They also retweeted Nintendo's E3 Direct. They only do that when there is PG content in a ND.

Starfox?

Hope it's not another Wonderful 101 game, hated that game..

Hope it's not another Wonderful 101 game, hated that game..
Why? It was fantastic. It had a steep learning curve like any older game but once you got it it's no doubt one of this gens BEST games. Esp all the SEGA references like Space Harrier at the end and Zaxxon and more.
-
Another Wii U bomb.
-
wii u killed the dreamcast
-
Why all the Wii U hate? It's a fantastic console and in the best of ways is like DC. Great quirky games. Great system. My PS4 currently is dusty. People just seem to hate it because it's popular to bash it.
Not bashing the Wii U, but the system is sales poison.
I have one but it's collecting dust after I finished Bayonetta. Lots of good games, but Nintendo's policy of never discounting the price means that I'm playing excellent PS3 and PC games that I bought for $10 instead of buying Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for $60.
-
Sales certainly don't define a systems greatness, but they certainly matter.
No one is poking fun at the Wii U cause its the "cool" thing to do. If that were the case we would all be bashing the Xbox One.
My Wii U has been collecting dust for months, to the point where I may end up selling it. My Xbox on the other hand has gotten a ton of playtime due to the amazing 3rd party games it's been getting.
-
I don't think there as bad as they SHOULD be. The system really has no 3rd party support and even the Nintendo titles haven't been as good as past stuff, especially when it comes to content. I would say its doing as well as it will do in this climate and rise of PC and Mobile.
People bring up that its selling around the same as the Dreamcast did in its two year mark, but people forget to mention that the Dreamcast had a incredible library of games and was price drop a fuck ton. The Wii U is still selling at retail for $300, just 50 dollars less than an Xbox One; while at a year and some months in the Dreamcast was already $99.
-
Still gotta finish bayonetta 2. Playing on 3rd climax is brutal! Really dont wanna lower the difficulty but it might actually get me to finish it lol.
Hope this next platinum game is worth it no matter the platform

tbh if i disliked a platform so much i would just sell it. I agree there's issues (like the ones mademang pointed out). But it certainly has its place. If you love classic gamedesign that is.
-
Poison? That makes no sense.
I'm sorry when do sales matter how good a system is? I guess Saturn is a pile of horseshit then. As is SMS and Dreamcast. Thank you for that now I can throw them in the trash knowing they suck because they didn't sell great.
Also no Toad no Splatoon? Splatoon is damn amazing and it's Jet Set Radio as an online Shooter. It's the best Shooter this gen. Nintendo doesn't need to lower the prices tho that's an entitled modern gamer brain. AAA games diminish value fast and most are broken day 1. Their games are good enough and polished the value doe snot diminish.
You're taking my comments the wrong way, let me re-phrase.
I'm not implying that sales = quality, but we are lamenting the fact that Wii U games don't get the sales they deserve. Bayonetta 2 is my favourite game in a long, long time but it bombed hard. Wii U sales in general are struggling and non-nintendo games on the platform struggle even more. This is no reflection of their quality! I think it's a fine system :)
As for the pricing issue, it's not me being entitled. I have no qualms spending full price for a game on Wii-U, but when I have the choice to buy Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze for $60 or Alien Isolation for $12, I'm going to pick Alien. I want to play both, they are both top quality games, but one is five times more expensive than the other. Ditto PS3, I bought MGS: Legacy Collection for about $50, 6 games on two discs, but I haven't bought a game for Wii U since Bayonetta 2. Not to mention I got Europa Universalis, Crusader Kings 2, Hearts of Iron 3 and a number of other top PC games for a $15 bundle just recently.
Nothing entitled about it, I'm just buying the best value for money in my eyes.
I do really want to get Wonderful 101 soon though!

Wonderful 102 to be the original concept PG pitched which was an all Nintendo IP game, Amiibo's to play major role in unlocking characters. Game to support up to 102 Amiibos.

While they are revealing a new game at E3: those tweets are nothing but JP Kellams messing with people.

^Same as Kamiya screwing with people with the W101 tweets.

Capcom x Platinum Games team up for Devil May Cry 5.

Ugh.. I hope it's not a Wonderful 101 sequel..
At least there's Scalebound to look forward to.

From what I hear, Scalebound might not be what we are expecting at all.

Noooooo!!
Where are you getting this from Mang?
-
Can't wait to see it, their form has been a bit dodgy recently (Mainly the MadWorld/Anarchy Reign team though I'd imagine) but still excited to see what they have in development, hopefully its multiplatform and not tied down to one console.
-
It's either Viewtoful Joe (does Platinum own the rights to that now? Or is it still Capcom only?) or Wonderful 102 or something. "Seeing red" could go either way, but "Oh my God!" sounds like it would be a surprise, and Joe sounds like a definite surprise.
-
Wonderful 101 didn't look like my kind of game at all... Even with all the Platinum charm. So I hope it isn't a sequel to that... Then again it wont matter, I'm not getting a Wii U anyway... Don't even have a xbone or ps4 yet let alone the lame duck.
-
Considering Splatoon's been the only good game I've found on the Wii u so far, I really couldn't recommend anyone getting one. Starfox and Zelda are the only other games I'm hoping turn out good. If they don't, I'm selling it.
Thankfully, I didn't pay much for the Wii u so it's not been a financial loss really.
I know they won't - yet at least - but I really wish Nintendo would just go third party. Even if you don't particularly like one of their releases, you can always see the quality in their work. It's such a shame they have it blocked behind such crappy hardware though.

Heard chatter from a few places that it's not going to be an action game, but rather might be a rails-shooter or flying dragon thing. Might be fun in a Panzer Dragoon kind of way, but I think most people are expecting DMC style action and will be disappointed.

I must be the only one who liked Madworld :/
I thought the art style was neat and the high score based gameplay was fun.
Anarchy Reigns seemed like it would have been fucking awesome if there was anyone online ever (or if it had offline multi). I wish this game had a PC release for a chance of a more active community. It's either Viewtoful Joe (does Platinum own the rights to that now? I don't think Platinum owns the rights to anything as far as I know. I do feel like those tweets were trolling/alluding to their history more than a real hint.

Don't let Ryuudo see that post! ;)
Either way, I really like the look of W101, but I haven't got it yet. I should pick it up soon, but... backlog :/

Bayonetta 2?
Bayonetta 2 is amazing, I have MK8 but it's not great outside of party multiplayer IMO. I really want to get Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze and W101 as well.
-
I'm not a particularly fan of the genre Bayonetta sits in.
W101 is kind of a mess in my opinion. It's like they had an idea, but weren't sure where to go with it.
Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze looks, and sounds amazing, but once you get about half way into the game, you hit this point where it just becomes frustratingly bad and it just sapped the desire to continue it out of me.
MK8...well, I preferred Sega Racing Transformed personally. The weapons in MK8 were horrible and unless you're playing at 200cc (which breaks the tracks as they're clearly not designed for it), I never felt any essence of speed in the game.
Mario World was bland and, well, I'm finding the Lego games better than Mario to be honest. They have more character and much more interesting designs to them.
So far, Treasure Tracker, Splatoon and Affordable Space Adventure have been the highlights.

It'll be revealed on Monday during Geoff Keighly's E3 thing on Youtube:

Is he the Dorito's Pope?
-
I'd be down with a Platinum-developed Kid Icarus. The 3DS game was dope, though uncomfortable to play. A Wii U entry would be bawler.
Otherwise, more Vanquish please.

Is he the Dorito's Pope?
Yup.

A cell Shaded Transformers game by Activision got leaked. Gaf is speculating that it might be Platinum's next game. How else would you see a cell shaded game from a western publisher in this day and age?
ayyyyyyy

It sure does look like a game Platinum would make. The cell shading is very similar to that in their Legend of Korra game.
-
I hope this isn't made by the Korra team for obvious reasons
-
Is that a screenshot!? FFFFFFFFF IT LOOKS AMAZING!
I don't even like transformers but I'd be hyped for that.

Was it poo?
-
Japan sure does love their Transformers. I can totally see Platinum making this.
-
Was it poo?
It was a decent game, but not nearly as good as Platinum's usual games. The lack of time and budget was likely more to blame than the people who worked on it though.
-
Well should have expected as much. At least I know a few people who will freak out about this game.
-
Yup, it's made by Platinum. Also unlike Korra it's a full priced retail game so they probably have a better budget for this. (http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/transformers-transformers-devestation-playstation-4-77117/10381518.aspx)
-
Ah, sigh. I wish Platinum did this when they worked with SEGA. I Marvel Platinum Games 60 dollar title would have been amazing.
-
Booo. This is the Platinum game? Lame. Platinum's non-Sega games are utterly forgettable.
-
I can't blame them for making a new game for pay their employees and maintain them.
I blame them for think that "they are a kind of savior of the games industry" and every release should be hyped. That doesn't say anything for a niche developer.

They do have a pretty good strike rate. I haven't played a Platinum game that I haven't enjoyed.

Anarchy Reigns? Korra? That DS RPG game?
-
Metal Gear Rising?
Yup, couldn't get invested in it as I'm not a Metal Gear fan.
This game, while I'm sure it will be good, is diminished by being a licensed title. Very disappointed that this is the announced game.
The Sega based Platinum games are arguably the best in their genres. Their non-Sega titles, I wouldn't even rank.
Bayonetta 1/2
Vanquish
Mad World
Infinite Space
Anarchy Reigns
vs
Metal Gear Rising
Wonderful 101
Korra
Transformers
No contest if you ask me.

Metal Gear Rising?.
I think the sad part is that they are doing these license games when one of their team's original goals was to do unique IPs that they had complete control over. So far they have broken that after leaving SEGA.
-
Are we really going to pretend that Metal Gear Rising wasn't good, well received and memorable?
Anarchy Reigns? Korra? That DS RPG game?
I thought Anarchy Reigns was good, but hamstrung by the shoddy western release (Sega's fault) which meant nobody was online to play with, which was the whole point.
Haven't played the other two.

I wasn't a Metal Gear fan either, but really liked MGR.
I don't think being licensed hurts this game, at least I'll wait until we see what it's like.
As I said, I think MGR is up there with the Sega games (not as good, but still a really good game). W101 I haven't played yet, but again, it's still well loved and memorable.
I agree that Sega/Platinum made the best of the bunch, but I don't think they fell off a cliff the moment Sega pulled out. (Also technically Bayo 2 isn't a Sega game either so...)

It was sent to die but did anyone honestly think it would do decently anywhere? Even in Japan it opened to sales of under 30,000, the online community for the game would be dead within a month regardless of a global launch or not.
(Also Anarchy Reigns was pretty janky I thought D: )

Ehhhhh yeah it was a niche game for sure. I do feel that waiting so long hurt it's sales at least a little though. To be fair, they did at least make it a budget priced title.
I think it would have done better digital only or something. The single player was just filler, and the multiplayer seemed solid. Having seen and read some high level play stuff, it sounded like it had so much potential :(

Yeah it did come out 6 months after the Japanese release but I don't feel that should kill any hype, there wasn't any there to begin with (And Binary Domain outsold it in like a week, imagine how big a bomb it was then) It was available both digitally and retail I thought?
I don't know much potential it had, I've played it a few times but I just didn't have the enthusiasm to play it again. Stuff like Virtua Fighter or Virtua Tennis are competitive games I'd pop in a single play session, even stuff like Smash Bros are fun offline by yourself but I didn't get much of that out of Anarchy Reigns.

Booo. This is the Platinum game? Lame. Platinum's non-Sega games are utterly forgettable.
Wonderful 101 has one of the best endings to any video game ever, and you're calling it "utterly forgettable"? I mean, I get that the game is flawed but it being forgettable certainly isn't one of them. Besides that, it's not like SEGA is the main reason why Platinum's games are any good. If they were Metal Gear Rising wouldn't be their best game. :V

Developers gotta make money, otherwise no publisher is gonna support them. and well.. Activision knows how to make money.

Man, E3 hasn't officially started yet and we are off to a great start!

I tried sooo hard to like W101 and to care and I just couldn't bring myself to do either.
Ditto that for MGR. Bayonetta and Vanquish are leagues above that game in every way, sorry.

MGR is fun, but I don't think it's better than Bayonetta 1 or 2.

So the Transformers game's team includes people who worked on Korra and Bayonetta 2, it's being directed by the director behind Metal Gear Rising.

Looks awesome! But I really wish Activision got these guys to do a TMNT game : <
-
I have mixed concerns about this.
In one hand, it looks really good and polish, but I feel this game is going to be really short in both content and replayability, plus it will have a ton of DLC from the get go(5 Transformers and 3 villains from the start, the next are downloadable content).
Man,Platinum has just gotten 3 more projects to work with Scalebound around the clock. I hope their commitment end well because I didn't have the best memories of devs when they were trying to grasp much projects with such a fixed dev time.
They are expanding, yeah but that doesn't mean much IMO.

I think the sad part is that they are doing these license games when one of their team's original goals was to do unique IPs that they had complete control over. So far they have broken that after leaving SEGA.
They also like being in business, which tends to be a good thing if you still want to follow that goal. Their original philosophy didn't go so well when pretty much every game they made under Sega underperformed, some pretty terribly and now they're taking what they can get in some channels. And really, they're still doing original IPs while working on licensed games that make sense considering their talent. There is literally nothing wrong with PG working with big name publishers that think they're a good match for whatever game they want. Korra is decent, Revengeance is a really great, if flawed, action game that manages to have its own identity besides Bayonetta (And I couldn't care less about Metal Gear) and Transformers looks leagues above Korra, seems Activision liked how much Korra cashed and now they're upping the budget. And Nier's collaboration is almost as bizarre as Taro Yoko himself. Platinum Games being this prolific is nothing but evolution of the best kind.
That being said, Scalebound looks likes it still needs some time in the oven...for a long time. I know Kamiya never really gave a shit about a consistent framerate but that gameplay video was fucking pathetic in terms of performance. Looks pretty fucking groovy, though.
