So...with Sonic Boom finally released and the Nintendo exclusive agreement at an end, the most obvious solution would be to wait for Sega to announce the next Sonic game (most likely next February). But just for the fun of it: What are you guys looking for in the next game? While I'm eager to see what Sonic Team is doing, I honestly don't know what to expect. I recall reading a rumor that the next entry will not go back to the Unleashed "boost-to-win" gameplay formula, and strangely enough, will not be going back to the "Lost World" formula either. There's also an article released in April (http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133536-Core-Sonic-Team-Working-on-New-Sonic-Title) with ST producer Iizuka stating "the core Sonic team at Sega is working on a new title that will use the traditional look and mechanics of the series". We'll have to wait and see what that means exactly, but to get this out of the way, I don't see them doing a direct followup to the Adventure series. If they are, it'd most likely be a spiritual successor to said series and not a direct sequel.
Your thoughts?

Whatever it is, I hope it's simple, straightforward, and polished to hell and back. No new gimmick. No crazy gameplay style. No using every single face button and trigger for a different ability. It should be about the joy of movement. Run. Jump. Enjoy.
Also I hope Shadow is no where in sight.

I hope Sonic can roll again. And not homing attack.

Whats with the random Iizuka pics hahaha.
Anyway, yeah I find myself agreeing with radrappy most of the time. If I had to describe my hopes they would be far from the actual expectations. If there's one thing the games never disappoint with, its level themes and music. So i'm always looking forward to that part.
Overall I just "hope" it's a solid game that does all the things they "tried" previously well. I feel like there's always 1 overlooked little thing that ruins the whole package. Hope that wont be the case next time

Oh man, he even has a kiosk with PSU "running" on the ps2 in the background. 2005/6 were some dark times for Sega.

Like Sonic Generations, but better... With more precise platforming, more main sonic levels instead of those filler stages and better final boss.

Would it alternate between classic and new though? How would they manage that, or just have one or the other?

Now we're talking! ManG.

To be honest I was talking about the modern Sonic stages, so switching perspectives between 3D and 2D on the fly and with some completely 2D and other completely 3D stages thrown in for good measure.
I would love them to also do a completely 2D perspective Sonic series separately, even with 3D models would be cool. maybe carry on the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' line but, you know, with actual effort put into it this time.

I want the game to have a over dramatic storyline where you play with friends for 2/3rds of the game. I also want a ton of modes to play in, like maybe some fishing and puzzle games. I think SEGA would be wise to cut development time to about hmm... like 6 months.

That sounds good but i think the best wuld b if they included sum cool features that make use of the wii u touchpad and kinect things like that. imagine if u culd talk to sonic to tell him to jump and stuff like that instead of buttons? thumbs up if u agree :D
-
but what if Sonic was more an open world GTA style game where you steal cars, shoot people and rape prostitutes? Sonic Boom 2!

Day one Jack Lumber DLC and you've got the perfect game.

Another endless runner, this time copying Canabalt instead of Temple Run. :V

This would be a real touch of class, brilliant Barry :))

That would be a huge improvement over the open world in the first game for sure, you know, since Sonic Boom 1 has like.... a empty open world.
I would call it more of a hub world tho.

I have high hopes tbh, given that the Team have done many great things with the last few games . Sonic Colors, Gen and Lost World each had some genuine terrific moments and some really nice touches, just hoping that the team can finally put all those great touches and moments in to one complete package.
Would be nice to see the next Sonic multi platform and where it's out on the XBox 1, PS4 and PC and where the Sonic Team just work on 1 game for all the main systems

I agree with all of this! Between those games they have all the elements for an absolute masterpiece of a Sonic game. They just need to pick the peanuts out of the turd.
