Title: Gamespots shitchattin again!
Post by: Sharky on February 12, 2015, 10:03:37 am
Correct me if I'm wrong but this is some serious bad spin of otherwise good news right?
When all is said and done, whither SEGA mismanaged money or not, a profit is a profit?

I can't help but feel had this been a company in better favour, like everybody's darling Nintendo, they'd be clamouring to point out the profits and any good spin they can muster!

Are these figures including digital sales? I'm surprised Football Manager is in decline.

Also I don't see how this is shit-talking so much as just reporting what happened.

The shift from PC and mobile hasn't been new dialouge from Sega, it's been happening since 2012. Dunno why they are reporting it as something drastic and new...

Yet, Sega still managed to release probably as many packaged games as say...Atlus and Nintendo (both very overrated imo).

Football Manager on PC usually does about a 900,000 by the end of the fiscal year so it's doing okayish.

But sales have increased on the mobile front.

So FM sales are taking into account Digital Sales?

It's possible. They wrote that SEGA posted a profit but instead made the focal point/headline the disappointment of sales on Wii U and Football Manager 2015. It's not nearly as bad as "Sonic Boom sales disappoint; is this the end of Sega?" and the text itself is mostly tame.

What I'm wondering about the article is:

who do they consider "rival publishers"? they don't really think, for example, that Sega can compete with Ubisoft?

(a general accounting question, as far as Sega goes) can the ratcheting of expenses be attributed to anomalous stuff (the big push for Sonic Boom)?
