I really hope for the best for MegaPixel/Forever Entertainment. They've been struggling a bit with Sega's games of late, what with criticisms for The House of the Dead II and... well, the first Panzer Dragoon remake was well met.
Still, looking forward to the Power Surge games we've been promised... though I'm starting to think that Sega may have promised the Power Surge a bit too early. That video being in 2023 and now in 2026 we're getting the bulk of it.

Hopefully when they read fans' feedback of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake so they could change it closer into what fans wanted.
The House of the Dead II diddn't have that chance. The game's suddenly released without any demo to play in big game conventions to hear fans' feedback.
Still, looking forward to the Power Surge games we've been promised... though I'm starting to think that Sega may have promised the Power Surge a bit too early. That video being in 2023 and now in 2026 we're getting the bulk of it.
It might be too early but it worked to stop Dreamcast fans who kept spamming SEGA's social media asking for a sequel/remake the game they want.
Well, some at least.
Some Shenmue fans are still spamming SEGA's social media asking for 25th Anniversary thing.

So they were a bit pressed? Couldn't they update the game?
They do update the games. Seven times.
But I guess it's still not enough.
I thought Takashi Iizuka telling us that they won't be remaking Sonic Adventure or Dreamcast games was what made Dreamcast fans shut up?
Takashi Iizuka is representing Sonic Team, not SEGA.
So when he said Dreamcast games, it would mean Sonic games in Dreamcast.
Steam releasing their brand new Steam Frame in the next few months and Nintendo's idea for VR is still the Virtual Boy.

They kinda live in their own buble. But since Nintendo fans have been requesting this since 3DS era though I'm sure it still gonna sell.

So when he said Dreamcast games, it would mean Sonic games in Dreamcast.
I'm still a bitheartbroken about it.
They kinda live in their own buble. But since Nintendo fans have been requesting this since 3DS era though I'm sure it still gonna sell.

If the Virtual Boy revival is Nintendo's attempt at the VR market, do the new Virtual Boy games have to be red, though? It's not 1995 any more.
Or, release the "Virtual Boy 2" as a brand-new VR headset. Even if its about as decent as a 2010-15 VR headset and making it an accessory/require the Switch 2 to play, they would still market it like gold.
Or the very least, they could release a headset mount for the Switch 2... or the Switch Lite if they want to be more merciful on the players neck muscles.

It's just an emulator peripheral to play old games, kinda like SEGA Mega Drive Mini.

Two 1990s SEGA CD Game are returning next year. One of these two games, the older game of the pair, is Prize Fighter from Digital Pictures and Sega itself.

Ecco the Dolphin creator Ed Annunziata has revealed that remasters of the first two Ecco the Dolphin games as well as a third game are in the works.
When asked about the future of the series, Annunziata said “Me and the entire original team are going to Remaster the original Ecco the Dolphin and Tides of Time games. Then we will make a new, third game with contemporary play and GPU sensibilities.”
Annunziata then asked fans to stay tuned to eccothedolphin.com which has a ...

I'm guessing after that Nintendo isn't interested in the VR market anymore since those games didn't sell well.
While making use of the Switch for VR is, in a way, clever, I feel the reason why Nintendo failed in the VR market was how lazy they were. For Nintendo's case, I believe they can get away with being somewhat lazy, Nintendo never made gaming consoles on par with PlayStation or XBox but thrived on innovative designs and fun games. But in this case, it was poorly executed.
For example, that LABO Toy-Con 04 VR needed the Joycons fixed into the headset in order for the VR experience to have head-track. This is because the Switch itself does not have the sensors that the Joycons have. Using the Joycons themselves for head-motion tracking in a way clever, but also makes VR gaming very limited for both the player and Nintendo.
Meanwhile, the Joycons themselves would be absolutely ideal as VR controllers because they are for both separate hands and motion sensors which the game can pick up.
To me, it looks like Nintendo wanted to give the VR market a try as cheaply as possible, but didn't execute it that well.
Solutions:
- LABO VR games that require two sets of JoyCons, one for the headset, the other for the hands. While Nintendo encourages friends and multiplayer gaming, I dunno how players would feel being obligated to spend money for a second set of JoyCons for VR gaming.
- The "Virtual Boy 2" could simply be a headset with Joycon motion sensors built in. The Switch could still slide into it, but with the Joycons freed up, will allow for the Joycons to be user as VR controllers.
- The Virtual Boy 2 could be sold as an independent console. It doesn't have to have a Switch Lite built into it, but Nintendo could still probably make tiny monitors of decent resolutions and lens for optimal quality and comfort. It wouldn't need high resolution displays or focal distances or any fancy stuff modern VR headsets have. It would come with a standard pair of Joycons and may still have access to the player's Switch to allow non-VR gaming on a VR screen.
I imagine option 2 would be more up Nintendo's ally, especially given they already made VR games for Switch screens than the need to recalibrate them for two smaller eye-screens. It wouldn't be just a hunk of plastic with a head-strap, it would have the same motion controls the Joycons have built into it and would simply require the Switch to slide into it, freeing the Joycons for hand controls.

Those all will be good ideas (especially number 2 since I don't think Nintendo want another console) if Nintendo are really interested in VR market, but they are not now.
Nintendo always think Nintendo Switch as a social system first and foremost, while VR is by its nature isolating and insular.
Sure it could be a social system with the right online games but as for now Nintendo doesn't see it that way.
Even those Virtual Boy things just feel like a marketing in order for gamers to still subscribe Nintendo Switch Online Memberships.

Still, though, Virtual Reality is a struggling market in the gaming industry. It's like not many video game studios know what to do with it, all the while there are games such as the Thief series, Gothic, Arx Fatalis (and maybe Dark Messiah as well), Zeno Clash series, first-person shooter games with creative use of interactive environments... and studios are still keeping away from VR gaming because they don't know what to do with it.
I'm supportive of it because I enjoy the immersive+escapism it provides.

In the console and PC, they might still be niche market right now.
But in arcade, it's really growing as a form of riding entertainment which caught attention more than the others.
Last week I accompanied my sons trying this new VR Space Ride in our local arcade center.

That looks fun, and I imagine more cheaper than Dark Rides.
If I worked for Joypolis, or at least a Sega theme park and if I could design a ride, I would make a "virtual reality roller coaster (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_reality_roller_coaster)", it would be an inverted roller coaster and the headsets would display a virtual version of Geen Hill Zone while riders get to keep up with Sonic!

That's a good idea though still not sure whether Joypolis visitors prefer a realistic one or cartoonic/game-like one in term of VR riding.
Here's the realistic one is more popular than the later (except the Rabbids one, it's still kinda popular with kids).
Sure sometimes its theme is space journey but it's still kinda looking realistic.

I was thinking the virtual simulation could re-use assets from Green Hill from Sonic Generations. And it doesn't matter if the roller coaster is indoors or built over bland scenery, given riders will be wearing VR goggles.
I think a Sonic VR roller coaster would be the most realistic experience of running with Sonic ever.

The resolution for these riding amusements are very very big.
It's as big as those movies shown in cinemas.

All in all, a realistic experience in running through Green Hill Zone with Sonic, with the roller-coaster giving the sense of motion as well.

It would be nice if Sega took a look at Super Nintendo World and wanted what they were having. Though while the Mushroom Kingdom aesthetic was adaptable, I dunno if Green Hill can be done the same.
Though, I sometimes look at the abandoned Camelot Theme Park (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot_Theme_Park) and imagine what it would be like if it was brought by Sega and done up into a Sega Land or Joypolis UK. The old castle could be remade into an arcade, the abandoned Knightmare remade/replaced into the VR Sonic ride, the nearby woodland where Curien Mansion can be built and where Halloween events are hosted, the nearby Hotel brought out and made into a NiGHTS hotel, etc.
Of course, the remnants of the theme park was eventually demolished and is now Scare City (https://scarecity.co.uk/) attraction.

That's depended of the investors.
Nintendo was a giant company in Japan so it's no wonder there are many investors interested in making Super Nintendo World project to become reality.
Unfortunately SEGA wasn't as big as Nintendo in Japan, they couldn't even keep their arcade centres.

It su-u-ucks!
But, at least Sega still has Joypolis, their theme park/arcade capital.

Well, Sonic has pop-up cafe too sometimes but usually it's in western.
In Japan, Puyo Puyo or Yakuza pop-up cafe was more frequent than Sonic one.
Also there used to be a Final Fantasy XR ride in Japan but not anymore.

Well, Sonic has pop-up cafe too sometimes but usually it's in western.
In Japan, Puyo Puyo or Yakuza pop-up cafe was more frequent than Sonic one.
Also there used to be a Final Fantasy XR ride in Japan but not anymore.

Get ready to tee off with Putt It! Par-Tee, the exciting new skill-based redemption game from SEGA Amusements that combines the thrill of mini golf with the classic fun of an alley roller. This fast-paced game features a vibrant, cartoon-style cabinet, dynamic lighting, and an interactive playfield that puts players right at the heart of the golf action.
Up to six players can join the fun by linking three two-player cabinets, turning every round into a social, competitive mini-golf showdown. Players are paired with one of six quirky characters – Zorq the Alien, Hazel the Witch, Captain Mulligan, Dimples the Clown, Unit 32 the Robot, and Dr. Eagle – and race to score big as their characters progress across themed levels on-screen.
Presented in a quirky, golf-themed cabinet, Putt It Par-Tee features an individual player display so everyone can track their character’s progress. Spectators can also join the fun using the top-mounted billboard display, which shows all the action and keeps the crowd cheering.
Using a golf club, players putt balls into seven scoring holes before time runs out. Sink a shot, and another ball is automatically dispensed. In the final ten seconds, the Double Points Final Shot kicks in for an all-or-nothing finish. Score big, win tickets, and have a Par-Tee!

Let's GO-O-O-O!!! Is there any SEGA game that you wait most this year?
Right now, I'm more interested in what to play games with.- Steam Controller (https://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamcontroller), which has more buttons than I know what to do with, but imagine Crossworld while using the entire controller as a steering wheel!
- Steam Frame (https://store.steampowered.com/sale/steamframe), been wanting to get back into VR gaming for a while. Given most of my gaming is on Steam, I'd say it was worth waiting for their new VR headset over buying whatever current in the VR market. Also, fuck Meta!
- Dreamcast Pro Controller (if any (https://retro-bit.com/controllers/dreamcast/)), pity Retro-Bit didn't release their Dreamcast controllers by Christmas marketing. Still waiting to see how that goes. More on my thoughts about it here (https://segabits.com/forums/index.php?topic=4554.msg144373#msg144373).
Given my interest are mostly Sonic-orientated, other than mobile and comic content, as yet Sega hasn't announced anything brand-new for Sonic in 2026. I'm hoping for either a game announcement, or Paramount will release something to tide us over for Sonic 4.
I'm also keeping an eye on the movie thread (https://segabits.com/forums/index.php?topic=4617.0), for any news on Streets of Rage, The House of the Dead or other Sega films in the works.

PC gaming related I see.
I'm more interested in Steam Machine than Steam Controller and Steam Frame, but the price are probably beyond way way more than my wallet could provide.
Still have my Steam Deck but now it's already struggling just to play Street Fighter VI online so I guess it's shown its age already.
For Sonic movies related, the Sonic Universe spin-off film is targeting a December 22, 2028 release so I guess it's still nothing for 2026. Meanwhile for Sonic games, Sonic Blitz will probably be released this year. But since it's a mobile game, I doubt you have any interest in it.

I don't need a Steam Machine given my computer is just as powerful as it is. I don't really need a Steam Deck either given I'm not one to go out and about with gaming.
Though, now that I think about it, I wonder if there is Steam Deck exclusive games? Such as games that use satnav like Pokémon Go! does?

Nah, I'm still kind of disappointed it's not a real-life card game. If it was, I'd be more interested.
But then again, given I doubt they would be sold locally where I live, scalpers would get to it, like they did with those Sonic M:tG cards.
But I often fantasize what a Sonic the Hedgehog or Sega All-Stars trading card game would be like. I think I would prefer Sega All-Stars because there would be much more content to work with.

Sadly no. Steam Deck is basically what it is ... playing games on handheld mode.
No exclusive games ever made for it.
Also there are many games on Steam didn't work on the Steam Deck too, usually old games.
We got to check the "Deck Verified'logo to ensure it would run great on Steam Deck, otherwise no guarantee.

Well, if Sonic Blitz is a success, they could make SEGA All-Star Blitz or SEGA Heroes Blitz later.

Well, these days it's all mobile phones. Though would be interested if the Steam Deck was exclusive for a satnav game.

Didn't you once told me the reason why Sega has abanoned the Sega All-Star series is because they lost confidence putting Sega brand on such games?
That and even Sega struggled getting licencing for each and every character... that they supposidly own.

That would be fun but too bad Steam Deck/NDS/3DS lacks built-in GPS hardware that's needed for satnav games.
They rely on Wi-Fi/Bluetooth for location data or requires an external USB/Bluetooth/peripheral GPS receiver for precise positioning,

Yeah, you're right.
They could but they wouldn't.
Best they would do is more Sonic games with guests from all other franchises
(just like Rumble and CrossWorlds).

2025’s 49th digital issue of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine confirmed that SEGA and NextNinja are working on a new Gintama mobile game. The new Gintama mobile game is described as a “chibi character battle,” and more details are coming soon.
Hideki Sorachi’s popular Gintama series began with the manga in 2004 and ran all the way until June 2021. The Gintama Yoshiwara in Flames arc premiered in 2009 and ran for eight episodes. The original Gintama anime series is ...

That would be fun but too bad Steam Deck/NDS/3DS lacks built-in GPS hardware that's needed for satnav games.
They rely on Wi-Fi/Bluetooth for location data or requires an external USB/Bluetooth/peripheral GPS receiver for precise positioning,
What about peripherals?
If it was still the NDS heyday, Nintendo could've made a GPS to fit in the GBA port, or make a GPS peripheral for the Switch, given the console was designed as both a home and portable console. But I guess Nintendo decided for it to be a mobile game, which is weird to see Nintendo make games for devices outside their own.
I mean, I get it, it's the easier option and everyone has a phone these days. But Pokémon Go! On Wii U or Switch at the time would've been possible if they were willing to make peripherals for it.
As for the Steam Deck, it does not have a GPS feature, but it can use external USB/Bluetooth GPS receivers. So it's somewhat possible.Yeah, you're right.
They could but they wouldn't.
Best they would do is more Sonic games with guests from all other franchises
(just like Rumble and CrossWorlds).
I don't know how Nintendo does it with their Smash Bros. fighters, but perhaps Sega should uh... if they can't get the licencing or rights for their own All-Star characters, then perhaps Sega should have a contract agreement over characters they can use and to what extent, than to save the trouble of getting the licencing each time.
I dunno, I mean, Sakurai makes it look easy with Nintendo and other characters showing up in Smash Bros. games, yet Sega seem to struggle with All-Star games. I expected Sega have secured rights to their own characters just as Nintendo had for theirs. If not, then perhaps Sega should come up with an agreement of permitted use of characters and the extent of them.
For example, allow to use The House of the Dead characters, but not allowed to use "The House of the Dead" name, thus "Curien Mansion" being the alternative... which I know isn't the case, Sega All-Stars Racing games called it that for censorship reasons, but you get my point.
Or only characters from Loving Dead and Zombie Revenge are allowed, but no other game, or "cartoon" versions of G and Rogan count as seperate characters exclusive to sega All-Stars, etc.
And of course, allow for give-and-take. Yu Suzuki will allow Sega to have Ryo Hazuki and set characters appear and represented in Sega All-Stars games and in return Yu Suzuki can have Sega characters in Shenmue III or IV.
I would like to see more Sega All-Stars games. Whenever it be sports, hobbies, actual card game or "Sega Superstars VR" which i go on about. but if Sega have to ask permission for their own characters while Nintendo can do nelly with theirs, then perhaps Sega should come organize something benefitial for themselves and IPs.

There is Ranger NDS GPS System that's connected to the Slot-2 (GBA cartridge slot) which converted the DS or DS Lite into a full-featured GPS navigator.
But sadly it's not compatible with the DSi, 3DS, or New 3DS models because those later models removed the Slot-2 so people kinda forget that when they moved into the newer models.

It's possible I guess but Valve has no interest in doing it.
Also Steam Deck is so big. Unlike NDS Lite, 3DS, or smartphone, it wasn't comfortable to bring around for walk outside.
If I could choose between smartphone or Steam Deck to play satnav games, I'd still pick my smartphone.

It wasn't easy at first.
Even for every character he's succeed to get, he said there are a lot of high hurdles to their inclusion and many guidelines to follow.
Sakurai makes it look easy with Nintendo right now of course after its first success.
And there's no SEGA All-Star titles that could follow Smash Bros success.
Even PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale failed .... and Playstation was bigger than SEGA.

Well, it would've been interesting to see Pokémon Go! on NDS, if they had done it. Maybe Nintendo will release a "Ranger 2" sometime, especially if they ever plan on making a sequel to Pokémon Go! for their consoles over mobile phones.

I dunno how big the Steam Deck is, nor the Switch 2 for that matter. Given the Switch was marketed as both a home console and as a portable console, makes me wonder why Nintendo haven't made a Pokémon Go! sequel/spin-off for it. Especially given that the original Pokémon Go! mostly concentrated on catching over battling and Pokémon Go! is sort of out of trend that a sequel could revive it.
If I made a Pokémon Go! sequel, it would have the following:- It be for the Switch 2, though mobile variant may still exist.
- Given Pokémon regions are based after countries, perhaps Pokémon can only be found in certain countries? Such as Galar pokémon in UK or Kalos pokémon found in France, etc.
- The Switch 2 version can have battle feature.
Still, I'd rather work on a new Chao Adventure game than Pokémon where these ideas can be poured into.It wasn't easy at first.

Then if Sega can't freely use their characters as Nintendo can, would some sort of "permitted use" contract be possible to allow Sega to use their characters with less legal hurdles?
For example, given Sega All-Star Racing games use characters from Loving Dead, wouldn't "cartoon versions" of The House of the Dead characters and monsters be regarded more original characters, if they were designed specifically for Sega All-Stars take on THotD?
Same goes for Virtua Fighter. If the Virtua Fighter series will be adopting the new realistic style and probably rebooted continuity of the New VF Project, the "Sega All-Stars contract" could keep the classic fighters, but perhaps how they appeared in Virtua Quest.
As for other franchises like Jet Set Radio, Skies of Arcadia, Space Channel 5, characters which already have stylized designs, depends on what's decided on.
Again, I don't know what "arrangements" Sega have with their IP characters, but Nintendo seem to have better arrangements with theirs.

Only if they could think a way that's more convenient than playing it in smartphones.

I think Pokémon Go situation is like Minecraft situation.
Fans doesn't want Micecraft 2, they're already happy with the game as long as it's always updated periodically.
Pokémon Go's a live-service mobile game that still continuously evolves with updates, fans doesn't want any sequel ... for now.
Like Mojang and Microsoft, Nintendo and Niantic probably want to keep the massive, unified player base together, avoid fracturing the community, and continue growing the existing game with constant updates, rather than starting over.

You're right, Nintendo does have better arrangements with theirs.
Back then SEGA loved to add superstars and athletes to Mega Drive/Genesis games primarily as a strategic marketing decision to compete directly with Nintendo.
This build an instantly recognizable game library, and appeal to a broader, more mature North American audience.

It then continued to another area such as working with well known musician/artist for soundtrack (Sonic 3, NiGHTS into Dreams, Crazy Taxi, etc) and well known game maker that want to half-retain the characters they made.

It worked at that time but of course the problem will show up years later.
Many of these games couldn't be remade / re-released without checking its legal condition and negotiating those took too much time.
Pretty sure Nintendo didn't have to deal with this kind of problem.

Isn't the Switch 2 designed as a portable console though? Granted doesn't look like it can fit in ones pocket, but perhaps a man purse or something.

I never played Pokémon Go because my phone is kind of crap, which is why I would propose alternate means of playing it. But isn't Pokémon Go still not like regular Pokémon games? As in, you don't fight pokémon until they're weak and capture them, you just... throw pokéballs at them until they're eventually caught. I don't know if the game has proper Pokémon Battles, or if they expect you to transfer the pokémon to the Nintendo games for legit battles or something.

Yes, portable in the sense of to be easily carried or moved, without needing a television to play it.
Virtual boy's also portable system, but no one could put it in their pocket.

If Nintendo wanted to make a more "real life" Pokémon game, but if a mobile device is too small to fit it on, they could "probably" turn the Switch 2 into a GPS for a Pokémon Go sequel or new version.
Adding a GPS functionality would make the console a lot more pricey.
Do you know what portable console that have it before?
Yep, it's PlayStation Vita.
The GPS function made it too expensive at launch so they remove it in their next model to lower the price.

The question is whether it's worth or not for them.
It's not worth if the franchise doesn't have massive fanbase who's willing to throw money for its merchs or doesn't make partners being interest in licensing them.
They'd rather focus on the franchises that's already sucessful.

I'd say it be worth it in the long run. Guest racers are pretty much what's keeping Sonic Racing: CrossWorld more relevant than Mario Kart World. There's also guest characters in Sonic Rumble such as Opa-Opa, Bonanza Bros and Altered Beast forms.
Meanwhile at Nintendo’s, fans are still begging for a Smash Bros sequel, despite ultimate intended to be the last. But it's not like Nintendo "can't" make another Smash Bros game if they want to. Meanwhile, Mario Kart 8 had Zelda, Animal Crossing and Splatoon characters as DLCs.
Even if Sega doesn't want to make any more Sega All-Stars games, they should be able to flex their own characters just as easy as Nintendo can.
-
Virtual Boy doesn't look portable at all!
Yeah,but the definition's fit.
You don't need a separate television/monitor to play it.
But a GPS peripheral could still be sold separately, right?
It's not in PS Vita's case. Sony abandoned it quickly.

In theory they should be. Sony too with their PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Just because fans are louder in social media wanting this and that, doesn't mean they would buy it when it's released.

No, but unlike most VR headset, it isn't very mobile.

I guess it depended what they had in mind with the Vita.
All in all, mobile phones are GPS devices, so it makes sense why they're usually the choice for GPS games. Nintendo could've made a GPS device for Wii U or Switch etc and keep Pokemon Go in their console family, but making Pokemon Go for mobiles was likely just the easier and cheaper choice.
In theory they should be. Sony too with their PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

I think the reason why Sony (and Microsoft) has a more difficult time than Sega and Nintendo when it comes to such crossover games is because Sony are not really a video game company. Sony (and Microsoft) are not video game companies. Sony is more for the entertainment industry in general and Microsoft are computer and technology company.
When you think Sega, you think of Sonic the Hedgehog.
When you think Nintendo, you think of Super Mario.
But... Sony, or the very least PlayStation, they don't have a definitive "mascot". I think some would say Astro Bot is PlayStation's mascot, but Astro Bot debut was on the PlayStation 5 while Sonic and Mario has been around for decades. In fact, I would say Final Fantasy was more of PlayStations flagship franchise, and Sony doesn't own SquareEnix. PlayStation doesn't have a mascot, champion or face to represent itself to the public, only its four button symbols.
And that's why I think PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale didn't do so well. Because most likely regarded it as a general crossover game with little rhyme or reason why these characters relate, then players seeing the PlayStation All-Stars as all that representable to PlayStation.
Some regard the HALO series as the XBox signature franchise, with Chief possibly being the mascot. But again, not like Chief represents Microsoft and their computers.

It's not that Sony don't have a mascot.
Sony's original Japan, Toro Inoue, was really loved in Japan.
He was most prominently featured in the game's marketing in Japan, like SEGATA Sanshiro for SEGA Saturn.
But their western office didn't like it since Toro was ... too polite?
They want more edgy character as their mascot.
That's why they changed into Polygon Man at first.
And then when it didn't work they changed it to Crash Bandicoot.
And when they lose their ownership of Crash they tried with other characters but none's working until Astro Bot recently.
Meanwhile in Japan, they still love Toro (and later his friend Kuro too of course).
They don't like edgy characters.
Even SEGA tried to make Sonic cute with Sonic & Friend franchise for Japan's audience.
Microsoft too. They're gonna more succesful if they use Steve and Alex as mascots in Japan rather than Chief.
Cuter characters sell more in Japan. All Stars thing filled with serious characters didn't interest them.

(Would appreciate it if you use images other than imgur, given they're blocked in my country... I really should invest in a VPN sometime.)
*Googles Polygon Man* Well, he is certainly "edgy". Though never heard of him.
Yeah, I noticed most associate Crash Bandicoot with PlayStation, but whenever he was PlayStation mascot, i dunno. As you said Sony lost the rights to him.
I guess some companies cater mascots for different country-audience. But still, it would be nice if some mascots were shared internationally. Segata Sanshiro for example.

This is just marketing pheripheral to get people interested for Nintendo Online Service for Switch.
It's not full console since it couldn't stand alone and needing Switch console to run.

Okay but not just Twitter image, now IMGUR too?
Damn man, what's happened to your country, lol.

Mario is both loved by Japan and western.

It does stand alone though, comes with a stand.
I kid.

Damn man, what's happened to your country, lol.
I dunno anymore. I'm hoping these laws will get repealed once Keir Starmer goes, but whenever the next Prime Minister is any better, they'll likely just sit on those old laws.
UK citizens can't even browse porn any more unless they provide proof of ID. Granted this was because for well-being of children, but why should the whole country have to put up with child-laws over bad parenting?

Hey, that's how it feel to be in our country.
We can't browse porn because government banned them since ... 1962 I think.

So I browse X yesterday when I found someone shared a pic from Playstation of Japan (https://x.com/Genki_JPN/status/2011056872548417879).

Toro Inoue, Astro Bot, and Ape Escape Monkey ... they are all now the mascots for PlayStation in Japan.

I didn't know Ape Escape was one of Sony's mascots. I know their games were just as popular in the West as they were in Japan.

Oh give it a time.
They'll also be blocked soon.
Our government's already blocking GROK, Reddit, Vimeo, and 4-chan due to pornography concern.

I was gonna say why not using Kratos since Kratos has more games than Ape Escape, then I remember Toro and Astrobot's having less games than them.
So I guess those three are picked because of their cuteness.
May be the reason Puyo Puyo is more popular than Sonic in Japan because they're having a cuter design.

It feels less like an "Online Safety Act" and more like an Online Surveillance Act. It should be the parents that monitor children's activity on the internet, not the government. In the government doing so, it's not just taking a responsibility from the parent but their right to do so. And for what? To ensure identification is provided online under the assurance it's "secured"?
Meanwhile, what do the OSA do about predators on Discord, Roblox, Fallout or other games marketed for children? Or underground child trafficking? If anything, these laws would encourage more people to find means to skirt these laws for illicit content, which further blurs the line between genuine criminals and people who become outlaws because of too many laws.
At what point did Prime Ministers or UK government looked over at countries with strict monitoring laws, or at least read the book or seen the film "1984" and thought "Hey, that looks like a good idea!"

I think the reason why Kratos wasn't chosen as PlayStation's mascot is because... well, who do you find approachable?
This guy?
A confident cartoon hedgehog and his quirky kid sidekick! He looks fun and exciting. And look at the idelic paradice he is running through. How pretty.
Or what about this guy?
A chubby fellow. He seems friendly and approachable. Sort of like a fun uncle-like figure. He too comes from a colourful world full of interesting characters.
Then you have this guy...

Would you feel comfortable approaching him? I mean, he has a son now, so he must be good with kids... right?

Wow. It's like a beginning of a paranoid government.
Hope it doesn't end up like China.
First online surveillance everywhere, and then suddenly the country has a Social Credit System (SCS) that scores individuals and businesses based on their trustworthiness.

Not if we use that picture.
But if we use these, he looks like a fun dad and approachable enough.
