Title: Ristar Week Discussion
Post by: nuckles87 on January 22, 2014, 01:04:58 am
I know there's probably not much to discuss, but I figure franchise weeks ought to have discussion threads to encourage discussion of the franchise. Anyone have anything to say?

I'm curious about the notion that Ristar somehow exceeds the usual limit of colors onscreen for a Gen/MD game. Is this true? Any idea how it is done? And are there other games that use the same technique?

I had read that they used some kind of technique that switches pixels out or putting two different colored pixels next to each other to have them blend, but I haven't been able to find it. All places like GameStop say is that it uses "tricks". It's been bugging me all week because I've wanted to include it in most of the articles going up.

Ristar's an interesting franchise, but there are a few issues in how he handles.

I really wish SEGA considered a sequel to this franchise and possibly create it for the 3DS.
