London, June 7th – SEGA and ATLUS are gearing up for a memorable E3 with a diverse range of awesome titles available to see or play around the show! We’ll take you to the Grimdark future with behind closed doors presentations of Relic Entertainment’s futuristic strategy epic; Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, which you’ll also be able to catch at the PC Gamer Show on 13 th June. We’ll transport you back in time to the mean streets of 1980s Tokyo with Yakuza 0, before fast forwarding to modern day Japan and a world where the ordinary clashes with the extraordinary, in the hotly anticipated ATLUS title, Persona 5. Both will have a presence on the show floor at the SEGA & ATLUS stand located in the West Hall, Booth #4810.Sonic is back for E3 2016 with Sonic Boom: Fire and Ice, playable on the stand along with the forthcoming dragon hunting RPG tale, 7 th Dragon III Code: VFD. E3 takes place at the Los Angeles Convention Centre from June 14 th – June 16 th, 2016 and this year is an historic year in gaming terms as it will be the first E3 collaboration between SEGA and subsidiary company, ATLUS, who will share a stand on the show floor.
“Over the last few years SEGA have acquired Relic Entertainment and ATLUS and the results are evident now, with what is one of the strongest line-ups we have had at E3 for quite a few years,” said Jurgen Post, COO For SEGA Europe Ltd. “Being able to show Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III to the world’s media for the first time, while allowing show-goers to experience hugely popular titles like Yakuza 0 underlines the direction the business is moving in.”

Not trying to be negative, but I'm really struggling to find anything but Sonic's anniversary game to get excited about from SEGA at the moment. Yakuza is good, but nothing that really jumps out at me.

It's a good line up, I mean bar Sonic Fire and Ice all of those games are very likely quality titles. But the one thing the line up is missing is a suprise announcement.  I think SEGA should strive to have at least one surprise at each E3. Doesn't have to be anything wild... Just something new.

Nothing to be excited for on this list. I never heard of 7th Dragon, never played a Persona game in my life as they don't look appealing to me. Never liked Yakuza, and Sonic is tired and old. I however will get Warhammer DOW 3 when its on sale for 75% off on Steam, so about 9 months after it releases.

Well, I'm excited about Yakuza 0. Gotta have something to hold me over until Shenmue 3. I wonder if they have plans to release Persona 5 in Europe. There's been certainly a lot of chatter on the web over it.

I get that never hearing of a game would lessen one's excitement (lord knows SEGA isn't the best at marketing their stuff) but writing off 7th Dragon because you've never heard of it is a bit unfair.

I'd suggest giving George's impressions a listen and checking out the trailer:

While I do think that this year's show is missing that one BIG title, which will undoubtably turn out to be the Sonic 25th Anniversary game which will be revealed at the fan event in July, everything on display looks to be good to great. I've been hearing positive things about Fire & Ice, it's far better than the first 3DS game. Yakuza 0 and 7th Dragon, having already released in Japan, have received good scores, and Persona 5 is sure to be great. Warhammer, while not a game SEGA fans are yearning for, will also be good.

7th Dragon doesn't look too bad. Not something I would buy if I owned a DS, maybe borrow from a friend or rent.

It's actually a very soild line up as is... If they announce one more game, I'll be really happy. Sonic would be nice.

I mean, at least it's not Nintendo's barebones line up.

If they have anything to announce it'll probably be at sony/MS/nintendo's show

Just a thought, but maybe it's because SEGA are missing a big Western title?

RTS games have their audience and so do Japanese games, but there's no Alien Isolation 2 or anything designed by a western development team that caters to our side of the globe.

Persona 5 would be the one BIG title. It's been in development for a long time and it shows, you can tell just by how much effort they put into the game's stylistic visuals:

It's also incredibly hyped up by gaming press and Persona has gotten a pretty big fanbase online thanks to Persona 3 and especially 4 slowly getting more and more popular.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about a Sega title.

Persona 5 is absolutely monumental but not so much for Sega fans.

Atlus is Sega though :V

It's also clear that Atlus games are getting more attention at E3 than Sega is. So much so that they're calling it the Atlus booth.

It's a solid line up and very Japanese. Imagine if the 3 special announcements were the new Sonic title, Shenmue HD and PSO2 finally coming west...that would be a classy return to form!

A new Sonic title will be revealed at the July event, no question. An E3 tease is possible... but I'm going to say unlikely. Shenmue HD is, I feel, too far out if it IS happening. I feel 2017 is a safer bet. PSO2 is dead in the water for all we know, I can't see SEGA announcing it at E3.

Not in the way that matters. Atlus and Sega are completely independent from each other as far as public perception goes and no one really associated either companies' game with each other and it's pretty disingenuous to think otherwise. Persona is Atlus and Yakuza is Sega.

That said, it sucks how they didn't show Yakuza 0 in the Sony conference.

Speaking of Yakuza 0, Atlus USA is handling the localization of that. :V

Actually, that only proves my point, Atlus is so independent and so well established that they handle the localization of Sega projects, which should by all means able to do handle localization projects but we know how that goes.

But you know what's bullshit? Sony thought it was a good idea to trade Persona 5 and Yakuza 0 for 20 minutes of Dad of War: Last of Us and Not Last of Us: Biker edition in their conference. Fucking borefest.

Gonna watch Yakuza 0 interview after work.

It made sense though. Yakuza and Persona are both very Japanese games and although they're still great, the western market has gotten more dominant over the years.

Have to say, apart from Yakuza appearing in the Sony conference I've seen little of SEGA at E3 and I follow most of their social media and YouTube channel. Seems a bit weak if I'm honest and this is why they needed that 'big' title. They bring attention to themselves as a whole.

It's because outside of what's shown during the press conferences, games that are shown at E3 probably aren't going to get much media attention. Sega especially isn't with how outside of their RTS games and Alien, their games have become a niche. If Sega has a "big" title, it wouldn't be something for Sega fans. It'd be Dawn of War or an Aliens game. The only exception to the rule is maybe Sonic and Shenmue 3, the latter only because of how ridiculous and unexpected the announcement was and how vocal the fanbase is.

This is why more and more publishers are starting to do their own press events. Activision and EA in particular are no longer at E3 outside of letting Microsoft and Sony show their games, with EA just doing their own event right before E3. This is sort of what Sega is doing as well with Sonic. If they have a big Sonic game announcement, they're not going to announce it at E3. They're going to announce it at the 25th anniversary party next month that they've been hyping up so much.

Even Nintendo is pulling out, choosing to instead of showing their next console at E3 to only show what they already announced and revealing the NX at their own event this Fall.

A true man's game.

The fact that Yakuza 0 also seems like the best game in the series in terms of gameplay is just icing on the cake. 60fps real time style switch, motherfuckers.
