http://mynintendonews.com/2016/02/29/sega-survey-available-to-help-them-make-better-games/
What do you think guys? Think they will listen to us this time? Have they done this in the past? Because if they haven't is a new leaf for Service Games?
-
Was just going to post this. Direct link: http://bit.ly/TWSeg
Also, nice SegaBits mention at the end of the survey.
Looks like Sega is trying to figure out which franchises people enjoy most, and gather some opinions on mobile.
-
Yea I noticed that too! Is this site affiliated with SEGA in any way? Or did they just do that to show that they are aware of the dedicated fanbase?
-
None of those sites listed were affiliated with SEGA.
-
Also I noticed not all of SEGAs IPs are there! Games such as Bonanza Bros and Decap Attack weren't on the list to my knowledge so clearly the IPs on the list must just be the ones they deem to have potential?
-
Weird that they listed our youtube, but not www.segabits.com.
-
Nice move SEGA!
P.S
They've even mentioned Shenmue!! :)
-
Weird that our YouTube channel got a mention but our website did not, though I'm not bothered. SEGAbits.com pulls in more traffic than any other general SEGA blog on there and we are on SEGA's radar seeing as we work with them on contests and they shared our news story recently about Metacritic 3DS scores.
If anything, it makes me wonder if SEGA sees the new direction of the SEGAbits youtube as being more influential than it was before.
Odd to see Sonic Stadium not making the list, while Sonic Retro does.
-

They remembered Seaman too!
Wait a minute...*adjusts specs*
No ECHM! This is an outrage!? *flips desk*
;)
-
I was pleased to fill out the survey though it struck me as more of a "what franchises do you like" kinda survey rather than a "help our games be better" one as advertised.
I got asked a lot about why I don't play cell phone games.
-
Yeah, same. I'll say what I said on it here:
They just don't appeal to me as a gamer. They usually have little depth to them, awkward controls, pop up ads and full of microtransactions.
-
I still play Baku Baku on a regular basis
-
You guys clicked our youtube as a source of SEGA news, right?! GUYS GUYS!?
Also: Seaman isn't even owned by SEGA and neither is Toe Jam and Earl. But I don't think the people working there know this.
-
I took the survey, was happy to pass it around to friends too. I agree it felt like a "which franchises do you want to see return and how" survey, but I'm okay with that. Hopefully this will make the people who hate SEGA because they won't release x franchise raise an eyebrow. At the very least, it's good to see some actual communication going on.
-
Yes I did choose Segabits Youtube Channel.
Also I chose "other - segabits.com" as the place I found out about the poll.
They did not mention Beyond Oasis in their list. :( But I listed it as on of my favorite sega franchises anyway

Due to the end of that survey, I am slightly worried it's more like:
Which franchises would you like to see return, and would mobile be okay if they did?
-
I feel like, if they take any of this survey seriously, we're not gonna see big, brand new results for a few years. I think what they'll do is they'll look at the games most commonly selected in the list, see how much people favor mobile, and then decide "okay, we're gonna do some remasters and re-releases and see if people are really serious about this." What I hope then happens is that people actually buy the remasters they put out, otherwise they'll see it as a huge waste of time and money and give up.
-
God damn it, I was in the middle of it, went back a page by accident and the survey died on me. Now it only says that I've done it and can't do shit.
I was on a roll too. I never waste an opportunity to say to Sega they need to make more Panzer Dragoon games. But man, I was sucking Sega's old school penis harder than a 2 dollar whore on happy hour.
Now I don't know if what I wrote is even readable.
-
I believe SEGA's mobile division held this poll, hence the mobile heavy back half of questions. However, having worked for many businesses that hold surveys, just because one department holds it does not mean the data is just for them. I could see every branch of SEGA benefitting from this info.
-
Done and Done
-
I hope people don't expect sequels from Panzer Dragoon, NiGHTS, Skies of Arcadia, and so on from these polls. Got to have some sort of standard with expectations, otherwise you'll just end up as a whimpering mess.
I'd say out of that list, at least keep an eye out on Yakuza, Sonic, Puyo Puyo, Football Manager, and Phantasy Star, mainly because they're still IPs SEGA uses so naturally would get attention first. Everything else be more cautious on.
(That's actually depressing...)
-
well maybe not sequels, but this might lead to some much request ports finally happening...at least I hope that's the case.
Though a new Phantasy Star in the style of the original series would be welcomed (anyone ever played Nova? how is it?)
-
Seen gameplay and its basically Phantasy Star Online without Online and a story.
-
I'm thinking I should have explained further for House of the Dead and Virtua Cop. Light gun shooters are having it rough because the standard accessory isn't around and motion controllers are phased out. I told them essentially to experiment with rail shooters. I wish I told them to also try making arcade-like run and gun games. Anything but making HotD like any other Zombie game on the market.
-
No Shining Force on the list of franchises either. I don't mind mobile games as long as they are designed for tablet use. Playing mobile games that are just churned out 1 after the other with no innovation is what prevents me from even trying them. Games that require you to wait 5 years to complete one task is also a buzzkill. Also playing on a 5" phone screen just sucks, I don't understand how people do it and enjoy it.
-
Realistic Expectations be damned.
I put The Ocean Hunter, Star wars Trilogy Arcade, Lost World Arcade, Lets go Jungle, and After Burner Climax on that list of favorite games. Q.Q
-
After Burner Climax actually appeared in the mobile section. I asked for more arcade ports like that. Mobile OutRun would be fun.
-
Think it would be far easier if SEGA just said which games should we port and also developer for the mobile . Its quite clear their intent
-
How will all this data be processed? Will they have real people reading through all of this?

I was wondering the same thing...

Jeez this guy's so paranoid......
-
I dont watch this kind of videos, but he is a good guy, he really respect SEGA and what the did and still do to these days. I prefer all the time guys like him than arrogant people who think that the only good games from SEGA are the ones that THEY have played.
-
How will all this data be processed? Will they have real people reading through all of this?
Typically there is an internal team, or more often an external company, tasked with organizing the results. The tick boxes will be easy to document, and likely the written portions will be combed through. I am certain that spammy "SHENMUE!!!!111" or "DREAMCAST 2!!!1111" or "FAK U SEGA I HATE MOBILE!!!" surveys will be ignored.

spammy "SHENMUE!!!!111" or "FAK U SEGA I HATE MOBILE!!!" surveys will be ignored.
They are nothing more than expressions of extreme feelings for/against the objects of the survey. I find them pretty relevant..
That's the thing. How will this data be interpreted? I remember filling out similar surveys in the past and it got us Golden Axe for iPod touch or sum shit. Well....thanks..
-
I don't know.... I think they are well aware of the complainers on twitter and facebook. They ignore them there, and they might ignore them here. They might say X amount were spamming us, or X amount wanted Shenmue HD which we could pass on to people who care about that.
-
If spamming SHENMUE ROXX0rz makes them release HD versions I'll do it.
-
They are nothing more than expressions of extreme feelings for/against the objects of the survey.
They're idiots blowing hot air that's neither constructive or relevant. Or in the case of the "Dreamcast 2", plain pathetic.
-
Still, there are legitimate gripes towards how SEGA has handled things, sometimes it is well addressed, sometimes it's blurted it out, other times it's dumb "haha, I'm an internet comedian, look at how witty I am taking down SEGA with dated humor!" Same applies to much requested games/ports.
I guess we'll see how they discern the responses.
Seen gameplay and its basically Phantasy Star Online without Online and a story.
Ah, I see, still would like to see it come over, though I imagine with the Vita's performance outside of Japan that's unlikely (it's just like VC3!)
