Title: XBOX 360 Help!
Post by: Emmett The Crab on May 29, 2013, 12:43:48 am

My XBOX 360, when I turned it on today, has a flashing green light.  The drive door won't even try to open, and there's a game stuck in there.  I can still play XBLA games, but I can't get the door open to get the game out, or put a different game in.

Would the HD-DVD Drive attachment allow for a surrogate disc drive, or is that only for movies?  I don't have any money to replace the console, or even repair it right now.

Thanks George.  They should make the paperclip hole location more obvious.  And I looked it up, the HD-DVD drive only plays movies, not games, so strike my question about that.

Have you checked if all the cables are properly connected to the back of the console? Mine would refuse to start up if they weren't.

Thanks to that video I got the game out, but the optical drive is definitely dead.

Yeah, mine died too. Seems to be a trend with 360's..

They are intentionally dying to make way for Xbox One.

i wouldn't be surprised.
Anyway, you can get drives for cheap on the net, but at this point you're better off just getting a new (or used) one.

Yeah, its just a cheap drive on the phat ones. I guess there is a reason why the 360 was 200 dollars less than a PS3 at launch and a bit more powerful. Tho the newer design looks sexy.

There was an article about how Xbox One controllers should last you a decade. I never question Microsoft's ability to make a controller, I question their ability to make a problem free console.

It seems like the newer XBOX 360's are much better, but I never had one of those.  Also, I never had any trouble with the original XBOX either, but the first 360, this is the 5th time it's broken for me.

I considered getting a new model 360, but I'm going to wait and see if MS is actually releasing a tiny disc free 360 that connects with the Xbox One. If that's the case, then it wouldn't make sense to buy a new 360 when down the road the One could play 360 games.

Hopefully it can also support XBOX one Original games as well.
