So... it's that? This is the game that Yasuhara was developing for namco? A party game?

 -_-...

Now I think he was a jerk leaving Naughty Dog.

Much like the terms "casual" and "hardcore" I have begun to hate the word "party." Everyone wants to make a party game these days.

As far as party games go it looks like it could be quite fun, and I'm loving the really vibrant colors.
I still would like to see something akin to the Pac-Man World games, but I'm sure this will be a fun game in the meantime.

This game looks so 'childish'.

The AI seems to be very 'retarded'...

I like pac-man, and I'd like to buy a new game from this characther... but Namco should try to improve his games... It seems like they're going to released a 'Pac-Man Fever 2'...

:(

The only Pac Man game I have enjoyed was Pacman CE for XBLA and iPhone.

Pac n roll and Pac-man world 2 are enjoyable as well.

Yeah, I heard Pac-Man was going to get a new design for this year that they are going to keep... I do not really like it.

You know... I sort of don't mind the new character designs at all. And yeah, this game could potentially be fun for us Pac-Man fans.

However... that's the whole problem. There are essentially NO hardcore Pac-Man fans around these days. ^^;;; They're making a game for an audience that practically doesn't exist at all. What the heck are they thinking?

What they should have done is made a new Pac-Man platformer or something along those lines; a game that's fun and unique and puts Pac-Man back on the map. He needed to be relevant again before they made another Mario Party clone.

I agree with you.
Someone must notify Namco about that.
Maybe a 'Pac-Man Galaxy World ' or 'Pac-Man Colors' could be interesting :P

I disagree that there are no 'hardcore' Pac-Man fans around. All of the games still sell, it is just that most people who really like Pac-Man are not really all that into games and just have it on their cell or something. Pac-Man Party is a good way to get the fans that grew up with the game to get something both them and their kids would like.

To be honest, I think this looks like one of the better Mario Party-like games around. I also like how they changed the designs of the ghosts to differentiate them, even if their results were mixed.

Or perhaps, they could try making a game that isn't a complete rip-off of another mascot's game.  :P

They tried that so many times, but it never worked out. You want another game like Pac-Man 2?!?

I would love another Pac-Man World game though. I am not sure why I never got around to the third one...

I think they can still make a good, solid platforming game that doesn't have to rip off Sonic or Mario Galaxy. They need to go for their own stylish angle, sort of like what Kirby is doing right now.

Don't bother with Pac Man World 3. It's not very good.

but it needs to be a 'big budget' game just like those ones. They need to invest capital in a new 'revolutionary pac-man game'.

The impression I had, seeing this 'pac-man party' video is that they're not giving pac-man the same as attention as other 'more important' namco titles.

They did a good job with that Klonoa port, maybe a new pac-man game could use the same engine/gameplay.

Namco is in no position to be making big budget releases of potential flops. The most money they make from the Pac-Man brand are arcade-like releases, like Championship Edition.

With the right marketing program/plan the game may have a successful gross profit.

See 'Mickey' for wii for example.
Mickey's 'Magical Mirror' was a flop in the Gamecube, although, the marketing campaign for 'Epic Mickey' makes it as one of the most antecipated games of the year!
Title: Re: Pac-Man is back and ready for a Party!
Post by: Sega Uranus on June 23, 2010, 08:27:25 pm
Marketing costs money, too. Epic Mickey also has over 200 people working on it and Disney pushing it to the point they want two more sequels and a movie already. Magical Mirror was a flop because no one wanted it, and no one enjoyed it. It was also not even a platformer either.

Post by: fluffymoochicken on June 23, 2010, 09:53:30 pm
Creating a solid and fun platformer for the Wii doesn't have to require a big budget. I think Namco could do Pac Man justice without needing to break the bank.

Also, the reason why Disney might throw more money at Epic Mickey is because they have an invested interest in the character beyond the realm of video games.

I'm sure Namco could come up with a very unique Pac-Man platformer if they tried.

Of course they could. Heck, anyone could if they put their mind into it. They're just taking the lazy way out for now. =P

More mini-games for the Wii, whoo hoo!

Having Pac-Man and Astaroth in a same game was kinda peculiar. ^-^

Indeed. It was a good idea to reunite namco chars. in one game.
Pac-man ghosts are not carismatic characthers IMO...

It looks like the new character designs are also being used in a new 3D television Pac-Man series.

Kinda hurts my eyes without the 3D glasses. O_o

Oh my god... Professor Pac got gene spliced with the professor from the Ape Escape series. x___x

Yeah, this tv show looks about as bad as that Hannah-Barbara one... or worse. @_@ But oh well, not like I'm going to be required to watch it.

I have no idea what network it will be on, but hopefully there will be a standard version of the show as well so those who don't have 3D televisions can still enjoy the show.

It's about what age they wanted him to be for the series I guess.
I wonder if Ms. Pac-Man will join the cast.

I wish I had a Wii, this looks like it would be a fun party game.
