OK, a free to play iOS / Android game is apparentely the biggest thing since slice bread. A game that's really hard.
I tested it out, I don't think I'm gonna last much longer.

It will also be taken down tomorrow. (https://twitter.com/dongatory/status/432227971173068800)
-
I downloaded it today cause I wanted to play it before it got taken down. It's strangely addicting despite it's horrible collision detection programming! and there is already a ton of clones of it up on the app stores so if the guy does take it down, people can still get their flappy bird fix.
-
I don't know if it's the pressure to continue to support a successful title that's stressing the developer out or if, as an artist, he just isn't interested in associating himself with the title as much ("hey it's the 'Flappy Bird' guy!") for whatever reason. For someone being so direct, he also feels a bit guarded.
I guess he wants a much quieter existence? The money he's made is certainly going to take the pressure off of him as far as his life is concerned.

Some said it might be legal concerns since the game is basically an amalgamation of previous games.
-
What is your guys current high score, mine is 30!

Mine is 3. :P

I reached 67, but I've kinda just lost interest in it now.

He specifically said that it's not related to legal issues.
-
I made it all the way to 5, then uninstalled it. I got ads on very much every single try. Not a surprise.
But even though, he claims that there aren't any legal issues, there seems to be some discussion over the fact that the art style looks very similar to a Super Mario game.

Yeah but I don't believe him.
Nor had I ever heard of him or this game until about two days ago.
It's basically Helicopter... I don't understand gaming anymore...
-
To think I saw my sister play this game at Chili's last week... Also, those are definitely Mario warp pipes.
-
6, but I stopped playing after 5 minutes. Mostly downloaded it because it was getting deleted....and it was free.

Several auctions have popped up on the online marketplace eBay (http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.Xiphone+flappy+bird&_nkw=iphone+flappy+bird&_sacat=0&_from=R40) featuring iPhones that included an installed copy of Flappy Bird, which was removed from app stores by its developer after it skyrocketed to the top of the Google Play and Apple App Store.
Some listings for the smartphones feature bids reaching hundreds and thousands of dollars, including one with a top bid of $99,900 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Apple-iPhone-5S-16GB-Space-Gray-AT-T-With-FLAPPY-BIRD-GAME-INSTALLED-/181321090752?pt=Cell_Phones&hash=item2a379446c0). We've reached out to eBay to determine whether this listing and some of the other high-price auctions are legitimate.
... ::) I find it silly that this is happening.
But, those of you who do still have it, might be tempted to go hang out on eBay within the next couple of days, before the novelty wears off.
A comment from the developer on the attention he was getting:
"Press people are overrating the success of my games," said Nguyen in a tweet on Feburary 4 (https://twitter.com/dongatory/status/430756876582535168). "It is something I never want. Please give me peace."
-
He's the Shia Labeouf of game developers.
-
Please give me peace, waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!
Give me a damn break, whiner..
-
Someone made a typing version.
I wonder if that will be the next big thing now?

@inthesky
Oh, for crying out loud! There are a ton of websites that host .apk files outside of the Google Play Store and someone's already converted the game into a free flash title, so joke's on those guys. I hope they'll enjoy paying Ebay's fees over those ridiculous prices.
