I really hope for the best for MegaPixel/Forever Entertainment. They've been struggling a bit with Sega's games of late, what with criticisms for The House of the Dead II and... well, the first Panzer Dragoon remake was well met.
Still, looking forward to the Power Surge games we've been promised... though I'm starting to think that Sega may have promised the Power Surge a bit too early. That video being in 2023 and now in 2026 we're getting the bulk of it.

Hopefully when they read fans' feedback of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake so they could change it closer into what fans wanted.
The House of the Dead II diddn't have that chance. The game's suddenly released without any demo to play in big game conventions to hear fans' feedback.
Still, looking forward to the Power Surge games we've been promised... though I'm starting to think that Sega may have promised the Power Surge a bit too early. That video being in 2023 and now in 2026 we're getting the bulk of it.
It might be too early but it worked to stop Dreamcast fans who kept spamming SEGA's social media asking for a sequel/remake the game they want.
Well, some at least.
Some Shenmue fans are still spamming SEGA's social media asking for 25th Anniversary thing.

So they were a bit pressed? Couldn't they update the game?
They do update the games. Seven times.
But I guess it's still not enough.
I thought Takashi Iizuka telling us that they won't be remaking Sonic Adventure or Dreamcast games was what made Dreamcast fans shut up?
Takashi Iizuka is representing Sonic Team, not SEGA.
So when he said Dreamcast games, it would mean Sonic games in Dreamcast.
Steam releasing their brand new Steam Frame in the next few months and Nintendo's idea for VR is still the Virtual Boy.

They kinda live in their own buble. But since Nintendo fans have been requesting this since 3DS era though I'm sure it still gonna sell.

If the Virtual Boy revival is Nintendo's attempt at the VR market, do the new Virtual Boy games have to be red, though? It's not 1995 any more.
Or, release the "Virtual Boy 2" as a brand-new VR headset. Even if its about as decent as a 2010-15 VR headset and making it an accessory/require the Switch 2 to play, they would still market it like gold.
Or the very least, they could release a headset mount for the Switch 2... or the Switch Lite if they want to be more merciful on the players neck muscles.

The thing about Remake is it's hard to please everyone, too many different opinions.

Two 1990s SEGA CD Game are returning next year. One of these two games, the older game of the pair, is Prize Fighter from Digital Pictures and Sega itself.
This was a Sega CD exclusive released in 1993.
The other game is also from Digital Pictures, though not Sega, and that is Slam City With Scottie Pippen, a 1994 release for Sega CD, Sega 32X, and MS-DOS.
Slam City with Scottie Pippen is a historic game as the first FMV basketball game. In the game, players face off against various opponents, including Scottie Pippen, in one-on-one basketball. It’s a simple premise and a ...

Ecco the Dolphin creator Ed Annunziata has revealed that remasters of the first two Ecco the Dolphin games as well as a third game are in the works.
When asked about the future of the series, Annunziata said “Me and the entire original team are going to Remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games. Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities.”
Annunziata then asked fans to stay tuned to eccothedolphin.com which has a ...

The thing about Remake is it's hard to please everyone, too many different opinions.
I guess so. I just hope we'll get more THotD remakes and that Forever Entertainment won't quit after how poorly recieved THotD2 was.
It's not Nintendo's attempt at the VR market.
It's just an emulator peripheral to play old games, kinda like SEGA Mega Drive Mini.

I'm guessing after that Nintendo isn't interested in the VR market anymore since those games didn't sell well.
While making use of the Switch for VR is, in a way, clever, I feel the reason why Nintendo failed in the VR market was how lazy they were. For Nintendo's case, I believe they can get away with being somewhat lazy, Nintendo never made gaming consoles on par with PlayStation or XBox but thrived on innovative designs and fun games. But in this case, it was poorly executed.
For example, that LABO Toy-Con 04 VR needed the Joycons fixed into the headset in order for the VR experience to have head-track. This is because the Switch itself does not have the sensors that the Joycons have. Using the Joycons themselves for head-motion tracking in a way clever, but also makes VR gaming very limited for both the player and Nintendo.
Meanwhile, the Joycons themselves would be absolutely ideal as VR controllers because they are for both separate hands and motion sensors which the game can pick up.
To me, it looks like Nintendo wanted to give the VR market a try as cheaply as possible, but didn't execute it that well.
Solutions:
- LABO VR games that require two sets of JoyCons, one for the headset, the other for the hands. While Nintendo encourages friends and multiplayer gaming, I dunno how players would feel being obligated to spend money for a second set of JoyCons for VR gaming.
- The "Virtual Boy 2" could simply be a headset with Joycon motion sensors built in. The Switch could still slide into it, but with the Joycons freed up, will allow for the Joycons to be user as VR controllers.
- The Virtual Boy 2 could be sold as an independent console. It doesn't have to have a Switch Lite built into it, but Nintendo could still probably make tiny monitors of decent resolutions and lens for optimal quality and comfort. It wouldn't need high resolution displays or focal distances or any fancy stuff modern VR headsets have. It would come with a standard pair of Joycons and may still have access to the player's Switch to allow non-VR gaming on a VR screen.
I imagine option 2 would be more up Nintendo's ally, especially given they already made VR games for Switch screens than the need to recalibrate them for two smaller eye-screens. It wouldn't be just a hunk of plastic with a head-strap, it would have the same motion controls the Joycons have built into it and would simply require the Switch to slide into it, freeing the Joycons for hand controls.
-
While making use of the Switch for VR is, in a way, clever, I feel the reason why Nintendo failed in the VR market was how lazy they were.

Those all will be good ideas (especially number 2 since I don't think Nintendo want another console) if Nintendo are really interested in VR market, but they are not now.
Nintendo always think Nintendo Switch as a social system first and foremost, while VR is by its nature isolating and insular.
Sure it could be a social system with the right online games but as for now Nintendo doesn't see it that way.
Even those Virtual Boy things just feel like a marketing in order for gamers to still subscribe Nintendo Switch Online Memberships.

Still, though, Virtual Reality is a struggling market in the gaming industry. It's like not many video game studios know what to do with it, all the while there are games such as the Thief series, Gothic, Arx Fatalis (and maybe Dark Messiah as well), Zeno Clash series, first-person shooter games with creative use of interactive environments... and studios are still keeping away from VR gaming because they don't know what to do with it.
I'm supportive of it because I enjoy the immersive+escapism it provides.

In the console and PC, they might still be niche market right now.
But in arcade, it's really growing as a form of riding entertainment which caught attention more than the others.
Last week I accompanied my sons trying this new VR Space Ride in our local arcade center.

You can watch the video here (https://x.com/bertodecosta/status/1993193269019435405/video/2).
Also while not using VR glasses, Wild Wing Simulator by SEGA on Tokyo Joypolis is also popular.

There are also other series of course: Wild Junge, Wild River, etc.
And in this year, SEGA Amusement recently has published "Ubisoft All-star VR" for arcade.
And yes, this one uses VR glasses.

If this turned out to be popular, who knows SEGA of Japan could let SEGA Amusement publish "SEGA All-star VR" later.

That looks fun, and I imagine more cheaper than Dark Rides.
If I worked for Joypolis, or at least a Sega theme park and if I could design a ride, I would make a "virtual reality roller coaster (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_reality_roller_coaster)", it would be an inverted roller coaster and the headsets would display a virtual version of Geen Hill Zone while riders get to keep up with Sonic!

That's a good idea though still not sure whether Joypolis visitors prefer a realistic one or cartoonic/game-like one in term of VR riding.
Here's the realistic one is more popular than the later (except the Rabbids one, it's still kinda popular with kids).
Sure sometimes its theme is space journey but it's still kinda looking realistic.

I was thinking the virtual simulation could re-use assets from Green Hill from Sonic Generations. And it doesn't matter if the roller coaster is indoors or built over bland scenery, given riders will be wearing VR goggles.
I think a Sonic VR roller coaster would be the most realistic experience of running with Sonic ever.

I don't they can't re-use it.
The resolution for these riding amusements are very very big.
It's as big as those movies shown in cinemas.

All in all, a realistic experience in running through Green Hill Zone with Sonic, with the roller-coaster giving the sense of motion as well.

If Paramount Parks is interested, may be SEGA could work that with them.

It would be nice if Sega took a look at Super Nintendo World and wanted what they were having. Though while the Mushroom Kingdom aesthetic was adaptable, I dunno if Green Hill can be done the same.
Though, I sometimes look at the abandoned Camelot Theme Park (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot_Theme_Park) and imagine what it would be like if it was brought by Sega and done up into a Sega Land or Joypolis UK. The old castle could be remade into an arcade, the abandoned Knightmare remade/replaced into the VR Sonic ride, the nearby woodland where Curien Mansion can be built and where Halloween events are hosted, the nearby Hotel brought out and made into a NiGHTS hotel, etc.
Of course, the remnants of the theme park was eventually demolished and is now Scare City (https://scarecity.co.uk/) attraction.

That's depended of the investors.
Nintendo was a giant company in Japan so it's no wonder there are many investors interested in making Super Nintendo World project to become reality.
Unfortunately SEGA wasn't as big as Nintendo in Japan, they couldn't even keep their arcade centres.

It su-u-ucks!
But, at least Sega still has Joypolis, their theme park/arcade capital.

But, it's times like this I wish Sega World UK was still a thing. My inner child is still upset it never got to go.

Well, we never got any Sega World Indonesia here so there's nothing that I miss.
Not really though.
I do miss arcade centers which's full of SEGA arcade games like Space Harriers, Virtua Fighter, Hang-On, and Daytona USA.
