He looks fucking fantastic.  We've come a long way from that ugly 06 based Brawl model.

Gotta say I was pretty worried. But to see sonic looking so great, with the addition of a sonic lost world level. Awesome reveal!

Oh goody! Sonic is in another Nintendo brawler on a console most people here have been declaring dead or stating they wont get. And here's the best news of all! He's going to fight Mario! And ...no wait the real best thing is that he's not appearing in a fighter with other famous and niche Sega characters made by Sega released in the west and ignored in Japan or vice versa depending if Sumo Digital is involved, bottom line one part of Sega fandom will be ignored. WHY? Because SOJ is more intrested in distrubuting a game to coincide with the 20th anniversary of a japanese light novel publisher featuring characters and Sega characters that are big with that otaku base and will never EVER be released in the west, at least by Sega despite what some may have us believe. So yes, lets celebrate Sonic appearing in SMB...

Was there any doubt he wasn't in after the shocking news that he's on Nintendo consoles?

I figured he was going to be revealed in October to coincide w/Lost World, I didn't expect him to be shown this early, though.
