Via Gameinformer (http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2015/05/04/sega-will-not-have-its-own-booth-at-e3-2015.aspx?utm_content=buffer05dea&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer)
We have some bad news for Sega fans (and, especially those holding out hope for a Shenmue announcement at E3). The company has confirmed to Game Informer that it will not have its own booth at the show next month in Los Angeles.
Sega will be teaming up with some of its partners, though. So you might see titles at booths belonging to platform holders or PC partners.
“Over the next months, SEGA of America will be focusing on the restructure and relocation to Southern California, and we have decided to not attend E3 with our own booth this year,” a representative told us via email. “With the majority of our bigger titles launching later in 2015/2016, particularly those from our AAA studios Relic Entertainment, Sports Interactive and Creative Assembly, we are concentrating our efforts for some of these major announcements after our relocation. Instead, we will be collaborating with our various business partners for this year’s E3 show.”
-
Well at least we know for sure now. It seems to be a busy year for SEGA's restructure. I was thinking about how they wouldnt be able to push things effectively in this state. They lost a lot of people who'd usually do promotional stuff. Sonic boom also happened at a similar time alongside e3. Anyone know if we'll see that?
-
Lets face it, SEGA like Konami will all but soon pull of out of the games market for consoles and just be bit part player with the odd title here and there , while they focus on mobiles.

except at least Sega is somewhat of a joyous company within the japanese market and has some goodwill towards their fans, while Konami is the complete opposite

Sadly I think more Japanese care about what the likes of GungHo get up to these days. Face it bar the odd game here and there its pretty much over for SEGA as a games player .It's really sad to see and its nothing to do with E3 but the direction of the corp

I'm simply saying it as it. You might be happy for SEGA to go down the Mobile route I am not and that's the clear direction SEGA and Konami are going in . The thing that's really depressing is SEGA Japan output and seeing this once amazing developer be reduced to Mobile .

Well if Sega was just there for pure profit in the JP market, Yakuza would have stopped after the PS2 games, 3D Classics would have never get made, and Sega would have shut down everything but their mobile games...
In the end, yes it is sad that Sega has pretty much given up on the western market, with a presence. But really their E3 has been worthless since 2013 really.

Well their mobile games wont be at E3 anyway, so nobody can be dissapointed

They make money, hell even Atari games for 30 odd years ago make money . Tell you this much 20 years down the line people won't be paying money to play SEGA current ouput on their mobiles or Handhelds and if the next Yakzua game doesn't sell better than I think it wil be the last one we see, or it will go mobile.

And you can't even import them either . Like I say to many gamers SEGA will be bit part player

3D classics on 3DS isnt just a port, but yeah.
-
I see it's time to make conspiracy theories again.
-
I'm fine with seeing them at other Publisher booths if the money saved is going to something worthwhile.
I'm just hoping for a retail release of Yakuza 5.
-
IMO Sega of America really should just do anything with "business" partners. I guess except the Sonic social media marketing.
-
TA is like that crazy guy in every town, shouting about Sin and Hell and the End Times and generally being depressing as fuck. Mademan is his mini-me.
I hardly think that's fair. Sega IS slowly pulling away from the console market for one thing, I don't think you can argue that. Why do you think they aren't at E3? Because they have nothing to show.
As for me being TA's 'Mini-me', hardly.
TA thinks that Sega should be investing more in consoles and big budget games, whereas I think Sega is making all the right moves in downscaling their release schedule and focusing on stuff like mobile phones in Japan.
As much as I hate cow-clickers like Total War Battles: Kingdom and have zero interest in mobile phone games, I think Sega is doing the right thing business wise by focusing on them. Why make Binary Domain 2 and risk millions in development when you can make much safer money by using your IPs for Freemium Apps that cost next to nothing to make and potentially bring in millions?
At the same time I won't pretend I enjoy any of those games, and I've always been honest about that.
I also still enjoy Sega's PC output (although they are mainly franchises I enjoyed before Sega bought them), I'm the only one on here who actually plays CoH2 for example, and I'm cautiously excited for Warhammer. I also need to play Ayyy LMAO Isolation soon.
I'm fine with seeing them at other Publisher booths if the money saved is going to something worthwhile.
I'm just hoping for a retail release of Yakuza 5.
It's nearly unbelievable we're getting a translation at all (thanks to Sony), I doubt we'll ever see an English retail release. It's just not worth the money.
-
I was joking dude, you bust my balls all the time. Learn to receive what you give! ;P
-
It should be pointed out that this isn't because SEGA doesn't have games to show, but because of SEGA America's restructuring. So they're letting platform holders show their games instead. As for focussing more on mobile: they've been doing that for years. There likely isn't going to be a big change when it comes to which platforms SEGA is focussing on, cause that change already happened a long time ago.
-

I thought you were just trying to wrangle my jangles :p
I still think it was worth pointing out that I do think Sega really is pulling away from consoles though. I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see much from them outside of Sonic for a while.

But they really don't have any games to show, unless you can think of some I can't.
-
Yes I agree with TimmiT, that's the reason SEGA Networks exists as a separate entity... If all of SEGA was going mobile I don't think they would bother setting up separate groups within the company. I don't expect SEGAs console/PC output to get any smaller.... I just expect their Mobile games to release in higher quantity. I doubt one will take from the other.
While we cant know for sure I would bet there is at least A new Sonic, Yakuza, Project Diva in development. I think it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine a new Shining Force (unfortunately) is in development, and hopefully Virtua Fighter 6 and a new JRPG from the VC team.
SEGA don't release less in house games than they did 10 years ago... They just release less of them on console because Arcade games have fallen almost completely out of favour except with a niche audience.
-
Are they really releasing as many games as they did ten years ago? Seems hard to believe, but it's possible. It could just be that I have no interest in most of the games or they are all Japan only/Handheld only.
I mean, there is literally nothing they could show at E3 that I can think of unless they have Sonic further along than we expected or other titles in development co-funded by Sony/MS/Ninty that they plan to show off at their press conference.
This year PC Gamer is doing a 'PC Conference' so Sega might have something to show there from CA/Relic. It would be nice if they revealed gameplay footage for Warhammer during that one. Maybe something Company of Heroes related (just make it F2P already).

SEGA alone probably not, but now that they own Atlus their library is quite beefy again.
My guess is they have three, maybe four, major projects in the works for the West (Sonic, Warhammer Fantasy/40k and Alien: Isolation 2) but none are as far as long to show off a playable build I guess.
-

Persona 5 to look forward to :).
-
SEGA alone probably not
I'd say plus their mobile games, Sega's output stayed fairly consistent in quantity since 2003...1998-2002 will be their peak imo. Incidentally it was 2003 when Sega established Sega Mobile for those old cell-phones and domestic arcade sales were up again (and caused Sega to rethink their focus)
-

That's what I figured, which is why Atlus is there but not Sega.
Are we considering Atlus games 'Sega' games yet? Or are they still being treated as their own thing for now?
I was never an Atlus fan in the first place so makes no difference to me.

Well if the discussion is "Does SEGA still want to invest in console development" then yes we have to because that is a strong indication SEGA is willing to continue on with console games.
If people want to consider them SEGA DNA or not I don't really want to get into that discussion. Everyone knows my position is based on legal definition.

I know how you define them, and that's cool (I'm pretty much the same I think), but isn't this the first time we've had a publisher owned by Sega? Especially one that keeps it's own branding and doesn't have Sega branding on their products? That's all I'm wondering. I haven't been following closely but my understanding was that Sega doesn't turn up on the products that Atlus is releasing.
As for Sega continuing console games, I know they must have some stuff in development, but I don't expect to see more than one or two games a year from them at this point. If we are including Japan only, maybe bump that up to three or four per year.
-
I'm not going to get back into this discussion; I think everyone has made their position pretty clear. As for not being at e3 being due to the move; that's obviously the primary reason. However, why are they even moving? Because of a serious shift in their priorities and goals. They don't have anything to show because they're shifting their focus, leading to the move. It all goes hand in hand.
That said, I hope they have at least one nice surprise at e3 for people who are fans of sega for sega developed games that don't include total war : warhammer persona boogaloo.
-

When was the last time Sega had a surprise at E3?
Not a surprise, but Yakuza 5 might be there in some form (or does it release before E3?). Otherwise, I think it's going to be mostly their PC output. I wonder what Relic has been up to. Surely their whole team isn't working on DLC and balance patches for CoH2...
-
It doesn't release till fall. SEGA has that and Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax on Sony consoles and I hear (according to NeoGAF) that Sony x SEGA are working on a game together and have been for a year, so who knows if Sony would present that. Sounds more like a TGS thing
-

I forgot about that rumour. I guess that could be at E3, depends on what game it is really. If it's like, Uncharted x Binary Domain Dating Simulator then it'll be TGS, but if it's 'Original: The IP' it would probably be E3. I honestly have no clue as to what to expect if that rumour comes to fruition. (I'm bracing myself for massive disappointment when it turns out to be a Vita exclusive download only game for Japan based on cooking ramen and learning Kanji or something.)

I flirt with that idea sometimes, but it would be the first ever VF title to get released on console before/simultaneous with arcade. I mean it might be a system seller in Japan at least though...
But we all know it will really be Shenmue III: Revenge of Jack Lumber.

Do you expect anything less for the defence force ? . SEGA direction is very clear and for all to see. If people are happy to see SEGAall but pull put of the consoel market and become a major player in Mobile that's fine , I'm not and wasn't happy when GameArts went that way and quite upset and gutted that he corp I loved and grew up with is now going the same way ...
But just to set the record straight I'm not against SEGA on the Mobile or on the PC at all or wnat every SEGA Game to be an AAA production . But I like to see SEGA Japan lead on the PC and then port the games to the console and have a seprate team to handle the mobile side . Like to see SEGA Japan make about 4 to 5 Major console productions every 2 years or so . I don't see why SEGA can't be a big player on the consoel and also the Mobile side like EA and Ubi and so on

Yeah but the money comes from somewhere and that's SEGA Sammy. Can't really say they aren't interested in console development when they go and splash $100 million on a developer that primarily works on console development. As far as I know, Nagoshi sits down with the top developers at Atlus and discuss their future plans so that SEGA does not overlap with Atlus and/or handles out advice if needed.
In the Western front I'm not so sure, we have three games plus a fourth thanks to Sony. If Sonic is in the picture that's another one there (Not looking likely now I suppose) but if we include Japan only we're probably looking at 10+ console games, not that we would be getting stuff like Puyo Puyo or Shining Force anytime soon. There Japanese release schedule has remained strong.

You can't expect too much for a Japanese company now in this time when things got worse and worse.
Console development for games are harder than before, almost the 3x times more expensive than 2007 and Japanese devs are suffering to find a way to make at least 2 AAA titles a year. Of course, there was some bad decisions that ultimately left some people like Inafune and Kojima out of the building but at the same time, this people got promoted to executive position and they do what they want for the better or worse (Inafune/mostly a yearly Megaman and throwing new IP's without worrying in R&D cost/"sequel-special edition can resolve the problem" mentality and Kojima/Expensive long time produced titles that kill resources).
Sega has refocused all their IP's both in consoles and mobile since 2010-2012.
Games with annual and console releases like Let's make a Soccer/Baseball Team where redesing to be mobile titles with annual updates and they work better there. Many where rebranded with thinking the market/demanding public, ergo they were clasified depending if they are a mainstream multimedia title (Puyo Puyo, Sonic for the West), a medium-term seller title (Yakuza, Phantasy Star; Hatsune Miku) or a niche title (Shining, RPG Projects and 3D Classics/ports). This works in Japan but in the West they didn't do it until recently with much loss than wins.
Skipping E3 could sound wrong but I think they need to find more PR guys because Sam can't do all the work now.
Also, you know what is in Southern California where SOA is gonna be relocated? Atlus USA and if you know how SS do this things...we can make a looong discussion from this point ::)

Japanese gaming is in a terrible way, but its of their own making :- Inafune-san called it right years ago, but SEGA been on a massive downward spiral for years now, both on the consoles and even in the Arcades. Would have liked SEGA Japan to at least be a bit more like Squaresoft , but no... SEGA Japan can't even do that. Just becasue some other corps have gone that way and all but given up on the consoles, doesn't mean SEGA Japan should have .
Skipping E3 could sound wrong but I think they need to find more PR guys because Sam can't do all the work now
Skipping E3 isn't that big of a deal, as its not a consumer show but a trade show . It's just the direction SEGA Group is going in that's the issue , there's next to no console games to look forward and nothing at all from SEGA Japan , even Namco, Capcom and Square at least have some next gen games to look forward , even on PC its very limited from SEGA .. There's Football Manager: based a sport, where there's little love for on this board and people go on about Total War and all that...When half the time they don't have a rig/PC able to play the game at their its highest/Half decent setttings .
Its just a list of excuses, but it can't cover up SEGA clear direction of all but pulling out of the console market, with the odd PC title here and there and going for the Mobile. Now Sharky and the rest will try twist it and make out some of us are saying SEGA are dead. No SEGA will be making money , will be making games but it not be the SEGA most of us grew up with , but player in the mobile market .

SEGA has transitioned into a new direction about 4 times since I became a fan in the early 90's, They weren't the 'same SEGA' in the Dreamcast era that they were in the Genesis era and frankly the biggest change came when they went 3rd party... Compared to that, this slight refocus on mobile gaming is a drop in the ocean.
They will STILL develop console and PC games, STILL develop AAA games... What some of you lack is patience.
-

SEGA Japan had over 9 teams (most with at least 3 lines) Just there to make just console and Arcade games and thats all they did . That is not the SEGA Japan we have now . SEGA Japan nither have the staff, the will, the next gen pipe lines or the backing these days to make full blown console game productions, like they used to . Sammy have all but killed SEGA and everything that made SEGA the best and what most people love them for . Pachinko makers should never be allowed to take over games corps . Pachinko makers killed Technsoft and SNK and will soon kill off SEGA Japan .

You might want to try to class Mobile as games Sharky I don't... not in the traditional sense. Mobile games are great to kill the odd boring 10 or so min is work, to play while in the car or on the train , or for cheap ass gamers who want gaming done on the cheap .
-

Not sure if that was directed at me, but I don't feel like I lack patience. It's been a while since I genuinely got excited for a Sega game in the way I used to. Having said that, it's been a while since I was genuinely excited for any game, even Witcher 3 lost a lot of my attention since it's reveal. Sega has just changed, you said so yourself. Some don't find the change very compelling. Look around the net and one of the recurring comments on sites reporting this news is "Sega still has fans!?"
At the moment I am very excited to see Yakuza 5 finally get a western release, so there's that. I'm also holding out hope that we will see VF6 at some point this year.
-

Which NeoGAF member said that? Cause they can be pretty hit or miss. Like if it came from Verendus, it's best to be skeptical.

Yes, Sony will buy them out and force them to make licensed games of their movie properties. EXCITING TIMES.

It was indeed Verendus, he has been right a few times but best to be cautious. Some of his stuff, like Virtua Fighter 6 being a Playstation 4 exclusive isn't much of a longshot though.
-

But their movie properties include Sonic now! It's come full circle!

Inafune was one the culprits of their own downfall, a person who renegates that things couldn't work like he want to always seems to be implicated in that problem.
Did you mean Square-Enix in that phrase? Because SquareSoft no longer exist more after their merger in 2005 because of the over-producing stuff that generates the left of big devs and the amount of shares bought by Sony.
Skipping E3 isn't that big of a deal, as its not a consumer show but a trade show . I can say something about Bamco but Capcom and Square-Enix have 1 relevant project a year and they are mostly sequels, so....yeah....
Its just a list of excuses
I can agree with that in some way or another.
-
Inafune was one the culprits of their own downfall, a person who renegates that things couldn't work like he want to always seems to be implicated in that problem
No he called the downfall for Japan as a force in video gaming years ago and was quite right for the most part.
I can say something about Bamco but Capcom and Square-Enix have 1 relevant project a year and they are mostly sequels
What we got coming from SEGA that isn't a sequel then or some cheap mobile game . Square , while I'm no fan of the corp, they have some amazing tech and the new FF game looks impressive , Capcom have some nice tech and we all know their teams are busy making sequels to SF, RE and DMC and while its not much at least Tekken fans have a new game to look forward too, VF fans haven't even got that .One AAA PS4 production would be a start from SEGA Japan , but we haven't even got that to look forward too
-
again, at least they released two PS4 Yakuzas already.
And Yakuza Zero looks real nice, one of the best looking games on PS4.
-
I hope we eventually get it in English.
Speaking of Y0, has Aki-at imported and played it yet?
-

You mean PS3 ports . C'Mon its not that great and we've got nothing to look forward too at the moment . And Yakuza Zero is far from one of the better looking PS4 games. Ok sure I've only played the demo, but its nothing more than a great looking PS3 game running on the PS4.
-

Nah, thanks to Yakuza 5 being brought over I'm sure Sony will help SEGA bring over Yakuza 0, more so since it's a Playstation 4 game. It might even get a sole Playstation 4 release here like Dragon Quest Heroes did (Which was one of the games I wanted a Playstation 4 for.)

George wrote a piece about why SEGA does not have a booth this year: http://segabits.com/blog/2015/05/06/get-your-facts-straight-sega-not-having-a-booth-at-e3-2015-and-what-it-really-means/
Papa George cutting through the lies and getting to the cheesy TRUTH!
-
I admire George's articles like these, but I think the horse has well and truly bolted on this one. Public perception of Sega is in the toilet, and I don't think Sega particularly cares, since it doesn't seem to hurt sales of their output, maybe apart from Sonic.
I hope that Sega actually does have some decent stuff to show at E3, but I think most of the public has written them off as dead.
The comments should be fun.

Mang you forgot Project Mirai 2.

You mean PS3 ports . C'Mon its not that great and we've got nothing to look forward too at the moment . And Yakuza Zero is far from one of the better looking PS4 games. Ok sure I've only played the demo, but its nothing more than a great looking PS3 game running on the PS4.
Neither Capcom or Square Enix have released PS4-only games thus far. Well except Type-O, but yeah...
-
Mang you forgot Project Mirai 2.
Mang I am disappointed.
Wut
Nah, thanks to Yakuza 5 being brought over I'm sure Sony will help SEGA bring over Yakuza 0, more so since it's a Playstation 4 game. It might even get a sole Playstation 4 release here like Dragon Quest Heroes did (Which was one of the games I wanted a Playstation 4 for.)
Do you think Y0 will be translated? I was thinking it wouldn't be likely, unless Y5 is a decent hit on digital space. I figured Y5 translation was Sony trying to throw people a bone/pad out their lineup for the console more than anything.
I hope it does though, the game looks really good as usual. Y5 will no doubt keep me busy for a long time though.

Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai Deluxe 2 is being released in the West. You overlooked that you xenophobic crocodile hating WANKER (tm)

It's not like the release schedule for the Playstation 4 is improving anyway, we're still getting massive delays and the announcements are far and few in between. I believe last year there was only 200 disc releases.
So I think Sony will continue to try and pad out their schedule.

Who plays these games!? WHO KEEPS BUYING THEM!? Apart from Happy Cat. And that one guy I know who plays it on his Vita.

Hmm, fair point. I guess we'll see. Hopefully it would be released on PS3 and PS4 in English. Did we ever find out if the Chinese/Taiwanese version would have English subtitles?
-

I actually know a few people who play them. Also me.
-
I'm looking forward to the 3DS release of Miku, I'll be getting that for sure. I don't own a PS3 or Vita so I've never had a chance to play Miku outside of demo kiosks.
-
I'm guessing they are Rhythm games? I'm also genuinely surprised that at least four people own a Vita.

Project Mirai is for the 3DS...

Oh that explains it actually. The kind of people who own 3DS consoles would play this sort of thing.
-
I already wrote about this on the front page but last year SEGA only had THREE games at their booth: Sonic Boom, Isolation and Hatsune Miku Project Diva f2nd.
So they have more games this year to actually show then last year.

Man, last years line up was pathetic... at least this year has Warhammer and Yakuza 5.
For real though George, I know I troll the comments, but I did like your write up. I still think Sega's line up is rubbish but at least you are delving into the story instead of just 'Sega isn't at E3'.
-
Oh that explains it actually. The kind of people who own 3DS consoles would play this sort of thing.
Vita as well. It's a good handheld for those who like more niche games, and the Project Diva games have generally sold better on it than on PS3. The games also generally seem to sell pretty well in Japan at least. I imagine that they also sell well enough in the west considering that they keep localizing the games now.
-
Unrelated, but I just kinda realized and found out that the person in charge of Sega PC/Console business, http://sega-games.co.jp/csol/company/message/ (http://sega-games.co.jp/csol/company/message/), is a "Chief Technical Officer".
Also the hiring for arcade games is steady as always, while on the console/PC side not much is seen so far.
Cutting back on the arcade division relying on mainstay titles will make it profitable in no time again imo.
-
I would like to give a nice kudos to George for his article call "Get your facts straight:SEGA not having a booth at E3 2015 and what it really means", and also i would like to give a big and more nice "***K YOU" to MademanG74 for his comment in his, already mentioned, article :)
-
Thanks, glad you guys enjoyed it. Also, Mademan is Mademan and does what Mademan does.

Keep that up and you'll be getting a warning from the mods, sunshine :) (Not really, I love you bro)

I'm just here to keep you all honest.
For real though, I even said it was a joke post but everyone STILL took it seriously...
(Tembo does look like a flash game though)

I didnt take it that seriously, besides you specifically wrote that you wanted us to get on our nerves, so i did :) , where the hell are my 5 dollars?
-
I just want to echo what everyone has been saying about George's article, it's a great write-up and glad you put it up George. Glad to see someone actually looking at situation and making clear sense of it all.
-
Neither Capcom or Square Enix have released PS4-only games thus far. Well except Type-O, but yeah...
Well I could be clever go on about the likes of RE Revelations and so on (but hey its nothing more than a last gen game running on the PS4). I'll just point out Capcom and Square have up-coming games take advantage of the next gen. They may well turn out to be crap, but at last they're working on true next gen games
-

What next gen games have they got to show George ? To list Yakuza 5 is just a bit laughable when it like 3 years old. SEGA line up is rubbish and they're moving away for video game development in the traditional sense, or do you class Mobile as a Video game system ?
-
Team Andromeda: "I don't give a fuck about any games SEGA has, I don't care about other consoles that aren't Xbox One or Playstation 4"
Alright.
You do know there are like other systems that people care about? You do you know that Total War: Warhammer will outsell most 'next gen' games by Capcom (which seem to be Free-to-play titles).
-
(Tembo does look like a flash game though)
I think you've forgotten what Flash games look like.
Also, great article George. Hopefully clears some stuff up.

There is a lot of people in SEGA who like the games.
Ruby / Aaron may not be with SEGA anymore, but I wouldn't count him out yet, hes crazy passionate about SEGA. Just listen to his sales pitch to GameSpot for Project Diva F 2nd.

I don't care how much it sells so much as I care about it being a good game. I really don't want CA to fuck this one up. I'm cautiously optimistic.I think you've forgotten what Flash games look like.
Quite possibly, but I just hate art style for some reason. The gameplay footage looks okay though, I'd like to be pleasantly surprised, but if I didn't see people posting it on here, I never would have paid it any attention.

Radrappy seems annoyed at George and myself, claiming we say “Sega is fine, enjoy Total War and Atlus or shut up.” but I honestly do not know where we have told people this. Interested to hear where he is getting this from.
Personally, I think Creative Assembly, Relic, and Atlus are all smart buys on SEGA's end. But I have never told people to enjoy those titles and shut up. "SEGA is fine" is a weird thing to argue over, because what IS fine? SEGA as a whole is fine, dare I say doing rather well in the current climate. SEGA Europe are doing well. SEGA of America are not doing well, but they are in the process of remedying it.

The issue is, most people don't care that 'Sega is fine' financially, they care that Sega don't make any games that they enjoy anymore.
And I can't really fault them for having that opinion. As I said, I like Total War and CoH2, but they were franchises before Sega bought them, and if anything they've gotten worse under Sega. I still love Yakuza and VF, but one is on life support in the west and the other... well it's also on life support in the west, AND I'm waiting for a new installment.
It's just a case of them saying 'That's great that Sega is still trading, but why should we care?'
EDIT: Actually, that's probably not fair for TW series. My favourite games in the series were Medieval 2 + Expansions and Shogun + Expansions. I am disgusted with the DLC from Shogun 2 onwards though.
-
I don't care if people have that opinion, hell sometimes I have that opinion, but I am wondering where “Sega is fine, enjoy Total War and Atlus or shut up” is coming from.
-
Probably taking lines like this the wrong way:
Personally I’m a bit dumbfounded that fans really think that games they ‘liked’ will turn a company around, especially when some of those talked about IPs stopped being supported forever ago. Oh, because you liked the franchise? That makes sense. Great business move.
The issue here is that most SEGA fans don’t want to face the truth, even SEGA’s flagship franchise fails to sell as much as Total War and Football Manager games do on a constant basis.
-
I don't care if people have that opinion, hell sometimes I have that opinion, but I am wondering where “Sega is fine, enjoy Total War and Atlus or shut up” is coming from.
I can only imagine not posting enough articles about why SEGA is in a bad shape or how they are mistreating their fans/how other companies are treating their fans better, is what leads people to such assumptions.
I do recall recently arguing with someone who said SEGA should emulate Konami or rather, how Konami was leaving SEGA behind a few months back. I pointed out Konami's problems but it fell on deaf ears, fast forward a couple of weeks, Silent Hills cancelled, Kojima set to leave and I feel it shows people are either blinded by their own dissatisfaction at SEGA or were blinded by one major game (Metal Gear Solid V) to notice the overall problem at Konami. Facts do not speak well to some people, only the picture the mass media paints.
-
I don't care if people have that opinion, hell sometimes I have that opinion, but I am wondering where “Sega is fine, enjoy Total War and Atlus or shut up” is coming from.
Oh please. The entire article was full of one liners that are clearly intended to enrage people like me, Mademan, and TA. Not only that, but this forum is incredibly defensive about Sega to the point where people are actually arguing that TW, Atlus, and Miku are worthy substitutes for the wonderful library of properties that Sega has all but left in the gutter. They may not be struggling financially or anywhere near it but they certainly are bankrupt creatively.
Actions speak louder than words. The reason you guys need to keep writing articles like this to dispel "misconceptions" is because Sega's output speaks for itself.
-
The point of the article was to dispel the notion that SEGA is not going to be at E3 at all, something that several sites are incorrectly reporting and/or implying in headlines. No booth =/= no presence. George was also responding to people who believe the "no more package games" thing, and the notion that that is the reason for no booth. The childhood IP thing was a response, again, to people who pinpoint that as the reason they are not at E3. Like seriously, we get emails from people claiming Shenmue III will solve all of SEGA's problems. We're a fan site dude. Of course we are going to be fans of SEGA on some level and try to set the record straight when the general media gets shit wrong. Also, do you really speak for Mademan or TA? Why not let them speak for themselves?
Really, you seem to be taking offense to George's mention of classic IPs. But that is all based on personal tastes. Just because something is an old IP doesn't mean it is a better game than Total War or Miku or any of Atlus's output. And who said any of those new IPs are substitutes for the old ones? They are not. Nothing will replace Jet Set Radio or After Burner, but why can't we enjoy games like Total War or Miku or Atlus and others? (hereby referred to as TWMAAO because I'm tired of typing that out each time I mention them).
-
Atlus USA is so distanced from Sega USA that they dont even have the SEGA copyright on their games, and have an investor firm which overseas Sega does not even have anymore. It is strange.
-

The way the organisation has been restructured would take until the end of the year wouldn't it? Can't remember if it was end of the year or June, maybe that's the reason for the hold up?
-
I think most people that 'read' the article and had 'issues' with it don't understand the concept of it and didn't finish reading it. What I stated about Total War selling more than SEGA in-house IPs have isn't to illustrate that SEGA IPs are bad, but that SEGA is making wise business decisions, especially SOE (Which is really a first for that side of SEGA in terms of in-house teams) and this concept that SEGA is doing bad because they don't make another Shenmue is absurd, because SEGA has tried bringing back these fan favorites as ports and performed badly (for them).
You should read the rest of the article, because I do explain SEGA having issues. For fucks sake, this is the 4th restructure in like 5 years, of course there are issues. I dunno, I think everyone is crying about "HEY WHERE IS THIS GMAE NOW WHERRER!? " when a company just stated days ago that they have new announcements after June's move... how about stop complaining for 5 minutes and let the company move their shit.
The article isn't about what games you should like or not like, I don't give a fuck what games you play. The article was about how SEGA still has a line-up to have a decent booth at E3, if not decent at least better than the one they had last year. The problem with people like Radrappy is that they think 'Total War's success = we hate SEGA Japan games', which is just putting words in our mouths.
-
I don't know, there were several "Holdings" companies for USA and Europe Sega, but for the US they completly dissapeared in about 2007, in 2009 and 2012 some executives had positions at Sega Europe Holdings...but that went away too.
Currently it looks like they want to reduce Sega US and unify Sega resources, but keep Atlus USA pretty much the same (infact for some, their output has increased a little, with more localizations coming)
-
All things said, TW:Warhammer will get a closed to public presentation by Koch Media (Europe distributor of Sega packaged games), so in the end, Sega externally is already confirmed for E3.
Don't worry , Trippled about the no connection between Atlus USA/ex-Index Ltd. And SOA after adquisition.
There is a reason behind that...
-
And the reason is?
-
Atlus USA will publish all of SEGA Japan's titles over in America, right?@!?

I love Nimurgen's cryptic posts about the future of Sega.
Who are you 'Gen? Who are you really!? I bet he's actually Tom Kalinske in disguise. You're a cool guy.
I wonder sometimes if I'm too negative around here. I do like Yakoozer gamers still, even if Sega doesn't want to give them to me as much as they used to. Maybe it's my fault. Maybe I didn't love them as much as I should have. Maybe I didn't buy them, as often as I could have. But they were sometimes on my mind. I never had a Ps2, what was I to do? I did however buy Yak Uzer 4 on release and even Dead Souls. Oh Dead Souls. I'm not sure if they tried to imply Majima was homosexual in that game or not, he kept trying to make out with Daigo. I mean, he does say in another scene he'd like to have a woman under each arm, but maybe he swings both ways, you know? if fluffy was here no doubt he would have something to say on the matter.
I wonder what the key diference was in Yakuzer not becoming really popular, like Yakuza + x = Success, but waht is 'x'? We might not know. I do know that i didn't enjoy dengeki bukkake fighting climxa, was the guy who called me out actually Berto? The dragon guy from Indonesia who posts a lot of content on the forums here?
-
And the reason is?
Bro, don't go messing with it...
Some things men were just not meant to know.
-
Stephen Frost said that the merging of Atlus USA and Sega America would not mesh well, because he implies how Sega of America has this "AAA" set up, which I see as bullshit really.
I think for Sonic Team games there is already a domestic localizer in Japan anyways...most of Sega America is PR or similar positions.
-
Yeah SEGA of America never made smart purchases like SEGA Europe did, the only studio that they hit it out of the park with was Relic buyout. Three Rings buyout was strange since they haven't really done much after the buyout. Are they still around?
This is their San Francisco offices tho, so nice:
http://becausewecan.org/Office_interior_with_custom_desks#1
Its a shame that SEGA Racing Studio from SEGA Europe had to close its doors so soon :( , though I don't think its good for a big studio to chicken coup themselves into a single genre.
-
The problem with people like Radrappy is that they think 'Total War's success = we hate SEGA Japan games', which is just putting words in our mouths.
Aw gee thanks. I don't need to put words into your mouth, you've made your position more than clear over the years. Let's try to stay civil here and not resort to singling people out huh? I'm responding to your article in a respectful and constructive way, not making broad offensive statements about your character. I disagree with your point of view that Sega not being at e3 doesn't have grave implications for the creative output of the company, what's so crazy about that?
-
What is my position, since your dead set on understanding it.
-
What is my position, since your dead set on understanding it.
"Just STFU, Total War sells better than Streets of Rage, biooootch"
-

That you're satisfied as long as Sega is financially secure, even if the games are nothing like the reasons anyone became a fan of theirs in the first place. And as for bringing back dormant IPs:
So Football Manager would outsell a new Jet Grind Radio by the millions; so what? If this were just about being profitable, Sega should ditch consoles/pc altogether and just make candy crush clones to the end of their days. I was never a fan of Sega for their successful business model. I was a fan of theirs when they were paving the way with iconic and daring gameplay experiences with memorable characters and properties.
You guys go on and on about how the media is misrepresenting the company; that there's some kind of smear campaign at work. The sad truth is just simply that no one gives a damn anymore about Sega because they don't make anything worth caring about.
If you were offended by my remarks, I'll happily apologize. I know we're all just fans here and we want what's best for the company. You definitely hit a nerve though with the comments about how bringing back IPs is a bad idea. Just look at people's avatars in this forum. These characters and properties are important to us. There would be room in my heart for TWAMtumbo if they would just develop some of their heritage properties once in a while as well. With the state of the industry though, that's becoming less and less likely.
-
First of all the article in question isn't about my taste in games, its about facts which seem to hurt your feelings. I never stated in the article if I liked or disliked any of the games I mentioned.
Again, you just don't understand you keep on talking about what made you a fan of SEGA and that has NOTHING to do with the article and about why they are skipping E3. If no one cares about SEGA, fine, its my blog and I can write whatever I want. What does it matter, no one cares or reads it, right?
To me it sounds like you think this whole thing revolves around 'opinions' when I purposely posted NO OPINIONS in the article. The only person spewing opinions here is you, most of your reply is about you and what SEGA games you like.
The article about the E3 booth isn't about what SEGA games I like or what games SEGA should make or not make, its about facts on why they didn't have a booth there; not about speculation. Facts are they are moving from San Francisco to LA in June. They will have a presence at E3, so they aren't not going to be there.

It's already been sorta said, but us thinking that SEGA is doing fine doesn't mean that SEGA is putting out the games we'd want them to put out. I'd sure love SEGA now a hell of a lot more if they were putting out more racing games or were making a new Jet Set Radio, but that's besides the point. The point is that there are misconceptions going around about SEGA that are simply not true, which is what the article that George made is about.
-
Thats a true statement, you can't just pretend a game like Ecco the Dolphin will defy logic and sell millions of copies. That just isn't correct at all. You need more validation than 'I liked the game so It makes millions".
-
Radrappy, are you thinking with your heart or your head here?
-
Thats a true statement, you can't just pretend a game like Ecco the Dolphin will define logic and sell millions of copies. That just isn't correct at all. You need more validation than 'I liked the game so It makes millions".
But George you can't prove tha-oh wait (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/annunziata/the-next-ecco-the-dolphin-adventure-game)
-
Come on George, Barry, you can't deny that doesn't come off as abrasive.
I mean, I like the article, but either purposely or accidentally that comes off as kinda insulting.
-
I dunno I think SEGA Japan do still work on quite a few of their classics over a 5 year period... Maybe not all the ones we want but quite a good number. Puyo Puyo, Phantasy Star, Sonic, Shining Force, Virtua Fighter, Super Monkey Ball, Yakuza amongst others... If you count remakes/remasters then actually loads... though im sure you don't.
-
Come on George, Barry, you can't deny that doesn't come off as abrasive.
I mean, I like the article, but either purposely or accidentally that comes off as kinda insulting.
It's also 100% an opinion. Pro tip: you don't usually start a factual statement with "personally."
Your actual statement, if I paraphrase was "I think it's stupid/silly people think these old Ips will at all help the company."
-
No.
Thats a true statement, you can't just pretend a game like Ecco the Dolphin will defy logic and sell millions of copies. That just isn't correct at all. You need more validation than 'I liked the game so It makes millions".
That was the statements being passed around online, that if SEGA had some old IP again that didn't sell back in the day, now, there would be a E3 booth this year which makes no sense.
I never said old IPs wouldn't work, I said 'you liking a game' isn't a valid reason to even think a franchise would be successful and its not a valid reason. So now you are changing the actual definition into something to fit your narrative.
-
Come on George, Barry, you can't deny that doesn't come off as abrasive.
I mean, I like the article, but either purposely or accidentally that comes off as kinda insulting.
If the only reason you think something would be successful because you liked it, isn't it a fairly silly position to hold?
-
No.
Im not going to keep pestering you about this but please REREAD YOUR STATEMENT. Here, I'll help. I'll bold the opinions for you.
"Personally I’m a bit dumbfounded that fans really think that games they ‘liked’ will turn a company around, especially when some of those talked about IPs stopped being supported forever ago. Oh, because you liked the franchise? That makes sense. Great business move."
Also, there are smart ways to revitalize an IP without breaking the bank. Don't make a AAA next gen title, make a smaller project in installments ala Resident Evil Revelations. Who are you to say that reinvesting in strong brands won't help the company in the long run? Please point me towards your fortune telling ball because that's an opinion, my friend. Not a fact.
-
gain your going into stuff that has nothing to do with the fucking article. I never stated old IPs would never be successful, just that 'I like the game' isn't a valid reason to bring an IP back. I was talking about facts, and 'I like a game' has nothing to do with business tactics.
Can they bring back an old IP? Sure, they can. Does that have anything to do with the E3 booth? No.
Case closed.
-
and I already explained it to you but it doesn't seem to get through your head. So why should I bother again? How is 'I like a game' a valid reason the new entry would be successful? How much more simpler can I explain this to you without drawing a picture?
I'm done with this, enjoy your day sir. I hope you will one day read your article and realize it's laced with opinions and slants like no tomorrow.
-
I'm done with this, enjoy your day sir. I hope you will one day read your article and realize it's laced with opinions and slants like no tomorrow.
Alright man, maybe next time you'll understand to read something for what it is and not making up long stories about stuff I never said.
-
I jut remembered a while ago AM2 Manager Makoto Osaki saying unannounced PS4 titles are in development (after Yakuza Zero was announced).
-
Yep, he said it during a Japanese Playstation 4 event, but I dunno if it was specifically about AM2 having unannounced games for Playstation 4 or if SEGA Japan as a developer has Playstation 4 titles unannounced or if he is counting SEGA as a whole (aka Creative Assembly already teased a title).
-
Do I think Sega bringing back classics in this era will work? Maybe.
I think it really depends on whether or not they can develop the games right. If they put in as much effort as they do with sonic games, then no.
-
I think it's impossible not to view Sega's absence as unfortunate. We understand and I respect their rationale, but still.
In any case, the reactions we see (which are understandable) are to be expected until some hypothetical dark future where Sega is barely in games. To speak specifically about the classic games, it seems Sega is moving as far as the Heritage and the 3D Classics performances go
-
The thing that I don't understand is that SEGA has always been about moving forward, this is the company that didn't make an official sequel to Outrun until 2003, 17 years after the original. Sure, they had some games they would re-do, but they mostly delivered and moved on. This is why I'm surprised people don't clamor for the return of more Japanese studios making unique IPs, they clamor for 'sequels'...
Maybe Nintendo should buy SEGA, that way they can make all the sequels everyone wants.
-
Honestly I'd rather have SEGA make new games as good as their classics than just making sequels to them. Aside from Jet Set Radio that needs to come back.
EDIT: Welp I didn't even read George's post before mine. But yeah usually new original IP > sequels that are just more of the same.
-
Do I think Sega bringing back classics in this era will work? Maybe.
I think it really depends on whether or not they can develop the games right. If they put in as much effort as they do with sonic games, then no.
I gotta disagree here, forget Sonic Boom I doubt anything like that will be allowed to happen again. Lets talk actual SEGA Japan, Sonic Team.
Sonic Colours and Generations were both well made games with a lot of effort put into them. The purpose build Hedgehog Engine for a start. You could argue they both had faults, but those are generally all weird design choices, not from lack of trying to build a quality game. Sonic Colours for instants was easily one of the best looking games on Wii, the music was stellar, the level designs and aesthetics were really great. Generations too.
Now Sonic Lost World is a funny one because in some cases I would say it's one of the most polished Sonic games. I think it found a really good look for Sonic, again great graphics, music, levels, aesthetic... character animations were really smooth. The Sonic storylines have finally found themselves too. But again weird design choices hampered it... The speed levels felt on rails and kind of boring, the circular world thing was restrictive, wisps were shoehorned in.
While something like Sonic 06 and Sonic Boom were just BAD games, poor in quality, right out the gate... The three recent Sonic games from Sonic Team, beginning with Colours, have been circling a really incredible Sonic experience... But never quite getting there. But I'd certainly not say there was a lack of effort or they were poor quality games. I think they're edging closer to greatness in increments.

If the only reason you think something would be successful because you liked it, isn't it a fairly silly position to hold?
That's my point exactly, who says stuff like that? It comes off like a straw man argument, along with the sarcasm at the end, it's easy to read it as something insulting. I personally don't mind because I speak to George a lot and post on the forums, but to the average front page reader it would be easy to read badly.
Although, having said that I generally don't read front page comments or see Segabits' emails, so maybe there literally are people out there constantly arguing 'Guys a new Toejam and Earl will save Sega, because it's my favourite game'.
Even sequels to old Sega games would be welcome when we mostly get fed sequels to franchises that Sega purchased or licensed titles. Fine games, but they aren't the games people associated with Sega back in the day, nor are they home grown Sega franchises even if they are Sega games.
As for fans not asking for original IPs, it's easier to think "I'd like a sequel to my favourite game" than saying "I want Sega to make something new". Something new is just such a broad term and concept. I think it goes without saying that fans would enjoy a new IP, look at Valkyria Chronicles or Bayonetta.
Also, I really wish Sega would port Sega Race TV to Steam or something. That game looks really fun.

Well go to the comment sections and have a look yourself. Check the SEGAbits facebook page that has people telling us SEGA funding Shenmue 3 would make them millions.
People want a sequel and even if they don't directly say its because they like the game... It's because they want the game rather than understanding if it's feasible or not.

We love it when people confuse us for actual SEGA.

Maybe Nintendo should buy SEGA, that way they can make all the sequels everyone wants.
well don't tell that to fans of Golden Sun, F-Zero, Metroid, etc. etc. =P
Joke aside, on some level, why are we having a discussion about why people ask for sequels. Isn't it obvious? People get attached to the world, people like a game's battle system, they hope for the same sound or composer team to return (Bravely series is an exception here). It's not as if we all don't have some favorites too. Besides, I think that post assumes that there's no overlap between people who want new things and people who want to see the old franchises return. It also makes sense that not everyone is gung-ho about what's new, because as I think MadeManG was alluding to, basically people have preferences. Not everyone is a Sega fan or fan of everything Sega has their hand in. Not everyone is a fan of SRPGs, so when Valkyria Chronicles was announced, as much as some people appreciated it as something unique there are plenty who just might not have cared and wanted something else or would rather have had Skies 2 or something. Doesn't really bother me. An unlikely scenario considering that as we now understand it, VC is a franchise that people tend to appreciate, if at least from a distance, but I believe I made my point.
while I quoted your post George, this isn't designed as a slight to you but something I've been thinking about generally over the years.
Talk of progress aside, some franchises are clearly exempt from this- those are things like Sonic, Total War, etc. Some franchises are so big or make enough return that the risk to its continued existence is "insulated" or protected. That's what this is about more than anything. I mean it's not like Sega hasn't already been trying out new IPs either, like Rhythm Thief or Hero Bank. They didn't take in any profound way, for whatever circumstances. Hasn't everyone been going for new IPs (besides Koei Tecmo, maybe, I can't think of what they're doing)? I know that Bandai Namco, Square-Enix, and Capcom have been trying new IPs at least. We're really not dealing with a uniquely-Sega situation. Sega is not unique in its creation of franchises that people love but then are later shelved due to certain reasons. People still want Mega Man, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers, Legend of Mana, Klonoa, blah blahblahblahblahbahb
Like, if Valkyria were to basically cease to exist (for all we know, it's a dormant franchise), why would I accept this direction? I mean I'm not going to say Sega is dying (it'll take way more than Valkyria being dormant to do any sort of real damage to Sega) but I'm not going to accept it graciously either. I don't have any reason to believe there's little else that could be done with the franchise. Does it behoove me, as just as one individual who lacks any real leverage in Sega's decision making process on my own, to internalize the rationalizations of the market? I don't think so.

-Dubious- proposition aside (re: that specific shenmue 3 notion) I don't think it's important whether or not a person's desire for a game is influenced by its perceived commercial viability. That most gaming consumers aren't considering a game's feasibility ( at least, as far as they know) isn't necessary from their point of view. I'll understand the logic of why a company might not go through with it, but I'm not less inclined to want it, and may not be less inclined to make that company aware of it. If enough people signal Sega about their game/proposition it's at least a useful data point.
Not to say that this means all ideas under the sun have some unnoticed commercial feasibility...but why do we care about every idea under the sun anyway? The way I see it, if people stop screeching for Shenmue 3 altogether, then Sega will have zero reason to think about the game, instead of one reason.
Separate note, I think we're at the point where we're being tempted to reacting in turn to overreacting comments.

You do know there are like other systems that people care about? You do you know that Total War: Warhammer will outsell most 'next gen' games by
Spare me the fanboy defence . Overlooking your PC rig can just about run Witcher 2 I find it hard to believe you'll be getting the new Total War much less a serious PC gamer and if you want to talk sales ... Monster Hunter alone sells better than any Football Manager or any Creative Assembly game you could care to meantion and well any SEGA game other than Sonic and Mario Olympics on the Wii . never mind the Resident Evil 5 and 6 sales .
So if you're going to write fanboy drivel at least get your sales fig's right and open your eyes to SEGA becoming less and less a player in the games market . BTW keep the good work reminding us all about how good SEGA Japan 'used' to be the classic features on UGA, TA and so on ::)
-
Football Manager is literally one of the most played games on Steam... It's pretty much always in the top 10 at least: http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ (http://store.steampowered.com/stats/)
As for the Total War games, how about you take a look at SEGA's best selling games on Steam: http://steamspy.com/dev/SEGA (http://steamspy.com/dev/SEGA)
And as for Monster Hunter selling better: no shit, it's Monster Hunter. But what's important is that SEGA's games are selling well, not better than other games.

But this is in relation to the mindset George was talking about regarding some fans, not every fan's personal opinion.

I got a new video care this week for Witcher 3, so I can run the upcoming Total War too. My old PC card was a 560gtx, it was older but it didn't just 'barely' run Witcher 2, it ran it on medium/high. But whatever, I guess I'm not a real gamer like you lol.
I don't know what logic has to do with fanboysim, but OK. Sounds like you are making stuff up about me.

Don't be so snide, TA.
What has Monster Hunter sales got to do with Total War sales? Those games are apples and oranges. It really proves nothing... Except more people like one genre than the other... No doubt because running about mindlessly smacking monsters and grinding for loot is a damn sight easier than a complex strategy game like Total War.
But while I imagine any old company could make a Monster Hunter/Phantasy Star Online style game... (In fact they are a dime a dozen in South East Asia) Nobody is coming close to making a game like TW which blends the city/world managing and RTS genres with such depths and complexity.

Sigh... I don't go about sales myself you lot just keep on brining them up . If you want talk sales of the likes of Total War and all that, just remember that RE and Monster Hunter sell better, way better that's all. I care more about if a game is good or not and to me SOJ isn't delivering on that score and just going more and more mobile . BTW I don't like or own any Monster Hunter game not a fan of the series myself

Can we get past the fanboy talk please ?, looking over that I could just say the same about PSO II . To the fans they both love that style of gameplay ...
Nobody is coming close to making a game like TW which blends the city/world managing and RTS genres with such depths and complexity
. There's quite a few and making a game like PSO or Mounster Hunter isn't that easy either imo making a game that people want and enjoy going back to time and time again , takes some doing . Making any good game is art and not easy
But whatever, I guess I'm not a real gamer like you lol.
Not a PC gamer no.. They're the ones always updating their rigs to play the game on the best settings - it what they do. To me its a mug game ( I was a PC nut at one stage ) and I just stick to console gaming its far easier and you know where you are .

I think you are underestimating Monster Hunter and over-estimating Total War.
Total War is one of the few that blends tactics and grand strategy, but it also does so at a cost. The grand strategy aspect of the game is considered Fisher Price levels. Ask any grand strategy fan, or heck, try out a game like Crusader Kings 2 or Europa Universalis and see just how utterly basic Total War is by comparison. It's basically a 'paint the map' simulator with next to no politics, finance or management.
And that's fine, the game is all about the real time tactical battles, which it does really well, but it's 90% RTT and only 10% Grand Strategy.

Also have to agree with Mademan. Total war's non tactics elements, while still requiring strategy, are far less in depth than pretty much every Crusader Kings or Europa Universales title. Of course the tactics themselves may require some cunning depending on battle arena and unit composition, but otherwise, you probably aren't often crying at the fact that your people are in revolt because your son looks like quasimodo and they think it shines bad on you for it.

I don't see
(1) what Monster Hunter has to do with Total War
(2) why gaming on a console is any easyer than on a PC
(3) how any of this relates to Sega's absence from this year's E3

Why the fuck are you all still comparing Monster Hunter with Total War? They're two completely different games.

Why the fuck are you all still comparing Monster Hunter with Total War? They're two completely different games.
We should be comparing Company of Heroes, another True Sega Franchise™ (that I used to enjoy growing up with on Mega Drive), to Capcom's own Dark Stalkers series. They are roughly the same game so it's a more fair comparison.
They both pit one player against another in a battle of dexterity and wits, just in slightly different ways. I feel that CoH has that real feeling of Sega DNA® that we all love, (much like Jack Lumber) which is why Company of Heroes is still e-Sports but Vampire Savior/Dark Stalkers can't even get into EVO without paying a hefty cover charge to the cheeto encrusted and acne ridden bouncers. Dangling a lanyard with that smug smile while a 100% Traditional Sega Franchise that we all love and grew up with; Persona 4: Ultra Ultimax Suplex Hold, proudly walks into the front door with a large, diamond encrusted badge that reads "Official Game of Evo 2015".
The only issue is that Company of Heroes (both 1 and 2) require me to solder new graphics cards directly into my motherboard on a weekly basis to be able to play the game. And even then it only runs at 12fps and often the entire PC will burst into flames, singeing my eyebrows off. It's just part and parcel of being a True PC GamerⒸ, I didn't choose this life, but it's what I must do to enjoy the real deal Sega Franchises like Total War and Football Manager.
I still recall going to IBM's head office one day and haggling with them to purchase the now defunct Shaheen Super Computer in an attempt to get the Valkyria Chronicles port to run full screen on computer, but realised I wouldn't be able to carry it as it takes up an entire floor of a building. The did show me Company of Heroes 1 running at a silky smooth, rock solid 25fps on it though, which was really rather impressive. At the time I could only view the game in still images, viewed in jpg form via internet explorer for twenty seconds at a time while cooling my graphics card with dry ice (the liquid nitrogen prices had skyrocketed after Football Manager released and PC gamers were buying it up to cool their 12 Teraflop Ge-Force Genocide cards required to run the game).

it seems that the company is planning to have a permanent meeting room this E3 still

also the site is using SEGA's new name.

Well, SEGA America already explained why they're not there: they're still restructuring.

Nothing to be excited about unless you are excited at the aspect of Japanese business men talking about their lucrative mobile business.
I joke! lol i don't know, just taking a mademang stance.
