Nintendo 3DS confirmed for pretty much the best handheld ever already.
-
Orcarina of Time MEH
Star Fox 64 Fuck ya
Also they are remaking Metal Gear Solid 3 on it and it looks really good.
-
Ocarina of Time is one of the best and most influential games of all time.
RESPECT!
-
I don't like the game. Can be made by God himself, if I don't like it, it won't make me buy a new handheld.
Now MGS and Starfox.....
-
Screw you Marcus and your PSP, Starfox 64 in 3d with enhanced graphics is something that I need to own!
-
Fuck Marcus and his over 500 games. It is all in vain if none of those is Starfox 64.

oh yes.

Have they spoken about the backwards compatibility? Obviously DS games will work, but will it still support GBA games?

Entirely doubt it. They removed the Game Boy Advance slot of the DSi to help get rid of people pirating their games.

That was not the reason.. Ever since the first DS was the only one on the market there were Slot 1 cards that didn't need the GBA slot.
But no, 3DS will not run GBA games, it doesn't have a GBA slot. It will work with every DS games.
Maybe they'll have some download system? That would be nice. Like a Virtual Console of portable games!
-
No, the GBA slot was used for add-ons, like the rumble pak and that thing for Guitar Hero. DSi was the first release of the platform without the second slot.
-
They removed the slot to change the form factor and maybe make the system cheaper to produce. Either way, I think there are homebrew GBA emulators available for DSi granted that you use one of those pirate carts. It will likely be the same for the 3DS, given on how it's easy for hackers to crack Nintendo's security.
-
If you can use DS flashcarts then it is possible you can play GBA games off an emulator if you're into that sort of thing.
-
Nah, I'm still just discovering the GBA library via my faux wood paneled GBA SP, so 3DS is a ways off for me. However, it DOES look like the ultimate DS, so I'm glad I held off on the previous models. I'll probably get into the 3DS once SEGA has more offerings.
GBA = GB, GBC and GBA
3DS = DS, DSi, 3DS
Sounds like a nice combo.
-
I don't think the DSi was as different from the DS as the GBC was from the GB, but nice duality you pointed out Barry..
-
I'm really looking forward to actually seeing the 3D first hand. The concept of 3D without glasses sounds pretty great to me.
That, and Kid Icarus.
