Fans rejoice! Sega's proving they're giving a shit!
On a serious note, this is a smart move. Not just for the fact we might have a better quality Sonic Boom title coming, but slated on Sonic's 25th anniversary, when the next main Sonic title will possibly be released...and overshadow the Boom game in the process.
-
It's deff pretty strange that the Sonic series has gotten to the point where a delay is rejoiced, lol.
I agree that it's good to see a Sonic game finally able to escape its required Holiday Season release date. A delay could be a good sign, though it's also worth noting that the PS3 version of Sonic '06 was delayed into its next year too, something which also didn't appear to make any sort of difference.
-
Seems like next year will be the Sonic blowout again - 4 games, Sonic Boom 3DS, Mario & Sonic, Sonic 25th, maybe another one
-
Although this year has plagued with delays and almost no new IP's are going to appear in this Holiday season, I think this is a smart move after all.
9 months of work for both Fire & Ice and Rio 2016 would be a wrong thing to do.
Hopefully, things looks promising for the next year for Sonic.

Shattered Crystal wasn't all that great, though I did like it more than a few of the other DS/3DS Sonic games. Thing was, it had some issues that could be very easily fixed with additional development time. With Fire & Ice learning from those mistakes plus added development time, I don't doubt that we will be getting a game that is better than Shattered Crystal and better than Fire & Ice had it released in 2015. My expectations are still low, but I do think we will be getting a better product in the end.

I really appreciate this decision.
One thing I'll say is I hope they beef up the visual fidelity of this game. It still kind of looks like a DS game.

I would be more thrilled if we even knew information on the game in the first place.

Please be Chao Garden

Please be Chao Garden
But there isn't any Chao in the Boom Universe... yet.
-
No rings in the TV series (just the games), and no Chaos Emeralds or Super Sonic either!
My one major beef with Boom is that despite being a brand new universe, they have done very little world building. No explanations for how Sonic and friends came to meet each other, no backstory for Knuckles, no reason why Eggman is a human living off the coast of an animal island. This sort of stuff is what I loved about the classic games, and I was really hoping to see a new take on that sort of stuff.
Imagine if a new TMNT series released and they didn't detail how this new version's team came to be or who Splinter was or what Shredder's history with the turtles was.
-
Yeah, the TV series is slow.
Even Shadow's first appearance is scheduled on episode.... 52.
Can ypu believe it. 52 !!!
And since 52 is the finale episode of second season, no chance then for other chars such as Lyric or Chao.
Maybe next in the Episode 76.
