Title: SEGA @ pax line-up
Post by: CrazyT on August 21, 2010, 01:10:28 pm

So they skipped gamescom (except for some games) and decided to use pax. I think it's great choice of SEGA since gamescom seemed to be full packed with people that waited 4 hours in line to play a game, so i've heard.

The line-up looks friggin great and personally I hope to learn more about the sonic games. Also i'm looking forward to some more info about conduit 2 and phantasy star portable 2.

September's gonna be great and I can't wait.

The line-up:

Sonic 4
Sonic Colors
Vanquish
Conduit 2
Yakuza 4
Phantasy Star Portable 2
Valkyria Chronicles 2

So what do you guys think?

Not the point. The point is that gamescom is in Europe. PAX on the other hand is in North America, as is E3. Skipping a show in a territory historically so important to the company is a complete PR disaster.

I know it wasn't the reason for them not going to gamescom. But even if they went, In the end it wouldn't have done anything because of the reason I stated. Dutch media here says that it was so crouded that regular people could only play 1 game throughout the whole day, and it should be about regular people because all the journalists are gonna give previews about the games anyway. And they have done that allready at E3.

Just my view on it

Yes it was really crowded, but at "normal" games you didn't have to wait that much, only on really big games (4 hours queue for Diablo 3, than big queues for Zelda, Call of Duty, Castlevania, Halo & Fable, Kinect and so on).

It was a bad decision for SEGA not to take part, but we don't know the exact reason. It was always planed that they take part, but then they decided not to go...

I've never heard about 'PAX' before...
I thought it was just an expression to ask 'gimme five pax of sugar'.

At least Sega was in the Paris Japan Expo, so that kinda counts as Europe, but I don't think a lot of the major video game outlets cover that expo, since it's has more to do with japanese culture, other than video games, that is.

But it's annoying, Sega seems to be too cheap these days to put out Youtube trailers for their upcoming games.

No Sega announcements from PAX, but I heard the special community party from Sega was kick-ass, at least according to Destructoid's Jim Sterling's account on the matter.

PAX is a mediocre event. Were it not for Duke and it would be completely passable.

TGS is where the money's at.

PAX is an event for gamers. A bit like gamescom for America. It's not supposed to have MEGATON ANNOUNCEMENTS or anything.
