I'll be attending New York Comic Con this Friday to pay a visit to the SEGA Community Team. I'm not sure what other games they will have other than Sonic Lost World but they are hosting a panel with Hardlight Studios this Sunday about recreating the SEGA franchises to the mobile world.
Any questions for me to ask Sega of America?

If you get a question in, you totally have to name drop SEGAbits.
As for questions... Maybe ask them their thoughts on referencing past games, and if they think it is more important to recreate content from previous titles to draw on nostalgia, or create new content to make the game its own unique entry in the series.
-
Ask whether Hardlight would be up for localising Valkyria Chronicles 3 for the west.
Failing that, just make a VC game in general.
-
It's so frustrating to not be able to go to NYCC this year. I'd love to go to NYCC again; I've got to go back some time. I'll try and think of something, and edit later.
edit:
Some of you guys have covered questions that I would've wanted to ask (Heritage line, Valkyria Chronicles 3, Yakuza 5) so I'll say this
--Will the recent purchase of Atlus affect Sega's operations in the US? Have Sega West and Atlus USA been in contact with each other yet?
--What sort of involvement can we expect from Sega West in future Atlus titles? Should we expect to see coordination, or will the two branches operate with relative independence of each other (regarding such things as handling of IPs, products, marketing, etc.)?
--What do you, (whoever being interviewed), currently want to do most as someone who works for Sega? What might you want to see from Sega if you feel like there's some sort of opportunity waiting to be seized? This can be anything beyond just having a certain game made: including things such as perhaps an idea for a community event or gaming media event, a franchise resurrected or moved to other platforms, another Sega icon being given a float at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or Saturday morning cartoon, etc.
--Considering that Valkyria Chronicles 3 has yet to be released in the West, how did UDON secure distribution of the Artbook? Was it any different than the legal work for previous titles which had been localized?
--Sakura Wars 1-4 should be localized for the West: Yes or Agreed?
---------
I'd like to close this by saying that I think this panel, while having a QA session at the end is more specifically designed for discussion on mobile development and the transition of already existing console/handheld based franchises to mobile platforms. At least, based on the description on the NYCC website that I read. I suppose it's likely they'll only be able to answer the third question I asked, but if they can answer all of them, great.
I don't know if you're going to ask them these questions at the panel, but I'm sure you won't be able to ask them all if you do! I appreciate the thought in any case. Anyway, be sure to have fun and thanks for asking!
And of course, gotta support that Sakura Wars localization.

A fans of House of the dead series, my question is:
SEGA have been created After burner climax and HOTD: overkill to mobile device, can we gave a hope for classic HOTD4 or Virtua cop mobile version?
New hardware "nu" announced, can we expect new House of the Dead game?
-
Q: Whatever happened to Hardlight's Adventure game for the Vita, and is there hope that its coming at all?
-
What does the Atlus purchase mean for Sega?
-
What happened to the SEGA Heritage line? Did poor sales diminish future potential for more classic remasters?
-
I have some (rather obvious) questions regarding the following, hopefully this applies with the panel featuring Masayoshi Kikuchi:
Valkyria Chronicles 3
Considering several factors including the recent acquisition of Atlus (an Art book release by Udon, an appearance in the localized Project X Zone, an inclusion to a humble bumble music pack, the Operation Rainfall poll inwhich the title held a significant percent of votes, Sony's Third Party relation's Gio Corsi list building/Shahid Kamal Ahmad asking fans for JRPG suggestions on Vita, the option of a Vita release especially with the possibility of Vita TV) does the opportunity for SEGA West to release VC3 localized (including a Studiopolis English dub track, since most of the other assets outside of dialogue/sound fx/description text are already in English) still exist? and if so, any chance of also including the (in continuity) OVA?
Virtua Cop 3
since HotD4 saw a release, any chance of Virtua Cop 3 finally making a release as well on PS3 since there was a rumored OG Xbox version that was cancelled.
Die Hard Arcade
any chance of SEGA reacquiring the rights to the license from Fox to release the title digitally (there is a 6th film in the works seems like a good opportunity)?
Certain Sequels
would SEGA ever consider a sequel to either Binary Domain or Rhythm Thief?
I would ask about Yakuza 5, but I think that is already covered, if not:
Although Nagoshi-san recently said that there are no current plans for localization, will SEGA ever reconsider the project due to certain available options and a(n) demand/interest that has even reached Sony's ear with their list campaign?
my apologies in advance if these questions are a bit much or inappropriate.
-
Wait Kikuchi is there?
Well then the most important question is then...how did the JSR Re-release do? Will we ever see a game like JSR or Ollie King again in music and graphic style?
And since now Kikuchi is now head of mobile stuff after his last game being Binary Domain...how does he feel about the transition?
-
If I were SEGA and hardligt, I'd wait a few months to make any more ios ports until the MFi (made for iphone) controllers come out.
-
Good questions so far but knowing the panels, I'll probably ask three questions about reinventing classic franchises for mobile, purchasing Atlus and how it will affect SEGA (localizations of Atlus and Sega titles, VC3/SakuraWars/Yakuza, and the Heritage series.
-
I'm on the road right now coming from NY and a lot of questions you guys asked has been mostly covered in the panel. Masayoshi Kikuchi-san made an announcement that Demon Tribe will be heading to the West at the end of the panel.
Oh and during the QA, some of the audiences mentioned another Fighters Megamix game from AM2 featuring other SEGA characters and one of the SEGA mobile staff said that they would definitely give the word to them. Atlus and Sega's deal is still going on, still in the lawyers stages.
For inthesky, I've spoken to Aaron Webber about the Sakura Wars and Valkyria Chronicles series after Hatsune Miku performance. The groups are doing a fantasic job with the campaign for the company however requires right timing with the products. So in the mean time, the groups would have to keep going and never give up. Hopefully we can get enough people to support the series in three more years.
-
Demon Tribe coming is neat.
No questions regarding Jet Set Radio?

Oh there were plenty of JSR questions and a soundtrack was given away as a prize along with the sealed copy of Panzar Dragoon from the SEGA trivia contest which was too freakin' easy (except the sports question.)
And if you guys followed Kingdom Conquest 2 Facebook page, they've made a announcement that SEGA characters from Golden Axe and Altered Beast will be making an appearance in the game soon with more to come.
-
Interesting to hear about Demon Tribe, and I'm not that surprised about the SEGA/Atlus deal still being worked out, if I'm not mistaken they said it would be finalized by November, right? Also, who won the sealed PDS?

This is encouraging to hear for me, though I wonder when that right time will be to release VC3, LOL. Still, I'll just keep pushing for it along with Yakuza 5 (heck, I got a friend in to Yakuza and now I'm trying to get him into VC) to be localized...is there any we can strength either campaign?
-
Thanks for the info Kori, specially about Demon Tribe, I did not expect more that came out in the West also because the trademark had been filed in the U.S. and EU nearly a year ago and is already out in japan the 2.0 version... :)

For Yakuza 5 and Valkyria Chronicles 3, stop by and post in the subsections of the official Sega forums. I am guessing keeping up to date with Yakuza fan's stuff may be helpful too, whatever happens on twitter or facebook There seems to be some discussion about an "Operation Rainfall" styled Sega campaign in the General section of the forums too, so you might want to stop there. I want both of those titles released too, heh heh.

thanks! Both games have picked up a bit of steam. There were definitely new Sakura Wars recruits with the release of Project X Zone and Kiss Me Sweet helped corral them. The VC forum has had a steady trickle of things to post about over the past few months, however small, and for whatever reason there have often been occasions where a sizable amount of people would be viewing the forum at a given time. Here's to localization.
Sort of confused what you mean by getting enough people to support the series in three more years? In any case, hope you had fun.

Is the Gallian Liberation Front active these days? seems like what Aaron said should revitalize their efforts. Guess I should also keep tweeting Sony too.
and yea, Yakuza 5 and Valkyria Chronicles 3 are pretty much at the top of my list of wanted games to play, so believe me, I'll do anything I possibly can to see them both released.
and I should have said this from the start, but Thank you Kori for this opportunity and asking for us, I hope you had fun there.
-
The Gallian Liberation Front is still active and posts sporadically on their facebook. The blog itself is basically inactive. People regularly respond to the GLF facebook posts, even if it's sort of tangentially related to VC3 localization efforts, so it's by no means an absolute graveyard. The GLF isn't all that active with regards to campaigning though; currently they have a lot of support for the fan translation patch. They do still support official localization, and did some sort of campaign sometime during the summer.
Personally I appreciate you being as committed as you are! It's a rough spot to be in for several Sega fans, but it's nice to see some people willing to tough it out for some time.
Anyway I'm excited to hear that Aaron Webber seems happy with the continued activity of fans to back localization of Yakuza and Valkyria, a duo to which now we can add Sakura Wars. Hopefully Sega sees to it to get PSNova over, and PSO2!

Yakuza is priority anyways...it's on active consoles, and a bigger budget game.
No videos of the panel anywhere?

I would have to disagree, there a few handful of PSP games that still see release digitally and in some cases (like Class of Heroes 2) limited Physical/Retail release. Like the Japanese version (and unofficially with VC2) it can be compatible with the Vita which is still an active and growing platform (especially if the former option for release is only available). Furthermore, people who loved the first game (and are still discovering it to this day) maybe persuaded to look in to VC3 since it has been said to be the better sequel (and closer in spirit to the first).
Plus I imagine the localization costs wouldn't as expensive when compared to Yakuza 5 (which is on a platform that will still be active for sometime after the launch of PS4) even if you threw in a Studiopolis English dub...I would also argument that if the smaller budget game is successful, then maybe SEGA can persuaded to take another shot with the bigger budget game.
If nothing else, the less of a priority VC3 becomes over time, the more likely (I feel anyways) it will be forgotten. I think we should organize and move forward to strike while the iron (or rather teases like the artbook and PXZ) are hot...or still lukewarm.
okay, I'll get off the soapbox now.

Working on that now. But some of the quality might be a little jumpy.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have pictures. I'll be working on the video tonight and post pictures on the front page this week.

Awesome, Kori. Glad you had a great time.

Who's the guy in the fly Ichiro Ogami outfit? =P

Very cool stuff.
Altough the Q/A stuff wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. Ah well.
-
Skylanders like project? whatever could that mean? Glad to see someone brought up Yakuza 5 and another brought up PSO2. Had I been there I would've made a comment about VC3, but them's the brakes.
For those curious, the Q&A starts at around 35:00 and lasts for a little under 10 minutes.
That Sega spellingbee-like competition was intense. I knew about a little more than half of the answers to those questions. They give away a Dreamcast! So cool. But I would've been happy with that Sonic CD OST too.
Awesome you got to ask question (and finagle in a mention of Sakura Wars =D), Kori-Maru, and thanks for the vid.
