SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis: Collected Works [ セガ メガド ライブ/ジェネシス:作品集成 ] will be the definitive volume on the landmark console. The book is officially licensed by SEGA and celebrates the 25th anniversary of the console’s release. It will be an unparalleled treasury of production artwork, interviews, development sketches and hardware manufacturing plans.

It will also include over 20 exclusive interviews with original SEGA team members – many of whom have never been interviewed before – a foreword by industry legend Dave Perry and an insightful 10,000-word piece by Keith Stuart (Games Editor for the Guardian and regular contributor to Edge) on the machine that changed the landscape of gaming forever.

The book will showcase a wealth of SEGA’s 16-bit titles, from blockbuster games such as Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Phantasy Star, Gunstar Heroes, The Super Shinobi/Revenge of Shinobi and Golden Axe through to cult gems such as Rent-a-Hero, Vectorman and DecapAttack.

Well, this looks pretty awesome. A book all about the Genesis? Count me in!

YES. PLEASE. Old school SEGA concept art is SO hard to find, it would be awesome to actually have some more stuff to feature in the Art of SEGA series beyond what little I've found.

Nice! If this is a success, hopefully he considers following it up with books on the Master System, Saturn, Dreamcast, or even Sega's various arcade hardware.

I'd totally second that. Definitely want a Master System and Saturn companion.

Already pledged.

Going to be so awesome! I hope they go into the even more gritty details as to how SEGA output so many amazing franchises in the early 90s.

We're having the head of the project on this Thursday's podcast! So if you have any questions, post them here and we'll be sure to ask them!

Awesome!

Hmmm....what question do I want to ask....

I guess I have a few questions.

Regarding the funds being much more than possibly expected, would there be a chance to add more concept art into the book, possibly even a bonus poster for those who buy the book?

Regarding the European Mega Drive, why did SEGA choose to not optimise the resolution in potentially one of their strongest markets, despite the inflexibility of the 50hz refresh rate.

Lastly, will there be an in depth review regarding the Mega Drive's sound chip as to why the chip itself is so good at creating rocky or even techno like beats but isn't as good at creating more Opera like experiences? (an overall review would be amazing, the latter half of my sentence is a personal question)

I didn't see Rieko Kodama (a.k.a. Phoenix Rie) in the list of interviewees... is she gonna be interviewed in the book?

Will the book contain a definitive list of all games and accessories released in all regions? Will it include any information about recent releases (like Pier Solar)?

Will the book contain information about the CD and 32X expansions? What about the SVP chip (used in Virtua Racing)?

The Kickstarter has obviously been a tremendous success. Does that enable you to expand the scope of the book beyond what you originally envisioned? Are there still difficult decisions to make about what to include and what to leave out?

Any chance for future books about the other Sega consoles, and arcade machines? Any idea what you'll do for the next book (whether Sega-related or not)?

This NEEDS to be asked!:D I forgot about this one!

A page merely dedicated to the Chip would be really something.

From what I've already read about the chip, it could easily fill a chapter.
