Kiryu looking better than ever. Could we finally have a new engine here?
-
Well, shit. That looks MUCH better than the original teaser. And they're only scratching the surface in terms of graphical fidelity, apparently. Sweet.
Animations look pretty stiff and it seems like this is another prequel since Kiryu looks very young, hope I'm wrong though. If there's one thing this series doesn't need, it's more prequels. 0 was enough.
-
Do I detect a hint of grey, Kazuma?
-
Would they do a prequel with the title being "6"? They went out of their way with 0 as a prequel and to my knowledge all the Yakuza games have progressed forward with the storyline.

Updated op with the trailer

My take on it is that kiryu may have looked a bit older than he is in the ps3 games. Including the remake. Someone of kiryu's caliber shouldnt look too old in his middle 40's i think?
-
We don't know when this is in his life. Looks a lot like he did on the PS2 games.
Tho the animation is getting there, still looks stiff at moments.
-
Kiryu does look a bit older(or maybe different) in the remake or is it just me?
Here a comparison

On second thought/look, he may actually be looking younger in Y6 indeed. Very interesting if true...
-
Doesn't look that much of an improvement bar some nice environmental effects (which do look stunning). In-game it's the same old story of reused and regurgitated animations, moves and environment.
-
... What is being reused?
-
... What is being reused?
For starters the neon sign :p . Looking over that its same city pretty much the same bars and same shops . In-game (where you see a downgrade in graphics) it's the same old moves and animation. It's looks nice enough but it's hardly a massive leap , but given the team have so little time to make the game, it's no shock.
-
Kiryu looks off in the remake, to be honest. He's actually quite expressive in the original game but in here he has a permanent turbomad scowl on his face, it's almost comedic.
Would they do a prequel with the title being "6"?
Shit like that happens all the time, actually. Hope I'm wrong, though.
For starters the neon sign :p .
I know, right? That's gonna kill AT LEAST 90% of my enjoyment of this game because shit like that is fucking unadmissible these days and quite frankly, an insult to the fanbase.
...
Do you try to be this obnoxiously pedantic or does this shit come naturally?
-
Could be a flash back that is within the game. Maybe they are hiding quite a bit from us still. Or maybe they are using the good old asian aging technic where they look the same from 20-60 then randomly look super old.

I think being the 'same location' isn't the same as re-using assets. Reusing assets is when they get the texture from the old games and don't change them. I don't know what you expect a Japanese city to look like...

So other than some nice environmental effects what's new ? and the animation seems to be no different at all . Yakuza 6 just seems to be very much like the Yakuza on the PS3; Really impressive in the non game play sections In-game its quite a different story.
-
They've literally shown 2 things in this trailer. The new graphics engine and the new seamless movement system.
Spouting anything beyond these 2 aspects is just farting in the wind. And ironically enough the new system is showing plenty of new animations.
-
TA, have you played a Yakuza game? Holy shit, you don't think the animation looks different? I get it, you hate Nagoshi and don't think he will ever do a good job making games. But now you are just lying to yourself if you think this looks like the old PS3 games.

This remake, man.
This is Resident Evil Remake tier.
-
Looking a lot better than I thought it would(was skeptical). You can really see they wanted him to look close to his original ps2 look. Including in his posture

I love the likes of you asking me that, you got your PS4 yet ? . I still own and love the 1st games on the PS2 . I've long since sold my Yakuza 3, Kenzan and IV on the PS3 and been quite open and honest that when it comes to Part 5, Zero and Ishi I was playing the demo's.
Its the same stuff over and over again even the locations are all the same. The game is getting very much like Street Fighter II and its endless spin off's . All nice and well made games but the same stuff reused and nothing really new
you hate Nagoshi and don't think he will ever do a good job making games
.
Yet more twisting ? . I happen to love Supermonkey Ball 1 and II, Yakuza 1 and II, loved and want a sequel to Binary Domain. Hell I think I was the only one that loved Spikeout on the XBox . So don't give me that crap.
My issues with Nagoshi-san and more so the current SEGA/Sammy board is there's no forward thinking, no getting younger members to lead their own teams and make the games they like to make and not getting all of SEGA Japan piplelines up to next gen standards. Just like how Nagoshi-san and the likes of Naka and Suzuki-san were given their chance back inthe day.
When you give your team just a year to make a game, that kills creativity and kills any chance of us ever seeing some really new stuff
And ironically enough the new system is showing plenty of new animations
Other than a Tomb Raider inspired back to the wall walk . I'm seeing nothing new at all
-
Great. Are you saying the fighting punches are the same from Yakuza 3? I suggest you replay it then, refresh your memory and come back.

I'm saying over Yakuza IV it's nothing new . I 'play' the games I take issues with unlike 'some'
-
I do take issues, I said that the walking is the weakest point in the trailer. You said it was using all the stuff from the PS3 games and didn't look good outside of lighting.
