Brilliant stuff
Man I love that both costumes are in.

I dunno if Nintendo gives it more love, I think her popularity has to do with Nintendo publishing it. I don't think people that care about the games now, cared when they where released on 360 and PS3. This is a good move, especially for SEGA, seeing as its their property.
-
Can we also talk about the horrifyingly delightful tails/knuckles skins?
goddamn.

Well, according to interviews, I would say that Nintendo does seem to at least respect the series. Like Bayonetta 2 wouldn't exist without them, Nintendo didn't try to shy away from what Bayonetta is with censoring and whatnot (the opposite in fact), and the staff at Platinum Games seem perfectly accepting of working with Nintendo again for a hypothetical sequel.
Also yes I think this is a good move for both SEGA and Platinum Games, especially the former since they're trying to win back fans.
-
Sure, but then again, if SEGA never funded and published the first one or struck a deal with Platinum Games the franchise wouldn't exist at all. As you can see, after they left SEGA their original IP creation dropped quite a bit. One of the reasons they signed the contract with SEGA was because they allowed them to do what they want. Its great that Nintendo published a sequel, but lets not get ahead of ourselves, they did it to bring diversity to their platform. They know they have a hardcore Japanese fanbase and wanted those people to buy a Wii U. I don't mind, I own one. My comment was only that all the Nintendo fans that made a huge deal about Bayonetta 2, most of them are doing it because it was a Wii U exclusive and it goes with their fanboyism.

Wake me when Bayonetta is in Power Stone 3.

Wait a minute.. it didn't affect the SSB game's age rating?

Her breasts have been toned down (covered and seem smaller) and she doesn't appear to do her overly sexual moves.

Ahh.. I see... Make sense then.
-
Also I believe DLC doesn't effect the rating since it's separate, optional, and comes later after it's rated.
-
This is the best marketing that Nintendo has done for this game, I expect the sales to rise after this is out. Look at what it did to Fire Emblem.

On the flipside every person who's only gonna get the game now... Well lets not be too explicit.Lets just say Id rather have it be multiplat and touched by people who genuinly appreciated it.
-
I have always secretly wanted SEGA to have some clause for the game where they can 'remake' the game and repackage it on next gen with a different name. Bayonetta 2X (with new content) whatever. I think Tecmo pulled something like that with Ninja Gaiden. Remade it on Sony with 'Sigma' title. But sadly I thought the Sigma ones where inferior to the originals.
-
Could you imagine how great this could be if it wasn't stuck on a Nintendo console? A mix up of all the great characters from the industry.

I don't see the need to downplay the entire thing. Sega stopped giving a shit about Bayonetta, with its biggest contribution of late being a fucking casino slot machine while Nintendo not only makes the sequel happen, which turns out to be a better game than the original and one of the best games in the system, they also bring the character to their biggest system seller crossover game where the likes of Ryu, Cloud, Pacman, Megaman, Sonic and Mario all kick each other's asses. It's some insane top shelf VIP treatment, there's not other way to put it, she's side by side with some of the most iconic characters in gaming, you gotta give credit where credit is due.
Well, I did actually vote for Bayonetta in the ballots so I'm feeling a special kind of high. It's pretty fucking surreal. Europe confirmed for best taste. And the Kamiya twitter fib was hilarious.

I can understand one wanting an amazing studio like the one behind smash to broaden its horizons, but you might as well ask any studio to work for your main platform or all platforms. The reason why you wouldnt do that is an obvious one, yet nintendo studios get this a lot. I guess it makes sense because no other platform holder has been able to emulate the content nintendo makes to the same quality. Sony tried with playstation allstars, and if it succeeded your wish may have come true with how good sony's third party relationships is. I mean playstation allstras had I think a 50/50 share of 1st party and 3rd party characters? If it worked out better, characters like cloud, ryu and others may have been part of that franchise.
While they are good at copying each other in the AAA space with narrative driven/shooting games, they fail real hard at doing what nintendo does. Hence from that point of view I get where you're coming from. Its a real miss on other platforms is what I feel too. And I wish that wasnt the case

which turns out to be a better game than the original
I could not disagree more. Both were awesome, but I had far more fun with the original...

Nintendo doesn't really do anything better as such. Everything they do is quite basic really.

I would think it only looks that way on the surface? Not sure cuz i dont have gamedesign experience. With all their games i do feel that things are worked and thought out to the core. In smash' case, it just feels right. When you think about it, smash as a concept is pretty brilliant. Its not because a "platform fighter" is a smart idea. Its not. But the whole percentage thing, smashing others out of boundaries. How each character moves distinct with their own weight and feel. Extremely suited to the character's appearance. I dunno it feels very fleshed out. This latest one is also really good

As a massive fan of Stylish action games like Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden, Bayonetta 2 was better for since it was a much more focused game in the sense that it cut the fat and got rid of the superfluous stuff that didn't add anything to the gameplay of the first (QTEs, that giant racing level that overstayed its welcome, that giant rail shooter level that overstayed its welcome) and improved on weaker aspects of the game design such as the "Epic", giant slow ass bosses with obvious weak points that were glorified stage challenges which completely threw your combat knowledge out of the window since you'd be better off mashing buttons against said bosses or how Witch Time isn't removed out of the hardest difficulty as a cheap way of adding challenge.
Then there's more subjective aspects of the games that I prefer over the original, like the color pallete which is much brigther, vivid and energetic or Bayonetta and Jeanne's design which I think are MUCH better or the soundtrack which I also prefer and the overall massive amount of the content the game has for a game of this kind is staggering. And hey, the multiplayer actually works. I could be down for a throw down if anyone here is available.
Not to say the difference in quality is huge or anything or that Bayonetta 2 is perfect, which it isn't since it actually took got a little convoluted with the inclusion of the new mechanics (I have no idea why would anyone think that Torture Attacks sharing the same meter as Umbran Climax was a good idea since Climax will always prioritize over TA).

I literally said this is the best advertisment that SEGA has done. We don't even know how the funding was done for Bayonetta 2, so saying that 'SEGA doesn't give a shit' is just assuming you know what happen behind the scenes. If SEGA didn't give a shit why did they release a animated movie in Japanese theaters? If they thought the franchise was dead why did they just make a slot machine?
We already know that SEGA after 2012, there was a big shut down on what titles would get OK'd by the publisher and I don't blame them. SEGA for a long ass time was just releasing games and losing money. Would they have published Bayonetta 2? Yes.
I think people here like to pretend that Nintendo did it out of the kindness of their heart and that SEGA 'abandoned' the franchise. If they didn't believe in the franchise they could have sold it off to Nintendo whenever they wanted.
-

We got it straight from the horse's mouth, actually. Platinum gave the rundown in interviews. Sega canceled it but let them search partners, Microsoft said no, Sony said no, Nintendo said yes. The reason is irrelevant, they wanted the game in their console, so they did it.
-
Do you believe that is true? I mean, you think Microsoft said "NO" to Bayonetta and said yes to a new IP? At least Bayonetta sold 1.2 million and proved that it had fans. It makes zero sense to me. But if you think its 100% correct thats fine.
Also find it weird that Sony would be all for bringing Yakuza games over but won't nab a exclusive by a big named developer from Japan. Very strange, no?
Personally think that Platinum Games likes working with Nintendo and Nintendo working with Platinum Games. I don't think the deal with farther than that since they where already working with Nintendo. I think the franchise sticking with Nintendo is a bad move in the long run, just the way that sticking Sonic on there as exclusive would have been a bad move.
-
That illustration is glorious.

Dude, when your answer to official statements by the developers is tinfoil hat conspiracy drivel, I frankly don't know what to tell you. It got to the point where Kamiya started blocking people when idiots kept consistently asking why this game made with Nintendo money was only on a Nintendo console.
But to answer your question, if I think both Microsoft and Sony would say "no" to an expensive yet niche title that never really sold all that much in 2 consoles?
Well...yes, of course. It's pretty obvious to me, should be to you too. Whatever projects they're doing right now is irrelevant to the fact of how hard it is to sell a pure action game or how much they like working with this or that developer. Kamiya's working on Scalebound with Microsoft and they still said no to Bayo 2. Some shit gets greenlit, other shit doesn't. Period. The answer is much more boring than you seem to think it is.
After having a nerdrage hissy fit when Bayo 2 was first announced, you know what I learned after playing it? I go where Bayonetta is, Bayo 3 could be announced to fucking Mac tomorrow and I'd start making plans to get one in the future. As to the future of the franchise, if Nintendo seems to be the only one willing to fork money for the series, that's the best possible outcome it could ever have. Because brand loyalty and console wars are retarded. I'm in this hobby to play games.
-
Right, you need to relax and stop talking down to me. Why are you getting your panties in a twist because someone disagrees with your opinion? I know for a fact that Bayonetta 2 was in production before Nintendo picked it up, I can tell you that much and it didn't start production on the Wii U. Its nice that Nintendo picked it up (like I said) and most likely wouldn't come out when it did without their help (which I also stated). I just said that fans that promote it aren't really Bayo fans, they just do it cuz its a exclusive. Not saying that Bayonetta 1 didn't have a following, it did, but I felt like Bayonetta 2 had a bigger following from Nintendo fans that came out of nowhere. Like, starting online campaigns to get fans to buy the console with the game etc.
Remember #OperationPlatinum?

Does it really matter if they are tr00 fans or not? More sells hopefully mean more games. It shouldn't matter beyond that.
-
Bless europe for picking her as the number 1 choice

I was just saying, thats all. Whatever works. But I'm pretty sure Bayonetta 1 sold more than 2 did on Wii U.
-
I think people are missing the point that Bayonetta looks rad as hell and I want to main the hell out of her.

Yeah forreal. Bayonetta is gonna be in smash. Ive started to watch competitive play of the game and its pretty legit. What im looking forward to most is how viable she is gonna be and how she's gonna change the battles. This smash has really turned things around with character playstyles. Pacman for example is one who's very defensive and leads to long battles, but its fun to watch a different playstyle

Cause that's what I do, someone says something I disagree with and I slowly bring out the asshole in me. Don't take it personally or anything, it's usually how I do things when talking video games. Plus, you haven't said anything that really burned my buns, can't say the same about other hardcore Sega fans in here.
Anyway, I don't really care about whatever Nintendo fan that magically became a Bayonetta fan just because it became Nintendo exclusive or about their dumbass petitions, just like I don't care about the usual Sega petition (Except the PC ports petition because it's actually sensible). Some of them might be driven out of console wars, others might have become genuine fans, considering the WiiU is the only console with the entire series available but according to Sakurai's numbers, the number of votes Bayonetta got were basically the same as the sales numbers of Bayonetta 1 and Bayonetta 2 put together so it's not that far fetched.
That said, I'd say that the vast majority of Platinum Game fans share my sentiment about following the games. They have to be as console agnostic as PG is, considering they've done exclusive games for every single console this generation. But at this point, with this Smash reveal, the chances for a Nintendo Bayo 3 in their next console are higher than never. It would be nice to see Sega with its head out of its ass and announce a full fledged multiplatform sequel spread across all 3 consoles.

A bit obvious, but it looks like Nintendo's involvement with Bayonetta 2 made negotiations to add her in Smash easier. And of course, there were issues involving the various rating systems that had to be dealt with.
-
To tell the truth…Going through the ratings board for each country/region was extremely difficult. In particular, Japan’s rating board was very strict on Bayonetta’s sexy antics, and there were many times where I thought “You’re not even going to let this through?”
