Title: Playstation experience 2015 starting soon

So its that final blow of the year that Sony likes to do since last year. This is the 2nd time t heyve been doing it and I guess you could call it an E3 lite depending on what they're gonna show this time. Last year was pretty good I thought. So id say its worth a watch. And who knows some cool SEGA projects get shown or anounced. My hope is that Yakuza 5 comes out today!

Oh man so cool to see FFVII remake up and running.  Given Square Enix's release schedule I wasn't hopeful about seeing in game footage so soon.

That said, it's becoming more and more clear that this is more of a complete retelling than a remake.  It looks like turn based combat is gone and a new realtime action based system has taken its place.  It would be smart to treat this as a completely new experience than comparing it to the original.  Hmm.

It's that square took a turn to very realistic and a serious tone from final fantasy 8. The snes final fantasy till 7, actually 9 as well, have a more cartoony/vibrant/comedic tone to it. I know that its what I liked about square during the 90's. Also see chrono trigger. Just the little quirks and sillyness added to the charm for me personally. Im fine with turn based combat being gone, but I hope that the tone isnt becoming to emo ish like whats happened with most square games lately. Just very indifferent about what they've shown. I guess you could call me a ff7 purist. Just as i may be a sonic and shenmue purist. I know it stops me from appreciating in my opinion unnescesary modernizations of franchises, but im fine with that.

EDIT: YOOO YAKUZA 0 IS COMING TO WEST

EDIT2: GIVE ME THAT YAKUZA 5 ON PSN ANOUNCEMENT. dec 8th!

I almost vomited at how bad the ni no kuni trailer looked.  Every boring terrible jrpg cliche wrapped in a terribly voice acted trailer.  Level-5 needs to be stopped.

I thought it was a pretty strong showing all around.  They more or less are just giving the people what they want.  Strong 3rd party support as always.

Yup. Say what you want about the lack of 1st party, but they're 3rd party showing and exclusives are strong as ever. It was just something that stood out with how the other 2 put more emphasis into 1st party. Anyway ni no kuni did look cliche'd I guess. I need to see more gameplay. I thought the first game was alright, very beautiful world but so so gameplay. All I need is for them to make the battles more fun.

Edit: Im surprised about the dissapointment im reading from people. I guess people expected too much? I think if sony cant please their fans they should perhaps stop flashing their cards so many times a year. Maybe 4 times is just too much. (E3, Paris, TGS and now PSX)

I thought the conference was pretty good.

There was some slow parts... CoD.. StarWars.. Destiny.. bad PS VR Demo.. but overall was entertaining to watch. I really want to get a PS4 after this show, but like, now just isn't a good time financially speaking. Hope to get one in the spring. Gonna try putting money away towards one, rather then taking another 300 dollars out of my current savings.

Hard enough justifying the money towards Yakuza 5, but definitely gonna buy that. Want to support the series and both me and my friend want to play it anyways.

Well looking at the exclusives and ports, I'd say the PS4 definitely has my attention now.

I still dont have a ps4. Was planning to but financial stuff gettin in the way similar to happycat. Definitly the console to get. The production values for all the games are just off the chart

Here the ni no kuni 2 trailer

Gotta say after watching it again without the compression from the stream yesterday it looks beautiful.

I'm hoping there is a PSVR Bundle cause i do want that, Rez Infinite looks amazing, but at the same time I want to play Gravity Rush remastered the month it comes out. So I'll probably be buying a PS4 in February. Don't have the self control to wait for a PSVR Bundle in late 2016.

Also, quite a few direct feed HD gameplay videos arriving on the PlayStation youtube channel now. Things are looking really good, especially when watching in HD

Yeah. Very few ps4 games look like budget titles. Just allround huge productions and so many of em. Personally I dont feel bad not having bought any of the 2 new gen consoles yet. Im more excited about whats coming than whats been out so it isnt really that bad for us. Also PC is taking over the 2nd spot in place of xbox One for many of these games from asia when you listen to the words. "Exclusive on consoles" for example could mean that some of em may come to PC. Considering the succes some japanese pubs have had, and how square has put so many games on steam. That would be great for someone who overall prefers PC.

so apparently the FFVII remake is going to be episodic and each entry will "provide its own experience."

Everyone is freaking out about the episodic nature but it's the latter statement that freaks me out.  It seems to imply different gameplay styles at the very least.

It actually doesn't surprise me that it might be heading towards an episodic styled release. People may not like it, but this game is going to cost a fortune to make and they need to see a return. Surely this is better then not getting it at all?

There's no reason you have to play it in episodes might I add. A lot of people buy them all and wait till they're all released before playing.

The FFVII remake was the thing that caught my eye the most out of PSX, honestly. I've already stated my opinion on the original in the thread made a week or so ago, but the trailer they showed off looked genuinely pretty cool. From what little there is, it looks sort of like a Tomb Raider and Kingdom Hearts hybrid, though it could just be modeled off recent FF games, I have no idea as the most recent FF I've played was X (though I played a bit of XII when it came out and it just seemed...weird).

The combat alone looks fun enough to warrant a look, and I love the art style a lot. It also looks much farther ahead than I thought it would be, I know they said the game's been worked on for a couple years but I was expecting not to see it again until middle of next year, let alone see gameplay before then.

I really like where FF7 is headed. Just heard they are spliting up the game. Hopefully this will mean a whole game's worth of Midgar.

It's all downhill from there anyway

Dat moment when you realize midgar isnt the only part of the game tho. Game is massive. Tbh all ps1 final fantasies were pretty massive. The pre rendered backgrounds helped a lot at the time. If they could make a 1:1 remake in one game I would have honestly be surprised.

Having said that just gonna wait till the full release in 2020

Problem is that Disc 1 was brilliant, but Disc 2 was boring anime shit

Gotta admit that ive replayed the game like probably around 15 times, the first time I finished it, after that I never even got to disc 2..... lol. Maybe that says something but im not sure. Game is still the best thing ever tho....

Yes! I love the atmosphere! I hope they really explore it and bring up some emotion like they did with CC

Admittedly it was a bit of a tongue and cheeck. I  think a lot are right that the game is a bit overrated and how memories make it seem better than it really is. It explains why I could only finish it once and the game does really slow down in the middle.

This remake to me still seems a bit unnescesary tbh. From all the news I cant see it meeting expectations of a lot of people. Square wants to push the boundaries a bit too much in the wrong areas imho. They should have prioritized what people loved about the game in the first place.

The reason im saying this is because I expect the episodic nature to really kill some of the good things about classic JRPG's. The feeling of a wholistic experience being taken into account in one complete game. Imagine if you had to play skies of arcadia remake episodic. That shit sounds rediculous to me.

What people most loved about the game was the hype at launch, the CG graphics of the cutscenes and the feel of a breathing Midgar.
They are basically saying "remember those amazing trailers, now we can play with graphics 100x better than that!" They are catering to a long dream of living that experience in its fullness. In fact, most people will be satisfied with just playing Midgar, while hardcore fans will probably get into the later parts much more.

Thought PSX was pretty lackluster, but I'm sure Sony is saving most announcements for E3.

FFVII looks great, but not excited about the game being episodic or the combat. Looks too much like KH or FFXV to me.
