Title: Bayonetta and women. (Split topic)
Post by: Sharky on June 02, 2010, 04:41:35 pm
[This topic was split from the member pictures 2010 thread]

Thats awesome, cool cosplay! What event did you attend to get the blow up rappy?

For a moment there I thought your tattoo read 'Shenmue'... and I was inches away from proposing.

Fuzzy isn’t going to like this, according to him all woman are being discriminated against and repressed by Bayonetta or something else absurd.

I never gave any opinion on her cosplay. Don't put words into other people's mouths.

I've said before that Bayonetta is a sexually objectified character, which is a completely obvious and 100% valid observation. Even the game's creators would not deny that they delighted in making her strip naked or doing slow motion zoom-in shots on her crotch.

It was always you guys who brought in hypocrisy and other irrelevant arguments to the table because you can't handle the truth.

Also: For every sexually objectified video game female, there are ten posts made by fluffymoochicken sexually objectifying men.
Yep, irrelevant arguments, as usual.

For the record, here's a developers blog that answers once and for all if she is meant to be a sexually objectified character:

http://platinumgames.com/2009/12/04/the ... as-models/ (http://platinumgames.com/2009/12/04/the-secrets-of-bayonettas-models/)

Yeah. I don't think they're going to say "Naw, Bayonetta isn't objectified... NOW LET'S FOCUS ON HER BOOBS AND BUTT LOL". The developers themselves intentionally made her the way that she is.

Case closed. Let that debate go already.

Why does it offend you so much? You don't take issue when it is the other way around and you have little semi naked boys in your avatar?

You still haven't even played Bayonetta from what I've heard, the character is clearly a 'sexual' one but it's also a very 'strong woman' type character, that I know plenty of girls that see it as a good character type. From my experience girls actually like the character in general.

Unlike plenty of other recent games you never at any point actually see her nude.

Did not know that women should be ashamed of their ass and breasts.

I think we should make a new topic for Bayonetta rather than have it take away from all the wonderful attractive people in this thread (Also why I haven't posted my ugly mug yet. ba dum tish!)

Nice work Sharky!

Anyway, I think Bayonetta is one of the most memorable and entertaining characters from a video game in a long while. Regardless of her sexy design I found her to be extremely cool and funny, without ever feeling like cringing at a bad one-liner or something.

The way she was talking to the stuffed doll when fighting Iustita (or however it's spelt) in particular was amusing.

Everyone who complains about Bayonetta's design, saying stuff like how it objectifies women need to STFU and learn that she was designed by women.

People need to appreciate the work gone into the game more. Jeanne for instance has one of the best costume designs I have ever seen for a videogame character ever, especially with her hat on in the first scene.

Just because some perverts decide to make porn of something does not mean the game is perverted. There are jokes about it, yeah, but it is always done in a goofy and lighthearted way. Something you just do not see in something like Tomb Raider.

Funny how this topic was sparked by a woman who clearly loves Bayonetta enough to dress up as her (and looks great btw) and then a debate kicks off between a bunch of men.

Have the women of our forums discuss this and I'm certain they'd have no real problems.

Haven't replied before because i don't think i have really something to say about. I usually dislike games with women as main characters (not because of sexual reason, i just feel better using a man to play), the only women i like from games are Ulala Bayonetta and Claire Redfield because they are all strong characters. Also i like the game a lot and had a lot of fun playing it so i have no problems if Bayonetta shows some boobs or ass, it makes the game even more funny.
Do you guys have problems playing ninja gaiden? he's a man in thight showing ass and being cool but no one complains about it.

Theres only one person here that finds it a 'problem' and he hasn't even played the game... Funnily enough he is happy to put half naked male characters in his Avatar...

I liked the boss battles in the game :)

The "Joy" enemy definitely felt like a parody of the super-sexualized female video game character. Big bouncing boobs, moaning and [spoiler:1vf021sc]vagina rubbing[/spoiler:1vf021sc]. I took Bayonetta's punishment and destruction of Joy to symbolize truly strong female characters, like Bayonetta, destroying blatantly sexualized female characters.

Also I agree about Claire Redfield. Excellent female character. I'd also put Aika of Skies of Arcadia and Bonnie of Red Dead Redemption in the positive category.

My guess is that faggymoochicken secretly gets an erection at bayonetta and is ashamed of his fag-self for it in some way.

...I have a dick, why should I care?...
Clearly, I'm amongst intellectuals on these forums.

'ImSmartUrDum', that post is hugely offensive. Consider this a warning, and please refrain from using those kind of terms in future. I don't mind if you have a problem with another member, but direct insults like that won't be tolerated.
