I'll be watching it, despite not owning a Wii or any other Nintendo product besides the NES and GBA.
-
OKAY!
Okay okay.
Fuck.
There is plenty of FAIL thus far. Microsoft was a ballet compared to this.
Awkward Miyamoto reveal, tripping through the curtain... c'mon...
;)
-
Zelda looks nice.
I hate Zelda anyway so take that as you will..
-
Agreed, looks nice. Though the coolness of wiimote Zelda has grown old. Perhaps if they had a surprise in the next few minutes...?
-
AHHH! The controls are failing on Miyamoto! Interference... sure, sure....
-
Mario... Volleyball... *sigh*
and Hockey...
and dodge ball...
and basketball...
and it's a Sports Mix.
Basically Nintendo shooting their load and getting all the Mario Sports titles out of the way.
-
Now they're saying: "Some say we suck, but look at the numbers."
Wii fucking Party.
-
Goldeneye. Wasn't that a game on the N64?
-
Epic Mickey?
Epic Fail!
Give me this any day:

-
Look at those chubby Nintendo fans smiling about their fat pink hero.
Kirby is a ball of yarn?
-
More Metroid...
More Donkey Kong (sans Rare)...
yawn...
At this point I'm just talking to myself and racking up Karma points.
To summerize: Nintendo just brings back the same IPs again and again and again until you get numb to it.
A new Nintendo home console is the only thing that would invigorate these old franchises. I'm done.
Oh look, 3DS...

Zelda: Are people sick of motion control Zelda yet? Also, clunky presentation.
Mario: Lame mini game compilation. Pass.
Kirby: Graphical style is unique, but it's hardly the next BIG Kirby game. Looks akin to a XBLA or PSN game.
Donkey Kong: Looks to be a remake, sans Rare.
Epic Mickey: Best of the bunch.
Dragon Quest: How many have they made now? Pass.
Golden Sun: First game was fun! Shame it's still chained to the portable platform.
Goldeneye: Remake: boring. I'd take the HD Perfect Dark over this. Still, people seemed happy to see a game based on a Pierce Brosnan movie.
Metroid: Never was into Metroid, I feel like I've seen this game before.
Kid Icarus: Looks pretty, too bad the entry fee is a new piece of hardware.
-
Jesus, there's nothing but negativity in this thread. Well I'll say that I loved it. Kirby's art style had me blown away. I sat there looking at my tv with a massive smile on my face throughout most of the trailer.
Mario Sports Mix was kind of funny to see. Nintendo's already put out Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. I'm pretty sure there's enough sports minigames on the Wii as is.
Zelda looks good even though the controls were messing up. Since SMG was such a smoothe game I'll believe them on the interference issue even if it wasn't really interference. It could've been the position of the sensor bar.

Everyone at Segabits hates Nintendo.
Besides me
Best E3 ever. Well, lets see Sony's
-
Hey, I had to keep the hate alive! Can't have this place turning into The Sonic Stadium.
"OMFG MIYAMOTO! ^____^!!!!"
-
Go to E3.Nintendo.Com for Miyamoto/Iwata asks
-
I'm going to go cuz Barry is whining too much.
But I have to say, best Nintendo E3 since 2006.
-
I can't believe I missed it.
retro making a 2d Donkey Kong Country!!!!
Also, shame to see the 2011 release for Zelda.
-
Can I post Mario Sports Mix as SEGA E3 news? I detected a hint of SEGA DNA.
-
WTF is that suppose to mean? Are you seriously butthurt because I said the same thing you did yesterday?
-
I'm watching some of the trailers now.
Donkey Kong Country Returns: Really, was this necessary? The old DKC games looked good for their time but were only above average hop and bop platformers underneath it all. They weren't exactly begging for a revival.
Kid Icarus Uprising: Hooray for the return of pretty boy Pit! ^___^ Other than that, since it's a handheld game, I'll probably never get to play it.
Kirby's Epic Yarn: I really hate the word "epic" nowadays; but whatever, besides that, the game itself looks great! It's soooo kawaii ^__^
Zelda Skyward Sword: Back to cel shading, it would seem. These results don't look fantastic, but they do look better than TP's by a looooooooong, long shot.
Epic Mickey: Definitely looks better than before. Why didn't they change the name, though?
Mario Sports Mix: The Wii needed more mini-game collections.
Goldeneye: who cares
Golden Sun: who cares
Dragon Quest: who cares
Metroid: who cares
-
Hey, I had to keep the hate alive! Can't have this place turning into The Sonic Stadium.
"OMFG MIYAMOTO! ^____^!!!!"
True that lol, one of the reasons I cant stand that place.
-
Care:
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kid Icarus Uprising
Kirby's Epic Yarn
Epic Mickey
Golden Sun
Metroid Other M
Dragon Quest 9
Do Not Care:
Mario Sports Mix
Zelda Skyward Sword
Golden Eye

I liked Nintendo's press conference, overall. I liked seeing Miyamoto make a fool out of himself because the controllers weren't responding.
I like the looks of Kirby and Donkey Kong, mainly because I liked Wario Shake Dimension a lot. It's cool to make 2D games again, I guess. Epic Mickey looks promising too and I'm interested in Golden Sun and Metroid.
Good call on Kid Icarus. Making the sheep buy the new system for the game they've been whining about for so long. Overall, I approve this conference. It had some moments of casual bullshit but without interfering with the flow of the presentation. Nintendo finally realised only the core gamers know what E3 is.
Sega's logo said hello during the keynote btw.
Also, lol Nintendogs + Cats. Sega released a cat game for DS before. PORT IT
-
Taking off my angry SEGA fanboy hat:
Honestly, Nintendo had a decent show. Lots of platformers and old IPs returning. Kirby and Donkey Kong could have been a bit grander, and Mario does not need another sports game, but the rest looked to please Nintendo fans. Overall, good show. More of the same, but Wii owners should be pleased. However, if you don't own a Wii now, there was little there to say "now is the time to own a Wii". It was more like "2011 is the time to consider a Wii". 3DS looks interesting ,but I wonder how the older DS games will fare on it. Didn't he mention that the top screen is no longer touch sensitive? Won;t that impact older games?
As for me being butthurt, I'm not. Especially not for the fact that you (George) said what I said yesterday. I'm mostly annoyed at the continued conspiracy theorists out there claiming that every single Kinect demo has been smoke and mirrors. It's just crazy talk. The circus show was fake, ESPN was possibly fake but for good reason (don't give sports announcers control of video games) and the rest was legit.
-
Not all of them, but some where. Which is sad, since everyone that believed in it has been saying to wait for E3 and they put up fake footage. The pet game was painfully fake, the Forza one and obviously Star Wars. I do not know what to think of the Dancing one, but the rest where real. Wonky, but real.
-
I thought it was pretty good. The beginning was HORRIBLE though. Zelda controls weren't working and the game itself looked the same as any other Zelda game.
Epic Mickey is still a huge disappointment for me after seeing the awesome concept art. Though, I do like the look of that black and white level....
Metroid looks good. I'm not really into Metroid, but I love what I'm seeing in Other M.
But the platformer fanatic in me is jumping for joy over Donkey Kong Country Returns! It looks awesome!
Kirby's Yarn or whatever has a really cool visual style, but I'm not into Kirby games, so I don't know if I'll like the gameplay.
I REALLY DESPERATELY want to see the 3DS in action! And I loved the stupid "demonstration" video with Reggie, Iwata, and Miyamoto. The Regginator kicks ass.
I didn't care about anything else.
So yeah, pretty good.

sega's 3DS launch line up or something:

from: press.nintendo.com/E32010 (user: guest/pass: nintendo)

Well, it can't be Sonic Colors, can it?
Also, Monkey Ball seems to love being a launch title. I'm surprised it didn't appear for the Kinect.
-
Didn't he mention that the top screen is no longer touch sensitive? Won;t that impact older games?
The top screen was never touch sensitive. He said they opted by not making the top screen touch sensitive on the 3DS for some reason I don't recall.
-
I was just waiting for him to sing ROLLLLING STARRRRRRT! and announce Daytona USA 3DS.
-
I'm repeating myself from the Sega forums, but you guys have to realize that Nintendo is using the same 'bait and switch' strategy they did with DS and Wii by goading the hardcore with these hardcore franchise offerings (of which 80% won't even be released 6 months after the system's release) to establish the system with the core audience before casual spamming the hell out of it to go after the broader markets.
You will see PSP2 eventually with 3D features and real next-gen portable graphics and all of the sudden 3DS won't be so cool or interesting.
In any case, portable console gaming will continue its slide as Apple gains increasingly more share with their multimedia portable experience.
-
Metroid: Other M is the one I'm looking forward to the most. However I was wishing the music in trailer was going to build, but they just repeated same section of music over and over again. It's too bad, because the piece of music they used for that trailer is quite fantastic.
Nintendo's conference turned out to be pretty good. The Sony conference is the one I'm really eager for though.
-
I came into E3 2010 expecting the next The Legend of Zelda game to totally rock my world, but the results... Ugh...
Good showing overall though, was kind of expecting more of Epic Mickey, Iwata parts were boring, and I am fucking furious a Donkey Kong Country revival game looks a billion times better than Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Also no Pikmin 3 for a third time in a row and no word on The Last Story. : <
Guess I am done with Wii now.
-
The Vitality Sensor wasn't missed.
-
I am really worried about Metroid: Other M, considering I've been a Metroid fan since way back Metroid 2, I'm worried the direction they are taking the series in.
Donkey Kong Country looks good, I only got to see part of it, but now that I've seen a lot of it, Retro Studio knows what they are doing.
Also yay at Golden Sun 3!
-
I'm so glad I'm quitting gaming and I direct that sentiment towards all three conferences. (only one did I bother to watch partly)
Seriously, time to unbitch yourself from this creatively failing industry that has turned into a laughable sham and troll of itself.
Notice the Kevin Butler speech said something about gaming being king and the master? That is the mentality the marketers want to foster to create a dependency on gaming to substitute for the reality that gaming as an art an entertainment is at an all time low.
-
the 3DS is fucking nice.
-
Zelda was hugely disappointing, Golden Sun DS and Kid Icarus looked great though

You've been 'quitting gaming' for the last 12 months or something. Are you going to do it or not? It sounds like you just keep saying that for the sake of drama.
I play Video Games for fun and enjoyment, and I'm still having plenty of fun and enjoyment playing them so I don't see any need to quit.
As for Nintendo E3, I didn't stay up to watch the conference, but I was talking to a friend and read this thread, it seems like it blew the hell out of MS's conference (Which wasn't hard). Saw the trailer for the new Icarus, seems fun but nothing amazing in terms of production values. The gameplay looks like it should shine though.
Will have to check out the Epic Mickey and other trailers later on.
-
Man, Donkey Kong Reborn makes me more excited the more I watch the trailer. Looks better than part 3 so far.
-

You know, even with DKC's gameplay being as average as it is, I can't say that I disagree with your sentiments.
But is DKCR going to be a downloadable title? I know that developers on Wiiware have a harsh size limit for games.
-
Its a full game.
It'll have tons of levels.

friend, I have made a major divestment of my gaming collection over the past 2 years. I just got rid of a huge haul of stuff. I'm down to the essentials now, which is why I made the post about whether I should get rid of DC. You have to keep in mind that this has been my life for 30 years and it takes time to wind down from something like that. My game expenses and purchases are down to almost nothing and not watching any of the shows this year marks a big change for me.
If you're still enjoying it that is your deal, though I will say your judgment of whether you time in gaming now was well spent may change when your older.
The only thing I will enforce to you is my belief that the industry is in decline and that you will see that by the sales numbers. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I really think you are going to see that. Lack of creativity and innovation. . . $400 for motion control gaming to new buyers in a weak economy with high unemployment. .not looking too good.
I think you will see that decline as soon as the next NPD.
-
Pricing for the move was retarded. But this is about Nintendo's E3. Which I think they hit it out of the ballpark compared to everyone else. They are the only company with the balls to release a 2-D title that focuses on gameplay and not graphics. But not only that, release it as a retail game.

What are you on? The graphics were phenomenal for Donkey Kong Country Reborn!
I think Ubisoft won overall though. Seriously, it is no competition, they had Joel McHale!
-
Donkey Kong Country looks amazing, I have fond memories of the originals (although they were probably only good because they looked awesome at the time) and Retro studios have proven they can give existing franchises justice (see Metroid Prime), probably my game of the show.

Was talking about Kirby.
-
Kirby looks freakishly amazing. I love it for the SNES. Used to play it on emulators all the time (I'll never play a SNES).
I love Nintendo now. Nintendo is the Jesus of gaming.
-
Its a full game.
It'll have tons of levels.
I hope that by "tons" you mean that it will have more levels than NSMB Wii did.
-
I was really impressed with Nintendo's conference overall.
It was too bad that they had so many issues in the Zelda portion, but apparently it works perfectly on the show floor.
Honestly, aside from the 3DS, it was the new Kirby game that impressed me the most. I was a big fan of Kirby's Adventure on the NES, and I'm really loving the art style in this new one.
I'm cautiously optimistic about the new GoldenEye, but really looking forward to a good chunk of the games they showed.
I can't wait to see the 3DS first hand.

Which was like 10 per world + bonus levels?

I'll bet I'm as old as you or older, and I've sold games and systems and ended up buying them back because I missed them. I love the Saturn, and I've bought and sold Virtual On 3 times. I've bought the Dreamcast, sold it, and bought it back again. I agree with downsizing, and it feels good to get rid of clutter, but right now I wish I still had guardian Heroes. I say take extra care with what you get rid of.

Funnily enough, I was just playing Guardian Heroes again last week. Also, I'm glad I never sold my Dreamcast stuff, I had friends over just last night and we played NBA Showtime and UEFA Dream Soccer for hours on end. If they had come round to play those games and I told them I'd sold them for $2 each, surely they would have set upon me with axe-handles and left my battered corpse in the gutter somewhere.

Yeah, I went through a lot of thought about everything I got rid of because my biggest fear is rebuying stuff later, but I'm pretty sure I'll be okay. I kept a ton of Saturn CDR's and I still have several Saturn controllers with USB adaptors and most games play nice on Yabuse or SSF.
I really think I'm going to be okay getting rid of DC with the games going digital.
I just love the thought of going down to one console. I used to have drawers that were these horrible tangles of various system's controllers and extension cables and adapters that was a nightmare that actually kept me from playing some of my legacy systems.
