old ds. the difference is in the 3d screen.
then why is ouya not gonna be succesfull?
ok well i dont know if its gonna be such a massive console. but it is a welcomed item to the industry
I think I'm the only one that is excited for its XBMC and emulator uses. OoooooOOoOOOooooo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=QB-H4j9hfLE#t=125s
Oh maaaaaannng... I have been waiting for the Apple 3 to be hacked to do this. I think the Ouya is a better value if you want XBMC.
-
IGN posted a "new" Gameplay footage for several Ouya games, which as expected a lot of 'em are simply put Android games running on a "desktop" console.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAVAL1UPLTU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAVAL1UPLTU)
Final Fantasy III is the one out of all of 'em that I really want to play, especially since it's an enchanced port.
