Started already!
I wish SEGA had more of a presence at these things. Why can't they be marched out with the other third party devs?
Really pushing the 3D. Eeeeee....
-
Sony Superstars Movers confirmed.
Coca Cola Move confirmed.
-
Heroes on the Move looks like it could be quite good. 8-)
-
Kevin's speech is taking up a lot of time.
-
Eye: $40
Navigator: $30
Move: $50
total: $120
or
Eye, Move & game: $100
Nav: $30
total: $130
or if you own the camera
$80 per player
Pricing ball is in Microsoft's court. I think this is what they've been waiting for.
edit: solo controller $50, navigation controller $30. controller and eyetoy - $100, bundle with ps3 $400
-
Hooray! Valkyria Chronicles II!
^__^
-
4 players would cost... $360.
Spooky.
-
Little BiG Planet 2 seems to let you make some cool minigames at least.
-
True, LBP2 looks fun. Where is The Last Guardian? :(
Oh, and PS+ made me laugh.
"The competition charges $50. We... charge $49.99."
Uh....
And also: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029LJIFG (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029LJIFG)
Don't look like $50 to me.

Final Fantasy XIV
I hate this.
But people should have guessed that by now.
-
Can't fault Sony for showing some games.
Just shown Gran Turismo, Infamous 2 and now a new Twisted Metal Game.
-
Good read: http://gizmodo.com/5491379/mental-math- ... -expensive (http://gizmodo.com/5491379/mental-math-the-playstation-move-experience-is-going-to-be-expensive)
-
New Twisted Metal has one of the most complicated death match modes I've ever seen.
-
It was a pretty good conference. It didn't wow my as much as last year, but it was pretty good.
Out of all the games shown I would have to say I'm looking forward to Valkyria Chronicles II the most.
-
post-show thoughts:
3DTV: still very niche, but Sony seems to think it is the next logical step in gaming. I say next gen will embrace 3D, but not right now.
Move: you know where I stand. It's a more responsive Wii HD that costs too much when considering 4 player gaming.
Games: Cool exclusives, LBP2 and Twisted Metal look good. Exclusive content for multi-format games is cool too. Although for every piece of exclusive content one system has, another system has exclusives for something else.
PSP: Marcus needs to be shown the exit.
PS+: A nifty service, but I wish Sony would stop dragging the XBOX Gold membership cost though the mud. Gold is $35, not $50. Smart shoppers don't spend $50 on Gold. I only hope for PS3 owner's sake that there is a way to get PS+ for less. $50 is too much.
Overall: good. better focus on games, but most were multi-format so I can't really applaud Sony specifically. Prices for PS+ and Move are too much. No mention of The Last Guardian made me very sad. The one PS3 game I care about.
-
No PS2 games on PSN? I am disappoint.
Otherwise, nice.
-

I would assume The Last Guardian won't come out until 2011 or possibly 2012 so that might have factored into why there was no footage of it this year. But I'm with you, out of all the Sony releases The Last Guardian is definitely my most highly anticipated.
-
Personal highlights: Gabe Newell    (that's about it really)
I can't believe the amount of effort they're putting in that fad called 3D. "put your glasses on, take your glasses off" ... Please... I already have my real glasses.
I'm glad they got Valkyria's platform right this time. I still don't understand why they keep pushing the PSP though. The console is as good as dead. They should drop the price.
Speaking of price drops, nothing was announced. Boohoo. Only reference to price is Move being ridiculously expensive. You only need to buy one Kinect for everybody...
PSN premium is retarded. After the subscription runs out you can't play the games anymore. Cool. They really needed something to control the costs. Everybody knew it wouldn't be like this forever. Regular PSN will become Xbox Live Silver with the online multiplayer...Still better, as long as the network works and Sony doesn't send out faulty patches.
Also, no Ueda, no Suzuki. Maybe on TGS.
-
Personal highlights: Gabe Newell
That was quite funny.
-
Not that impressed bar GT 5 and Killzone III which just looked off the scale . All I will say its that its pretty much game over for MS this E3 , they've been humiliated by both SONY and even NCL .
Still all 3 had poor showings , and imo Ubisoft have won E3 with just one game
If I was SEGA Japan I would sit down my teams make they watch EDEN until their eye's bleed , and give the mandate Beat that , and I mean Beat it . Hopefully we then might get a REZ II .
-
Both move and Kinect will be expensive. But only one of the two will work and play good games. Hint: Not Kinect.
I won't be either. Sad. No Last Guardian release date.
Regardless: Nintendo>Sony>Microsoft.
PSN+ sounds better than xbox live already. Has gaming content. Will try it. I don't need to keep DLC.
-
Surprisingly disappointing showing from sony, gabe thanking people for not punching his face in was amusing but I was really hoping for some surprises and the last guardian
-

Yep, if you're actually able to download it before the subscription runs out.
-
Hum its called renting. Are you not familiar with how that works? Netflix does not let you keep movies. If you want to buy the DLC, buy it.
Seriously, what a retarded thing to laugh about. You act like renting is brand new concept.
3 Months test drive is good.

Did I say otherwise? I merely joked at the fact the PSN's infrastructure is shit and everything takes ages to download. Stop being offended every time someone says something about Sony. It's annoying and it's not funny anymore.

I'm not really offended at all. Everything loads the same to me as the 360. I'm not offended, just that you same the same stupid shit more than once. Its a rental service, you know that, so then your trolling.
Really getting sad now.
Trailer for PSN+ says if you get 1 year, you get Littlebigplanet for free. I will not, I don't like being 'stuck' with something I might not like later.

Yes, you are offended. Note to self, not argue with fanboys. God damn it, Orta. You never learn.
-
Seriously? I'm not really offended, how is you not understanding how a rental service work going to offend me? I'm confused. Are you serious or are acting dumb?
-
Do not fight with fanboys, lest ye become a fanboy youself. And when you gaze into the rage, the rage gazes also into you.
-
What is this fighting? No one is fighting, I just stated the obvious. Its a rental service.

I know how rentals work. The question is, do you? They are not renting games. They are allowing you to play a selection of games you do not choose. Is that the point of renting? If I go out to the video club I'm allowed to chose any movie I want. I think it still works that way. But yeah, go on ahead and pay for PSN Plus. If it's a subscription service on Playstation, then it must be good.
Also,
Automatic Download:
We wanted to offer members the speediest service possible so sign up and you can set your PS3 to automatically receive the latest game updates for all the games you play, PS3 system software updates and even have game demos sent directly to your PS3 without lifting a finger.
Good game.

I'm about to go to my friend's place and watch his recording of Sony's conference.
After reading through the comments here, I have a feeling that I'm not going to be blown away. :P

You get to try more games for the same amount as Live. How is this a negative. Did you see the other stuff?
I'm quite fine with you not liking it. I'm questioning it myself as well. But at least its a service that I can try and ditch without much of a risk. If I don't like features in Gold, I can't do shit, cuz Live forces me to buy it just to get the full enjoyment out of my games.

HOLY CRAP! Instant buy!

I can try (I think by try you mean play a demonstration?) all Live Arcade games. All of them have demos. You don't get to play trials of full games on Live though, but paying to play timed (or whatever, just speculating here) demos of full games is a tad too much for me. I do agree it's an interesting feature but many games have demos anyway. Unless I missed something, the rest of the stuff are things you get with Live Gold as well, so no pros or cons there. Either way, if you put $20 on three months of PSN+ and all the games they make available are bad/not your cup of tea, those are $20 down the toilet. When you pay for Live you know it's for something (online multiplayer), regardless of the competition making it free or not. I'm not sure of how much of a success PSN+ will be, I'm sure people will be annoyed that now they might have to wait for demos and such.

Not going to argue about PSN vs. Live.
If I put 20 dollars into PSN I will play my games, get into my betas. Nothing of value was lost. Plus its 6 months for 20 bucks since you are getting 3 months free. I hardly go back and play PSN titles after I'm done with them.
I don't see the harm in trying it.
-
Wow, Sony's conference was really damn good. They didn't just obsess over the Move like I was thinking they might do, they covered all the bases they could. And really, Sorcery looks so neat and fun that it's almost tempting to get a Move to play it. I bet Miyamoto is envious, since the new Zelda isn't even half as creative as Sorcery.
LittleBigPlanet 2 looks phenomenal. It's like the true Lego playset of video games. ^__^ I really want it.
The only thing I dislike about Twisted Metal is its bland grimey visual style. The gameplay itself seems like so much fun, it makes me wonder why shooter games ever got to be so slow and cover-based in the first place.
I like seeing Gabe eat his own words and admit to the PS3 being an open platform to develop for. ^__^ Sweet, sweet justice.
This was such a huge conference that my head is spinning trying to remember it all... =P
-
This is the fucking issue with Move. They did spent too much time on it. Move should have been mentioned, showed some trailers and how you use the controller, moved on. Move is something the journalist will have to play, in person. Not see some jerk off from EA that sucks at Tiger Woods Golf completely make a dick of himself.
Also, 3-D. Means shit. I can't experience what it feels like. Should have saved it for the 'hands on' with press only.
3DS wowed because of its line up of software, not because of its ability to do 3D.
Move and Kinect titles fail to impress compared to Wii. They will not get the boost they want.
-

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that these new motion controllers will succeed, due to their mere price points.
However, I disagree with your assessment that the games failed to impress compared to the Wii's motion controlled games shown off at the Nintendo conference. The new Zelda looks, quite honestly, rather uninspired. I was much more dazzled by Sorcery, a game that I hadn't even heard about before watching this conference.
Will I buy a Move for the game? Probably not, because it's simply too expensive for one game. Even so, I am still more interested in Sorcery than I am Zelda or, uhhh.... Wii Party.
-
Sorcery looked pretty meh. Really. Kirby > all motion games and it does use motion.
-
Kirby uses motion? Why? o_O Why is that even necessary?
Okay, that's a major WTF decision right there.
-
Big reveal was Twisted Metal. LOLWTF. Microsoft and Nintendo had new hardware to show off at least!
The Move games could have been done way better I think. The way they are marketing it, I feel Kinect will be a better deal for multiplayer stuff in the end most likely, but I like how they went back to show some older games using the controller. Pretty cool, I guess.
Little Big Planet 2 focused too much on minigames. I think the reason it was not showing off them making a game was because it would take far too long to, but that is not a worry for me. Gran Turismo 5 for 3DTV is pretty awesome news, no wonder they were holding it back.
PSP and PSN+ stuff was a joke, that is all I will say.
Should have not revealed Killzone 3 a few days before though, would have really blown people away if they used the demo of it in 3D at the end. I think it is the perfect game for 3DTV honestly. Even though I do not like the series at all.
-
The Move might be good, but the presentation lacked a lot.
Twisted Metal was a great announcement. Most of the rest was kinda forgettable.
Marcus is a really annoying kid. But it kinda reminded me of the old Sega commercials, though Sony takes it waaay much too serious.
I also liked GT5's launch date.
Overall it was pretty average. Millions better than Microsoft "the killer of gaming", nothing compared to "Jesus" Nintendo.
-
I liked the Kevin Butler appearance. Especially the line about trophies.
Gabe Newell's appearance really caught me off guard.
Honestly, as far as what they've shown for the fall line up, I'm looking forward to that Sly Cooper collection the most. I've always been curious about giving it a go, and this is a lot easier than tracking down the original games.
I actually got my girlfriend to sit and watch the conference with me. When they rolled the inFamous 2 footage, first thing she says is,"It's a different guy", followed by, "he seems way more likeable now". I hadn't told her about the redesign before, but apparently the new Cole has a bit more appeal than the old one. As long as the game's as solid as the first, I'll be happy.
Sounds like Last Guardian's going to be at TGS instead. I'm just hoping for that Ico collection so I can finally give it a spin.
-
PSN+ in a few weeks. Can't wait to start the 3 month trial.
-
Something that crackdude brought up in a different thread:
MARCUS. Oh man, was I ever offended by those ads. The racial stereotyping was outrageous. x___x It felt like a modern day version of this commercial:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y-cxdruYQc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3y-cxdruYQc)
-
From what I've been reading the 3 months only comes with the 1 year package. So if you are purchasing the 1 year subscription, you will be given 3 extra months for free. Also, PSN+ membership seems to be only available from Sony directly, so discounted Best Buy or Amazon subscription codes may be out. $50 = $50.
I could be wrong on how the trial period works, but I can't seem to find a firm answer. One Sony rep said one thing while another said something else.
-
I just want to know that if I get these free games they talk about, will I keep them forever? Or will they vanish at the end of the month/when my subscription ends?
-
From what I can gather, LBP is a freebie forever while everything else is there as long as you subscribe. End your subscription, lose your games.
-
That sucks. What a useless thing!
-
Yeah, some folks here were arguing about it yesterday. One said it sucks, the other justified it saying "it's a rental, of course you don't keep it!".
My take: they sure as hell better let you keep SOMETHING. Member exclusive discounts on PSN titles would be cool, or exclusive Home items. Hopefully it's not just a glorified limited rental service.
-
But that way it would be much better getting a 50euro card and just spend it on games I can keep forever..
I hope they iron out the system so that there's really some good advantages.. Right now, it seems a bit underwhelming.
-
You get PSN discounts, 50% off items. Even if it is 'pay as you subscribe', it makes sense. Why would they give you 40 dollars worth of software without a catch?
Plus I'm not going to get it, if I do, for the games.
-
The "discounts" are an illusion cause you're already paying 50 bucks a year. If you can "borrow" games it's good. But since they are the one to choose the games...
I don't know really what to think of all this.. Maybe I'll understand once it starts working.
-
I actually going to get it for the beta stuff. Not for that shit. I was thinking of getting Qore for the same crap. I want to play Mafia II, Metal of Honor, and LBP2 betas. Not to mention Killzone 3.
We still get 3 months free. Worth trying at least.
I rather them give out like 1 game a month. Seriously, even if its a mini, its still worth it.
-
These Betas are like demos? Or about half a full game? Cause I'm curious about MOH and LBP.. Will the betas be available to europe?
-
Why would Mafia II have a beta? I thought/hoped that was Single player only?
-
Why would Mafia II have a beta? I thought/hoped that was Single player only?
Actually I think I'm thinking about the the wrong game, isn't it Dead Space II that has multiplayer this time?
Regardless, I wish they had a 'all you can listen to' music service like Pandora in the mix. Apps, like Last.FM won't sell me the service, but it is nice to have.
