Holy shit.
-
Why isn't 2015 over yet. Like, literally nothing good is happening this year to outweigh all the loss.
RIP
-
Truly shocking news. A true developer's man, a tragic lose.
Cancer is the worst.
-
God this is awful. 55 is ridiculously young.
-
:(
Man, I feel bad for Miyamoto, he was his long time partner and they rebranded Nintendo together.
Q.E.P.D. SeƱor Iwata U_U
-
What? He was so young! Terrible and so sudden, wasn't he just at E3 this year? Rest in Peace, Mr.Nintendo!
-
Have been very busy lately. But I had to come on to comment on this.
This is very painful news. I always felt like Iwata saying that he wanted to make consumers smile with Nintendo made games to be a strong reason of why I started appreciating the company. Because for me that had become the case. I dont always feel all too well. And sometimes i wouldnt know what to do, but there was always something about nintendo games that would cheer me up somehow and make me feel better. And I appreciated that a lot. No other game maker does that with me. I could feel thrilled, in awe, but actually making me smile is something only nintendo games do with me. A company being run with that goal in mind is very rare.
Yes this is a very sad day indeed. May he rest in peace

He missed E3 this year but I don't think they revealed why, now we know, he was suffering from cancer.

You can see the weight loss here, it's the most depressing way to go : <

The man was probably suffering a lot since he was diagnosed and went through surgery. The more I think about it, the sadder I get

I don't know what E3 presentation you saw but in the one I saw he was there and looking fit as a fiddle:

That isn't a on stage presentation, its pre-recorded video they show.

This news really hit me in a weird way. I couldn't have seen it coming, it came out of left field. We've lost a great man, but to only mourn him would be foolish. To remember his legacy, and all the times he made us laugh and feel good, is what he would want.

Nintendo's last president was Hiroshi Yamauchi who served from 1949-2002. Seriously wondering what the company will do, especially right now when they are planning a new gaming platform.
-
This one hurts..
As someone who was always vocal about wanting Iwata out, this is certainly not what I was expecting. This is horribly depressing news and am truly sorry for his family's loss. He was my father's age and couldn't imagine losing my father at such a young age.
The only positive thing that can come out of this is that his successor may have different, more modern ideas that may be able to help shift this companies Console woes in a more successful route.
RIP Iwata, may your legacy be remembered forever.
Also, he passed on my daughters b-day

Just woke up and saw the news. Awful. Although I wasn't a fan of the direction he was taking Nintendo, he always came across as a nice man who would have time for anyone.
RIP Iwata

When I first saw this news, it caused me to pause for a moment. It saddened me to see such an iconic and beloved figurehead of gaming pass away a relatively young age. Looking back, I very much enjoyed watching his direct presentations. If Nintendo chooses to keep making them, they just won't be the same without Iwata.

You are now aware the puppets were a way to mask his condition.

There are momtents where it just hits me, "Iwata is really gone". Such a sad thing that happened. The memories he left of himself are stuff that can be crushing when look back at.
Here a tribute made for him by one of the music staff

Its so deep.....hopefully, Iwata-San's sprit will be fused to Nintendo workers to deliver that charm that he had.
I miss him. :'(

Yeah man. Its gonna be interesting to see what Iwata has left for the people in the upcoming years with NX and his unified ideas.
