Title: Sonic Adventure for XBLA Footage hits the 'tubes
Post by: Barry the Nomad on April 18, 2010, 09:08:41 pm
It doesn't look too shabby! Actually quite smooth! Not widescreen (it's obviously stretched) but looking better that I had thought it would.

The dipshit who made it does this fast forward nonsense at the beginning.

How does he still have blades?

Edit: Okay, since you're so mad about me commenting on the blades...

The game looks okay, might skip it but we'll see.

Looks good, the nostalgia alone would be worth the price of admission.

Video's been taken down, but somebody in the comments noted that the game has the original Dreamcast menu screens, not the shitty Gamecube DX menus. So at least the game isn't a direct port of the PC/GC version.

Why Sega is porting this thing when we know that they are planning a package with all the entire Sonic titles to commemorate his anniversary? Sounds pointless for me.

 Whatever, I don't own a XB anyway.

I think the Sonic anniversary package is a load of bull. No way would Sega give fans every single Sonic game in a 1-2 blu-ray disc set when they could charge more for individual download releases. Not to mention the price would be so high that only crazy fans would buy it and even then, that same target audience already has 95% of the Sonic games that would be in the compilation.

Sega would be better off to simply release SA1, SA2 and Sonic CD. The rest of the games can be played on the 360 and PS2/3.

Tell me that someone downloaded the video on their PC?

I failed to DL it before it was pulled, however this older leaked video is still on YouTube:

Old version:

The new (pulled) video was much smoother than the one above, and textures looked better. Also, the menus WERE different. The one above features DX menus, while the one in the newest video was Dreamcast-era menus. Also, Sonic didn't look as shiny.

edit: found it:

So I think I've sorted some things out. I may be wrong, but I'm probably right. ;)

The game will be downloadable as Sonic Adventure, with the Dreamcast title screens and all the features found in the Dreamcast original (however the character models will be from DX). The total achievement score of the basic game will be 200G

Sonic Adventure DX will be available as DLC. Downloading DX will change the title screen and menus to the ones found in DX. Additions will include the 60 missions and Metal Sonic (whether he is available from the start or must be unlocked with all emblems is unknown). Downloading DX will allow players to receive an additional 50G.

How do I think I know this? Well, we've seen both DX and Dreamcast menu screens in leaked footage. DLC is confirmed per the Dreamcast-style title screen. The usual XBLA release is 200G achievement score, however SA has 250G. The last three achievements total 50G and are DX specific (Emblems, Metal Sonic, missions).

I was wondering about the 250g this morning, thanks.
