Probably just a Sonic City Blognik redesign.

Or maybe the long awaited return of Sonic City website. Though I doubt it.

It's "franchise-changing". I really doubt it's a website redesign.

Well, AAUK did say this (http://http://www.sonicstadium.org/news/sonic-colours-and-franchise-changing-news-coming-this-week):

"I did say “franchise changing” kind of all overdramatically – Its not THAT big, though it does alter some things… you’ll just have to see what I mean. Incidentally those who’ve so far guessed are all wrong. “Sonic 4 is delayed” peeps included."

So whatever it is... It's not something mindblowing...

Wha....

What's with this guy? He says "franchise-changing" one moment, then all of a sudden, he says "oh it's not that big a deal".

AAUK is actually a girl, that's why we don't get these mixed signals.

Lol, I know what it is.

It's something that people have been asking for... but in doing it they could make it worse if they don't do it right.

Do you personally like the changes, Ryan?

Maybe it IS classic Sonic.
Title: Re: Big "Franchise-changing" news about Sonic this Thursday.
Post by: Sharky on July 12, 2010, 09:58:30 am
It isnt classic Sonic... and I can't say because I know what there changing but I don't know what they are changing it too.

And I wouldn't call it 'franchise-changing' it isnt going to change much at all. It isnt huge although I'm sure some Sonic fans will make it a big deal for better or worse.

Post by: Dr. SEGA Monkey on July 12, 2010, 10:10:22 am
Oh....well in that case, I bet it's something like voice actors or something. :|

I'm sick of these SEGA PR guys hyping up nothing. Like when they hyped the delay of Sonic 4. WHY would you hype that as "BIG SONIC NEWS" days before?
Title: Re: Big "Franchise-changing" news about Sonic this Thursday.
Post by: Sharky on July 12, 2010, 10:42:40 am
I don't think the Sega PR people are over hyping it... I just think the Sonic fanbase will take any little thing and start circle jerking over it or turn into rabid furious morons.

As for what it is... you'll see.

I do not understand, why is something like THIS considered such a big deal and 'franchise changing' when every single release of a Sonic game in the past 10 years has been nothing like the past releases? Only exceptions being Sonic Pocket Adventure, Sonic Colors, Sonic Riders 2, Free (lol) and Sonic the Hedgehog 4 - All for obvious reasons.

Color (colour?) me confused on this one. So it's a change from one thing to another, but it's not game related nor character design related?

I'm guessing Sonic's VA is leaving, but I'd hardly call it franchise changing...

Do not think so, as far as I know SEGA is very comfortable with 4Kids taking care of all of the voice work, not to mention an announcement like this would not effect any of the releases coming out this year.

Post by: Barry the Nomad on July 12, 2010, 03:29:07 pm
Well, we know it's a change (not an addition as, say, a movie would be) and we also know Sharky knows about it.

Sex change? Eggwoman?
Title: I think "Sonic Recolors" fan-game is inevitable
Post by: KAZ on July 12, 2010, 03:32:22 pm
Already done.

I will check it out come Thursday night, but I'm not excited. Just curious. Same kind of curiosity that would make you open a box on top of an empty table. You don't expect anything of value, in fact it's most likely hiding a spring-powered boxing glove waiting to knock you cold, but you go and check anyways =P

AAUK is behind this? He should announce the winners of the Ryo figures contest he held at SonicWrecks already. It's been more than a month.

I took part in it, and I believe I had a good shot at winning one. But he just seems to be everywhere doing these PR stunts and I'm tired of tracking down his Twitter and checking that garish site for announcements.

Me too. Chances are, it will be no big deal.

As far as 4 Kids go, weren't they sold off and bought by Funimation? That may have an effect on the voice actors contracts. It's obvious Mike Pollock's back (thank god!!), but Sonic and the others might still be in limbo. After all, outside of some grunts, I didn't hear any voice coming from Sonic.

Title: Re: Big "Franchise-changing" news about Sonic this Thursday.
Post by: Barry the Nomad on July 13, 2010, 07:24:13 am
Well, Sharky said it was something fans were requesting. It can't be Eggman's name as Sharky said he doesn't know that the said thing is being changed to. It could be a VA, but I doubt they'd excitedly announce the firing of somebody. My guess is that it's something that the average fan won't care about and the super fans will go into a rage over.

Funny thing: I didn't fully hear an American VA voicing Sonic for a game until I played Unleashed. SA1 and SA2 I played with the Japanese on (later on I played bits and pieces in English), Heroes I played with my XBOX set to Japanese and after that I didn't play any of the main series games until Unleashed released. Even then, I played the PS2 version all the way through in Japanese and played half of the 360 version in English.

So really, Jun'ichi Kanemaru has always been the voice of Sonic to me. >_<

If new VA is this franchise changing news, I wouldn't mind. It could actually be a good thing.

Jason allthough he's been sonic's VA for pretty long has done a Average to bad job imo.

Well, I was just joking. ^

If they are changing voice actors I wouldn't mind they got rid of them all together. I would like a silent Sonic.

As of now, all signs are pointing to Jason G. being the only one leaving (if the rumor is true).

Sharky totally called this one in terms of fan reactions: Sonic Stadium are going crazy, SEGAbits is "Meh... Oh look, Virtua Fighter 5 videos!"

Examples:

Roger Craig Smith (Sonic) http://www.rogercraigsmith.com/media/Ro ... mation.mp3 (http://www.rogercraigsmith.com/media/RogerCraigSmithAnimation.mp3)

Kate Higgins (Tails) http://katehiggins.com/voiceover/Animation.mp3 (http://katehiggins.com/voiceover/Animation.mp3)

For Roger, the first sample is very Sonic-like. For Kate, that second voice is very Tails-ish. Works for me!

I'm soooooo glad Tails isn't going to sound like a little girl anymore. His voice was the only 4kids voice that I never got used to. Hate it.

And yay! Mike Pollock stays! 8-)  He's great.

Only voice I really hated was Tails', I liked Grifftih but he was always so flat in the emotional scenes - Something that should not be in a Sonic game anyways.

Not effected by this, but I hope the new actor for Sonic does not take it too seriously and make everything so awkward like Ryan did.

In my opinion they should just get one person to voice each character and give them the same kind of mentality as Mario characters. Okay, I know what you are all thinking, but before you hit me!

[youtube:35rhzhn9]j9WgL90f9wA[/youtube:35rhzhn9]

Maybe not the best example, but I would really like it if they were just saying a few lines instead of whole minutes of dialog.

Uhg....sorry to bring this back up, but it's been confirmed that Roger Craig Smith is the Alton Towers Hotel Sonic voice.

So basically Sonic is going to sound like this from now on:

[youtube:2ju2oooa]eNGjSSJWgq0[/youtube:2ju2oooa]

chek owt teh CONSOLES!!1

I honestly think that's the worst Sonic voice ever. :| I was hoping that it would sound more like the first voice sample in Roger's demo:

Watch the SASASR commercial that Stadium has linked, it's much closer to how ROger will probably sound.
