So what can we expect to see from Sega at TGS 2010!? Lets put it into perspective!
Very Likely:
-Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity - PSP, 2011
-Vanquish - 360, PS3, October 21st, 2010
-Virtua Tennis 4 - PS3, 2011
-Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode I - XBLA, WiiWare, PSN, 2010
-Shining Hearts - 2011
-Sonic Colors - Wii, DS, Holiday 2010
-Yakuza [Next] - PS3, 2011
-Yakuza: Black Panther - PSP, September 22nd, 2010
-K On - PSP, September 30th, 2010
-Crazy Taxi - XBLA, PSN, 2010
-Sonic Adventure - XBLA, PSN, 2010
-Sonic Free Riders - Kinect, Late 2010
-Virtual On Force - 360, December 22nd, 2010
Possible
-Valkyria Chronicles 3
-Shogun 2: Total War
-Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown
-Phantasy Star Online [Next]
-Platinum Games [Next]
-Sakura Taisen Team [Next]
-3DS Title? (Monkey Ball? Sonic?)
-XBLA/PSN DC Ports? (Space Channel 5? Chu Chu Rocket?)
- Border Break Air Burst (trademarked)
What have I missed and what do you think of the line up?
-
I'm hoping for some news on the Dreamcast reissues for XBLA and PSN. And some kind of announcement that Platinum games has another long-term deal with Sega. And a home version of Border Break.
-
Valkryia Chronicles 3 and the New Yakuza are great, but I need something new from SEGA, something from their Japanese Inhouse studios.
The Madworld team finished their last game late 2008, I'm pretty sure they were working on something and we might hopefully see it at TGS.
-
I expect to see a new Sonic game, Virtual-On stuff, a new Wii release (probably an arcade conversion-hoping for The House of the Dead EX) at least two 3DS titles shown off and maybe something like a sequel to 7th Dragon.
I assume by Yakuza 4 you meant the Majima game? I expect this one to really impress me, and it is all I am really interested in at the moment.
-
Ops, yep ment Yakuza next not 4. editing.
-
Yakuza 0, Monkey Ball Kinect, Monkey Ball Move
I hope for the announcement of the new XBLA/PSN ports for Dreamcast games, Shenmue would be great. I think they will announce Space Channel & Chu Chu Rocket.
And then maybe a Project Diva game for home consoles and that's all. Don't expect too much new announcements to be honest, only 1-2 games as always.
A new Sonic game is highly unprobably as long Sonic 4 and Colors aren't out. I expect the new Sonic game to be announced at the beginning of next year.
hmm btw: I was thinking... Dance Planet was the game that worked the best on Kinect at Gamescom... how about Space Channel for Kinect?? That would be great :)
-
Crazy Taxi - XBLA, PSN, 2010
K On - PSP, September 30th, 2010
Kurohyou: Ryu Ga Gotoku Shinshou - PSP, September 22nd, 2010
Ryu Ga Gotoku title
Sonic Adventure - XBLA, PSN, 2010
Sonic Colors - Wii, DS, Holiday 2010
Sonic Free Riders - Kinect, Late 2010
Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode I - XBLA, WiiWare, PSN, 2010
Vanquish - 360, PS3, October 21st, 2010
Virtual On Force - 360, December 22nd, 2010
That and maybe the SOnic and Monkey Ball 3DS titles. MAYBE the PSO tenth anniversary title, and maybe some Dreamcast to XBA/PSN ports, hopefully Shenmue. Don't think we'll see much of Virtua Tennis 4 or Shining Hearts. Does SEGA show arcade games at TGS? Maybe some VF5:FS?
-
I read about Shenmue III somewhere.. Anyone can confirm this?
I'm expecting:
new Yakuza,
new Sonic and Monkey ball for the 3DS,
maybe some more XBLA DC games, prolly Space Channel 5 and some other, I hope.
Also hoping to hear some more about Vanquish.
My lucky guess jackpot: a new Virtua Striker.
-
@Supa, thanks used!
@CrackDude... Any Shenmue 3 rumours are about as likely to be real as... some kind of all mighty creator that nobody can see but we all have faith in anyway. =D

I never saw your brain, so I'm going to assume you don't have any.
Seeing is believing, yo!

You mean like having faith in Sonic Team ever making a great game ever again?

Do you guys think something in the lines of a Sonic Adventure 3 could be announced? 20th birthday coming and all.. Or maybe something big and totally new?
And what are the odds for some sort of new Phantasy Star game?
-
I think Sonic Adventure 3 is out. Unlike Sonic 4, the Adventure series continued past SA2 with Heroes, '06 etc. So SA3 is dead, at least in name.
But I'm with you, I'd love for a game that plays like SA1 and 2. Basically Colors with mini-games, adventure fields and the core characters.
-
Sonic 06 IS Sonic Adventure 3, or at least it was supposed to be.
But yeah, I can see the next major Sonic game having it in the title, it would help it sell more, I am sure.
And the odds are good for a new Phantasy Star game, it's SEGA's biggest series in Japan ATM.

Thats cool and all but Phantasy Star Portable 2, which was developed by members of Sonic Team and Alpha Systems comes out soon and from the demo is already being called the best Phantasy Star Online since the original.
So... no nothing like that.

It is funny how you could only think of one game to even mention. Also, Sonic Team did not develop it at all, just Alpha Systems.
Kind of makes this even funnier. As soon as Sonic Team got their hands off of the series it is actually playable again.

Wrong.
The guy that made the entire game great was Satoshi Sakai, (Dragon Sakai) he oversaw the entire project and guess what... He's from Sonic Team.
Not to mention the entire game is based off of an existing Sonic Team developed engine...
Many of the artists, music composers and programmers are from Sonic Team.

What does Satoshi Sakai have to do with developing the game? Just watching over what they did is not the same as developing it, like Alpha Systems did. Artists and stuff from Sonic Team I can believe worked on it, but again I do not think the art is what made the game fun.
It is like if you said Backbone should get all of the credit for everything on the HD Genesis/Mega Drive Collection... And what does it even matter? Even if half of the staff was made up of people from Sonic Team it still proves my point that Sonic Team has not made a great game in a long, long time. They needed another group to accomplish that, and the funniest part is that this is literally the only game you could name!
-

I'm pretty sure at the time, most of those were working on Phantasy Star Zero whilst Alfa System was commisioned to work on Phantasy Star Portbale. If I recall correctly, the Famitsu interview that revealed Phantasy Star Portable 2, Sonic Team said that Alfa were responsible for most of Phantasy Star Portable, whilst they did Phantasy Star Zero, then when both games came out, the two combined to work on Phantasy Star Portable 2, which is why it was produced relatively quickly.

Thats like you saying what does Nagoshi have to do with developing Yakuza...
Satoshi Sakai introduced all of the changes that MADE this a good game... He oversaw development and approved every change.
Again, Sonic Team already MADE the engine, all changes are simply new levels, enemy designs and weapons. Some gameplay tweaks such as roles and sheilds but hardly a brand new game.
Even if half of the staff was made up of people from Sonic Team it still proves my point that Sonic Team has not made a great game in a long, long time. They needed another group to accomplish that, and the funniest part is that this is literally the only game you could name!
Phantasy Star Portable 1, Phantasy Star: Zero, Puyo Pop Anniversary.
How many great new games have AM2 made recently?
-
Here's my ideal next 3D Sonic game:
3D stages akin to what Colors is offering, with an emphasis on 2.5D gameplay (making up for 70% of the level) and the occasional 3D running segments and epic set pieces (making up 30%). Each stage should be able to be played in full with Sonic, Knuckles or Tails.
Aesthetically, I'd love to see stages that resemble the tracks seen in Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing. I thought those were a great blend of the Unleashed cartoonish realism and the 16-bit style.
Outside of the regular action stages (oh! and I'd love to see the return of the Zone and Act naming structure) mini-games at about the level of Sonic Adventure would be awesome, stuff like the karts, whack-a-mole, snowboarding, pinball etc. They could mix 'em into the adventure, make them the bonus stages, whatever.
Even if all of the above ends up being less than 10 hours on the first playthrough, I guarantee that if it was fun I'd play it again and again. Take JSR for example, short game and yet I've played through it at least 8 times and played each area with each character at least twice (about 100 times).
-
Thats like you saying what does Nagoshi have to do with developing Yakuza...
A lot of those concepts are his. While I am not too worried about how the Majima game will turn out (mainly because they are an actual competent group) it is not really that big of a deal anyways because we already have a boatload of great games by them already. One okay or even shitty game out of like seven ain't too bad I think.
Satoshi Sakai introduced all of the changes that MADE this a good game... He oversaw development and approved every change.
So he just said yes or no to all of the changes? Does not really seem like this alone makes it a Sonic Team game above all else...
Again, Sonic Team already MADE the engine, all changes are simply new levels, enemy designs and weapons. Some gameplay tweaks such as roles and sheilds but hardly a brand new game.
So you are saying (As an example to compare) Epic Games should get the credit for every game on the Unreal Engine? Does not really make sense.
Phantasy Star Portable 1, Phantasy Star: Zero, Puyo Pop Anniversary.
Phantasy Star Portable 1 also had help from Alpha Systems... It does not even really change much when this and Zero were both all based on Phantasy Star Online stuff yet are worse even though they have had over 10 years to try and improve on all of it.
And do not bring Puyo Puyo into the conversation... The biggest change to that series in like 20 years was the art direction. Big whoop. Next you will be bringing The House of the Dead 2&3 Returns, right?
How many great new games have AM2 made recently?
What does this have to do with anything? If you are really going to go off and question AM2's quality in comparison to Sonic Team you truly have lost it.

You want a 3D game that is mostly 2D gameplay? The 2D sections in Unleashed and Colors are just lazy ways to make it seem like there are better platforming sections when it is just a straight away path.
I would like them to focus on normal platforming, I just do not want it to be incredibly frustrating or control poorly... Or have boring level gimmicks. All of these were the main problems with Unleashed, Heroes and both at the same time respectfully. It could have a billion playable characters for all I care, as long as they get the exploration and have normal platforming, none of that item collection nonsense, keep that to unlockable extras if you must.
Oh yeah, and make sure the story is basic and keep Iizuka the Hell away from it. He will find a way to ruin it AND add aliens into it.

Yeah, I'd prefer that. A free roaming 3D game is something I'd prefer to see kept in stuff like Jax, Banjo or Ratchet. Never really worked for me in Sonic games. Whenever Sonic went full 3D (as in run in whichever direction you want) I'd just get lost. '06 was a great example of how free roaming maps fail in a Sonic game. White Acropolis was a mess. Take a look at SA1 and 2 for example, they were great stages but were totally linear. Might as well have flipped them on their sides and play them as 2.5D. In fact that's basically what Unleashed did. THat direction + two or three alternate routes (low, medium, high) would be the best. Anyway, thats my personal opinion so yeah. Off to bed! nighty night :afroman:

Not even sure what point you are trying to make here...

No... but all of the other things I mentioned does... Such as the entire engine being developed BY Sonic Team...
So you are saying (As an example to compare) Epic Games should get the credit for every game on the Unreal Engine? Does not really make sense.
What doesn't make sense is that you are trying to compare an engine to an already built game... that Alpha Systems simply tweaked to fit the PSP and then added and took away content at Sakais command.
Phantasy Star Portable 1 also had help from Alpha Systems... It does not even really change much when this and Zero were both all based on Phantasy Star Online stuff yet are worse even though they have had over 10 years to try and improve on all of it.
The same way Virtua Fighter 5 is based off of Virtua Fighter 1 stuff... as in, concept and thats about it.
And do not bring Puyo Puyo into the conversation... The biggest change to that series in like 20 years was the art direction. Big whoop. Next you will be bringing The House of the Dead 2&3 Returns, right?
Cool, so you have no idea what has changed in this series since the start... Fever, my personal favourite is completely different from the previous games.
Anniversary has about 10 completely new gameplay modes... Seriously, reseach before you open your mouth.
What does this have to do with anything? If you are really going to go off and question AM2's quality in comparison to Sonic Team you truly have lost it.
No, you are personally talking about quantity... not quality... You are the one banging on about me only naming 1 good Sonic Team game now I'm asking you to tell me how many good recent AM2 games can you name.
-
Not even sure what point you are trying to make here...
I was explaining my stance on all of the praise I have given Nagoshi. I am thinking you are taking a lot of the comments I have made too seriously, I do not see him as a God-like figure or anything. This whole conversation broke out from what you said about God to begin with!
No... but all of the other things I mentioned does... Such as the entire engine being developed BY Sonic Team...
I do not really know what to say here. Lots of people develop engines for others to use. Like look at the game Stubbs the Zombie. I have no idea how good or bad this is, but it was all done on the engine used for Halo, does not mean Bungie should be getting the praise or hate from this game. What matters is not the engine, but who actually made the game, and it was not Sonic Team...
What doesn't make sense is that you are trying to compare an engine to an already built game... that Alpha Systems simply tweaked to fit the PSP and then added and took away content at Sakais command.
Well you are in luck because the Unreal Engines were designed with Unreal Tournament games in mind, and everyone who used it just tweaked it depending on what they needed.
The same way Virtua Fighter 5 is based off of Virtua Fighter 1 stuff... as in, concept and thats about it.
Cool, so you have no idea what has changed in this series since the start... Fever, my personal favourite is completely different from the previous games.
Anniversary has about 10 completely new gameplay modes... Seriously, reseach before you open your mouth.
What? Why would you compare the differences between something like such a massive change like Virtua Fighter 3 with a series that has the same gameplay as it has had for like 20 years now? New modes are just new modes, but Virtua Fighter 5 plays nothing like Virtua Fighter 1. Of course there are similarities, because it is in the same series.
Put it this way. Anyone who knows how to play Puyo Puyo can make a fan game of their own as long as they know how to design basic game structure. With Virtua Fighter... Not so much. Even with what you might see as minor details being tweaked with VF5 Version C to D would be considered extremely large jobs for pretty much anyone, including the people who have worked on the series for years.
Changes like that are not as massive as say... Fever mode, which changes nothing about the basic structure of the game, just sends puyos out differently. I do not know why you have to be such a dick about this, either...
No, you are personally talking about quantity... not quality... You are the one banging on about me only naming 1 good Sonic Team game now I'm asking you to tell me how many good recent AM2 games can you name.
No I am not. I never once mentioned quantity or even liking AM2 in this conversation, you are just assuming again. The point you made was off topic. I can mention how you never even looked for that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 song too!
Listen, the whole reason we are having this conversation at all is because you pretty much said there is no God and you made it seem like anyone who believes otherwise is not entirely right in the head. I made a joke that harmed you in the same way you knew saying shit like that would harm others. If you want my personal opinion, I think Sonic Team has made some 'great' games within the past ten years, you just took everything too far again, as usual and cannot take a bit of your own medicine.
-
Sega has trademarked Border Break Air Burst.
And I think there are no more Platinum Games. At least, not as we have seen on the beggining.
Mikami is not there anymore (well, he was never a member of Platinum) and I have seen a lot of people from Platinum leaving the studio to works on another companies/studios.
Well, I hope Platinum follow working with Sega though.
-

Yes granted that does happen... but AGAIN it is completely different... This isn't just an engine, Its the full, already designed game... Levels, Weapons, Photon Arts, Rooms, Lobbies... The game ALREADY EXISTS. Phantasy Star Portable and Phantasy Star Portable 2 are basically PSU on the PSP with some gameplay tweaks and changes under Sakai-sans guidence.
Well you are in luck because the Unreal Engines were designed with Unreal Tournament games in mind, and everyone who used it just tweaked it depending on what they needed.
Yeah... see above.

Puyo Pop 15th Anniversary has about 10 completely new modes,

Yes it still involves falling puyos... but thats because its the same series...
No I am not. I never once mentioned quantity or even liking AM2 in this conversation, you are just assuming again. The point you made was off topic. I can mention how you never even looked for that Sonic the Hedgehog 4 song too!
Way to miss the point... You were the one blowing up about how I could ONLY name 1 good Sonic Team game recently... So I'm asking YOU to tell me how many good AM2 games you can name recently.
Listen, the whole reason we are having this conversation at all is because you pretty much said there is no God and you made it seem like anyone who believes otherwise is not entirely right in the head.

I'm not sure how you think this has 'harmed' me, I'm not someone that gives a shit about Sonic Team... You just have this silly thought in your head that I'm some kind of fan of theirs simply because I haven't jumped on the 'OMG SONIC 4 SUCKS IIZUKA SUCKS' band wagon and I've heard from pretty reliable sources that they are back on track...
Maybe your sources have said other wise, but then... hows that Sega All stars mini game collection coming along? How about that one CGI with Joe Musashi? Wheres that Nuckles DLC?... Bayonetta in All-Stars Racing?

My point is not really changing with Phantasy Star... It is the same game since Phantasy Star Online except worse. How does that even happen? The fact is that Alpha System had to come in and bring up the quality of the newest release.
On Puyo Puyo, you are just being stupid. It does not play differently they are just new modes. Virtua Fighter games have new modes too, notice how I never mentioned those though?
Maybe your sources have said other wise, but then... hows that Sega All stars mini game collection coming along? How about that one CGI with Joe Musashi? Wheres that Nuckles DLC?... Bayonetta in All-Stars Racing?
What? The last three were from someone you know and I told you not to put complete faith in them. I do not even know why you would mention something like this here to begin with. It is obvious I annoyed you a lot to begin with, otherwise you would not be trying to be such a dick to me in front of everyone else.
I mean, it is not like Nagoshi's Western game, that new series by the Valkyria team or revival of a big series ever came true either!
-
Phantasy Star Universe is pretty awesome and as fun to play with friends as PSOnline.
I think the problem is with paying a subscription for a game that is fundamentally very similar to it's free-to-play ancestor.
-
I just wanted to state my opinion on the phantasy star thing.
So here goes:
I think phantasy star online is a great (*&@ing awesome game that I still play to this day. Some weeks ago I decided to give phantasy star universe a chance after thinking it's crap for a long time. I really hated it when I first played it and never played it again.
A week ago I finished it, and you know what? I loved it, not so much like pso, and I know it has it's flaws and I recon that, but I loved it still.
So in the mean time I was still playing phantasy star online and also phantasy star zero on my ds (i'm a big phantasy star player as you may notice) and both games immadiatly gave me a feeling as if I was back at home, as in it felt much better than phantasy star universe's system
But you know, i've learned to accept how the universe/portable series work. I just see them as some kind of alternate gameplay style in the franchise. I appreciate both gameplay styles from zero/online, and from universe/portable.
I would love them to bring out a console pso game in the future combining the best of both gameplay styles because I really love some of the systems in PSP. I'm also looking forward to see how they fixed some of the flaws in psp2.
2 things I miss in the psp franchise though are the music changes and mags. Really a waste to not have them back in psp2.

another possible TGS game?

Can't be bothered to argue about it anymore... But I will say that.
1) Puyo Pop DOES have modes that play wildly different from one another...
Yes they all envolve falling puyos. Much like VF involves punching and kicking.
2) Nagoshis game almost sertainly became this new gun focused Yakuza game, the VC team new game I can't say what happened but as I always tell you plans change but I heard it from two seporate places so...
-
What I was trying to get around with Virtua Fighter being so different is that everything down to the physics, level layout and graphics engines being used are always changing. Puyo Puyo is still a sprite based game with the same grid and same physics as always.
I mean, Virtua Fighter has tons of new modes that change a lot too. Something like VF5's Quest is a nice example, but the core gameplay of VF5 remains the same. I mean if you added Quest to Virtua Fighter 1 it would still be a hugely different experience from VF5's Quest because of how the mechanics work.
Another way to put it is that a master of Virtua Fighter 2 would not instantly be a master of Virtua Fighter 3, while someone who could beat Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine without much worries would not have a very hard time with Puyo Puyo Anniversary.
It is really not the same thing at all the way you are trying to point out.

A master of Puyo Pop Sun my not be a master of Puyo Pop Fever.
I'm not saying there arent more changes in VF games... I'm saying you are trying to discredit the Puyo Pop series as not changing at all, nothing being improved or added. Which is simply not true.
-
That is not true. You mentioned Virtua Fighter in comparison first and I was trying to defend that and point out that it is different.
I am not trying to discredit Puyo Puyo as a good series or anything, I am just saying that it's continued quality has more to do with them not changing anything major and that it would not be fair to list every game in the series Sonic Team made as proof they are making as many good games as AM2 or whatever you meant by that. The same is true with the Phantasy Star games for the most part, not much of their gameplay has been altered for 10 years. Neither of these are issues, mind you, just saying.
Sonic games for instance have quality ranges all over the place, but they do change pretty much everything for each release. Something like Shadow had very similar controls to Heroes and very similar art to Adventure 2, but had entirely new gameplay styles and gimmicks. All of this pretty much sucked, but they DID try new things.
I disagree that a master of Puyo Puyo Sun may have any troubles in Puyo Puyo Fever though. I know a guy who plays the series like weekly and masters each release the second he plays them. The same is never true for Virtua Fighter, even with some of those really crazy talented guys.
I would say another puzzle game such as Columns would have been a better comparison than VF.

Makes sense.
They first time I saw Majima with a Shotgun I knew it was his shooter.
But that also means its aimed for the west, no?
-

Fantastic, So not wanting to continue derailing my thread with your shitty argumentative rubbish means I admitted I was wrong?
Fuck it, Banned for a week for continuing an argument I went out of my way to stop only to try and provoke it further and derailing a thread.

To be honest I don't really know but I suspect putting guns into a Yakuza game IS to make it more western.
-
At least there's a chance of it being released in the west.

If it was indeed aimed for the west, then we will witness the return of the English dub.
-
i don't think that they made this decision because of the west market .
the actual theme of Yakuza and the Japanese Settings has no market potential in US or Europe . that was always the main problem .
-
Puhleese. Just because it has guns in it doesn't mean its foucused at the west. And the Yakuza has always had a counter culture presence in the west which is why sega called it that in the first place. Yakuza's real problem over here has always been with marketing and the lack of doing it properly. Same reason IMHO that ALPHA PROTOCOL failed. In fact I'm suprised its taken this long for them to include guns in the series considering yakuza seem to use them all the time in any tv show or movie based around their exploits. I think the real reason a shooter game or FPS hasn't gone down well in the east is because they never tried to implement a eastern theme/design ethic that the users in that market could relate to. If Sega didn't scrap FIFTH PHANTOM SAGA when they did who knows where the genre would be in the east. Prehaps VANQUISH and a couple of others from sega will break that deadlock.
-
If Sega didn't scrap FIFTH PHANTOM SAGA when they did who knows where the genre would be in the east.
About FPS, i know that SEGA canceled the game (ref. Famitsu), but in the US Patent and Trademark Office, the trademark relative is still LIVE. BOH?!?

Because trademarks can have a five or ten year lifespan, depending on how much they registered the mark to last. Once it expires sega won't bother to reregister it if the game is definatly canned.
-
Thanks for the info Joe.
-
I have reason to believe most of Fifth Phantom Saga's concepts went into Sonic 06. I do not think they will be going back down that road again, but it is best we pray to Suzuki just in case.
-
Fifth Phantom Saga could have been a good game, it just didn't really fit in with Sonic. Just too much.

Something tells me the New Yakuza will take 80% of SEGA's showing.

The whole phantasy star online 2 thing got me really excited. Screw sonic 4 and colors. I'm all pso2 hyped from now 8-)
Though if it ends up to be untrue, Fingers crossed that's not going to happen

there is a possibility ..
but maybe they will delay the announcement to December ?
one thing for sure , there gonna be a new console PSO announcement this year ..

I don't know how to extract flash files, wish i did. Let someone at neogaf do it i guess.
Funny how the mystery games section is linking to End of Eternity and Valkyria 2.
-
haha they used the same coding as the flash site for last year, that's where those were http://tgs.sega.jp/2009/ (http://tgs.sega.jp/2009/)
-
Yeah I was about to say one links to EoE and another to Valkyria 2... but that cant be right.
So wait there is only 2 more spaces at the top for the 'big' games.
I'm sure Yakuza 5 is a 'big game'... So where does that leave Valkyria Chronicles 3, Phantasy Star Online 2, Virtua Fighter Final Showdown.
Not that any of them are announced... but I think they are highly likely.
-

Probably not, the reason i said that is if they potentially changed their minds and redid the game the trademark's lifespan would cover it just incase it expires and someone else took over the mark. But that usually happens to games whose mark's been dead for over ten years like Sega's CRACKDOWN and BODYCOUNT which got took over by someone else.
Thanks for the info Joe.
On a quick note games not considered big titles get a limited trademark register lifespan.Usually from the subsidaries.

Don't know if it has been posted..

Pretty strong showing and interest for almost all types of gamers if you add Yakuza: The End and one of Valkyria Chronicles 3, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown or Phantasy Star Online 2.
-
What is Partner Companies? Means that Sega will publish F1 2010 in Japan?
-

They just give them floorplace, Chun-Soft have started publishing all of their games now and I expect the rest to do so, unless someone does a Capcom and pays to publish one of their games in Japan ((As they do with Grand Theft Auto)
-
and one of Valkyria Chronicles 3, Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown or Phantasy Star Online 2.
But I want all 3.
Edit, I don't imagine Taketwo or Codemasters will be publishing games in Japan.
-
Oh floorspace.. That's nice.
Personally I'm really excited for F1 2010.
-
Where's Sonic 4?
-
That list is obviously incomplete right? No mention of Yakuza: The End?
Fingers crossed that VF FS gets a console announcement.
-
It's the official list. So any surprises and announcements aren't listed.
-
If that is the case then I expect Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II to be a reveal there.
Because the link goes to the End of Eternity site, I assume End of Eternity 2 will be there as well. SEGA did say they wanted to release that garbage for ten years, after all.
-
Sega hasn't really had any 'Surprises' recently though have they? I'm starting to think this is going to be it. Which would be hugely dissapointing.

I think being a sega fan hasn't felt so nice since... ever.
So uhm, i'm kind of speculating VC3(almost sure) but what do you guys think?
Also if this VC3 ended up to be true, wouldn't that make pso2 also ending up true? I don't have a lot of experience with how name get registered and such, but it seems like they come true, or isn't that always the case?
-
I think being a sega fan hasn't felt so nice ever since... ever
I dunno man, still a long way from topping Mega Drive, SEGA Saturn and Dreamcast era SEGA.
Though certainly a very strong lineup, now all we need is Phantasy Star Online 2 and Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown and anyone not impressed with SEGA's lineup is crazy!
-
Yeah I guess so. I was just a little kid back than having fun with my master system and mega drive so I was kind of developing the whole fan thing. Never had a saturn though. The dreamcast era was great but I find the games sega are coming out today to be of a much higher quality.
SEGA's line-up is on the level where a sega console with all those games would maybe sell millions. I know it's not gonna happen now, but I know deep down every fan is hoping for that day to come. Shenmue 3 anyone?
Let's make a toast to that 8-)
I'm just excited lol, must.... stay... calm....
Need... to supress... fanboyism
-
my best stab at analysing the teaser leads me to beolieve you're squad 422 of the atlantic federation in this game
-
Ohh, well this gives me hope! I was trying to keep my hopes low after the E3 debacle and that Gamescom failure this year.
-
Failure? Sega wasn't even there, how can you say it failed?
-
Virtua Tennis 4 was there though, and it looks like the weakest release yet and was only announced for the PlayStation 3.
-
but so was Sonic Colours which looks like the best Sonic game since... the Dreamcast era, if not better.
-
Was not Total War there and demostrated to a live crowd too?

I wouldn't go as far as to say better. You can't even begin to compare the impact Sonic Adventure had on everyone. But I hope it's just as fun!
And yes, VT4 looked like a disappointment. At least with that control scheme.
-

I wont lie, I'm sure everyone posting here today at least liked Sonic Adventue 1... maybe even loved it. I know I did... But it was also the game that introduced some of the biggest problems the series has today.
Sonic Colours seems to fix many of them, so I think in some ways to some people it could be a better game. (If it does turn out to be a quality game.)
-
Well from that point of view I agree. I do hope Colors is finally a good Sonic game, leading way to a great one like it used to be.
-
VT4 and SFR are just modified titles, they're not the real move/Kinetic titles IE games created around the add on specifically. I thought most of you lot knew that so i dunno why everyone is complaining for about something most of you aren't even going to invest in.
-
Sonic Free Riders WAS actually designed around Kinect stuff and cannot be played with a controller. All of the items and gimmicks in the game are completely new and nothing like anything in the spinoff series yet.
-

Modified game ie being based on an exisiting title to use with a particular platform's unique attribute. It wasn't built specifically around it like some upcoming titles. Throwing new stuff in when the engine and design code already exists doesn't make it new. next thing you'll be telling us VT 2009 was brand new because it can't be played by anything but a Wii controller.
-
@Sanus
Which is why I don't understand folks who want a controller option. If they included a controller option, then Kinect would lose out on an accessory exclusive title and Free Riders would be a pointless sequel to Riders Zero Gravity. I'll bet you SEGA didn't even consider Free Riders existing until the Kinect was initially announced. I'll also bet that MS helped fund a portion of Free Riders in exchange for no controller option. That, or it is just too taxing on the dev team to develop two control layouts. It's like complaining about Sonic CD not having a cartridge version or Chaotix not being on the standard Genesis.
-
Will Sega have a conference/keynote in the show?
-
Was not Total War there and demostrated to a live crowd too?
Oh yeah, so... it was actually a great sucsess and mademan is wrong.
Indeed I am, I can't believe I forgot about Tota War being shown off. VT4 was a bit 'pffft' but Sonic Colours might be good and Total War was excellent.
In any event, looking forward to TGS much more than before!

Crazy Taxi - XBLA, PSN, 2010
K On - PSP, September 30th, 2010
Kurohyou: Ryu Ga Gotoku Shinshou - PSP, September 22nd, 2010
Ryu Ga Gotoku title
Sonic Adventure - XBLA, PSN, 2010
Sonic Colors - Wii, DS, Holiday 2010
Sonic Free Riders - Kinect, Late 2010
Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode I - XBLA, WiiWare, PSN, 2010
Vanquish - 360, PS3, October 21st, 2010
Virtual On Force - 360, December 22nd, 2010
That and maybe the Sonic and Monkey Ball 3DS titles. MAYBE the PSO tenth anniversary title, and maybe some Dreamcast to XBA/PSN ports, hopefully Shenmue. Don't think we'll see much of Virtua Tennis 4 or Shining Hearts. Does SEGA show arcade games at TGS? Maybe some VF5:FS?
Well, I got six out of ten. Seven if you count the new Yakuza. Not bad, huh?
Can't believe they aren't showing Sonic 4, though.
-
Ok the lineup is very good, but:
1) there are no surprises(again), Yakuza:The End and Valkyria3 will occupy two empty slots; about Yakuza there were words already this spring while val3 was almost revealed in these days.
2)As I'm sure many SEGAbits members, I would have liked a greater number of "BIG" titles, exp. : PSO2, VFFS, a new Shinobi, Shining Force 4(but when ever!), or new IP, not to mention the huge catalog of old masterpieces from which to draw.
-

Well, if there was to be a surprise, wouldn't it make sense that we wouldn't know about it yet?
I wouldn't count out VF FS just yet, although it may not be a shoo-in. I think that will definitely make it to console (Don't forget the strong rumour I posted on the front page a while back, I really think that has some creedence. The same guy leaked KOF XIII about a month before it was announced) even if it's not announced at TGS.

These games are just experimental cash ins so they can get a handle of the hardware/add on, that's why its cheaper for them to use existing game codes rather then create a game from the ground up because if kinetic doesn't take off their R+D investment would be minimal. The money part because it'll hopefully make a reasonable profit. Saying that though i know SOJ are supposed to be planning two new games for these new add ons.
-
The 360 'is suppose' to get 15 titles from SEGA, PS3 and Wii only 11 each. That would mean that 4 are exclusive to 360 (and/or PC).
If the press release is to be believed. All we have seen is Sonic Riders Kinect game and Virtual On Force. Hummm.
-
Jet Set Radio World and Shenmue 3 confirmed.
...or not.
-
Yakuza: The End 360 exclusive, it's obviously aimed at the Gears of War demograph.
-
Ollie King for Kinect believe.
-
Shenmue III will have Full Reactive Eyes Entertainment for real this time all thanks to Kinect.
-
Ollie King for Kinect believe.
This is a big true WANT for me.
-
Actually... you know I could see Shenmue working on Kinect. Before I get lynched, hear me out.
I could see it being played with a controller for the fighting (since there is a delay in motion detection. Not huge, but it's enough that I wouldn't want to play a fighting game with it) and for navigating the world. But you could use kinect to pick up and examine objects and look around rooms etc. I think it could really add to the immersion. Some of the QTE's could possibly work well with it, requiring you to jump during chase scenes etc.
Having said that, I would rather have it on a regular controller only, but I do think it wuoldn't be horrible on Kinect.

I can see where you are coming from, but I would rather not risk it. I must admit I really do not like any motion control... Feels like they are trying to re-invent the wheel.
Give me a good old fashion joypad anyday! =D
(lol joypad.)

I was saying for awhile that Shenmue would be really cool with Kinect, but at the end of the day, yeah I would prefer a controller.
It would be cool though.

I agree that the joypad is the way to go (when DID joypad get replaced with Controller anyway?), but I do think that being able to open drawers and examine things with your hands would be neat. Not to mention you can 'look around' and change perspective in Kinect games by moving your head/walking around the room.
But yeah, when it comes to the fights and stuff, kinect just wouldn't cut it.
Anyway, I'm kinda getting off topic now. Back to TGS, I really am looking forward to this, and I'm really interested in seeing if VF makes an appearance of some kind at the show. I can't tell if it's too early to announce a home port or not though, considering it's still quite new in arcades.
I know that it immediately seems like they shouldn't release a home port, but it seems like thye don't hurt arcades as much as you would think, if you look at SFIV and BlazBlue, I believe they were still very popular and making lots of money in arcades even after their home ports were released. I know that SNK hasn't announced a home port of KOF XIII yet, partly because they want to stretch the arcade life out, so it'll be interesting to see what Sega does.

I'm pretty sure at this point, after closing the PC/PS2 servers of PSU to make way for 'new better things' in the series, having registered the domain for PSO2 and droping a number of hints including this one. Well I'm pretty sure some kind of big suprise is garenteed.
I just hope they show it off at TGS, I think Sega needs their TGS to be as strong as possible, they need one large push to change the really annoying hate they get from general gamers.

Who cares what those retards think? It's what sega gamers think that really counts.Another problem with TGS and other event shows of its ilk need to be treated as the main event like they use to be and not pratically reveal a new game right before the actual event takes place.

What do you know about this 'Black Rock Shooter RPG' got to say first I've ever heard of this...
-
It's based on Black Rock Shooter, which started life as a fanmade Vocaloid song, got a fanbase and then got a one episode anime which is little more than a music video. there isnt much plot to it beyond a girl with a big gun killing demons so it seems like an odd choice to make into an RPG but I guess they must have some idea
-
Thats pretty weird... lol.
-
Posted it as news, since Sharky is a homosexual fairy boy.

what!

Strangely enough, I came across that a while back, never realized the fan characters were so popular that they've got a game being made of them.
Make sure no one tells Sonic fans.

Pretty cool, its no Kool the Hedgehog though. He always likes talking about them glory days with Sonic.
"Hey man, remember in 1992 when we fought Robotnik? Remember in '92 when they called him that?"
According to someone on the comments section, on the front page (username escapes me atm), its drawn by the same designer that did Miku. So, probably a fan song thing, but character seems legit.

I didnt put it on the frount page because I was under the impression we don't know for sure that it has anything to do with Sega yet.

it's not the same artist, Miku was designed by Kei, BRS was designed by Huke, she isnt actually a vocaloid, it's an original character design, but it inspired a guy who made Vocaloid songs on niconico to make a BRS song with vocaloid. they then formed a group and made actual vocaloid albums and songs for some fairly big name anime with vocaloid, it's pretty nuts for a doujin thing to go so far.
we dont know for SURE if it's sega related, but I believe George tagged it as rumour for that reason. the fact the site is nearly identical to code1935.jp registered by the same guy and the vocaloid connection makes it pretty likely though.

Sega is finally bringing VF5: FS to consoles, next up The House of the Dead 4 & EX please.

Seems like next week is gonna be a huge week for SEGA
Yakuza the End, Valkyria 3, PSO2?, Virtua Fighter 5 final showdown? something else?

yeah , i really hope so
also if VC3 is not for HD i may kill someone
i am pissed from the limitation in VCII , i know it's a great PSP game but not as great as the first one .

I don't expect the VF5 FS announcement next week at TGS, neither the new Sonic 20th year project. Both announcements will follow early next year in my opinion.
I expect only 2 new big announcements at TGS, one is Valkyria 3, the other maybe this black rock shooter or the new PSO project. Maybe some new Dreamcast announcements for XBLA/PSN and new N3DS announcements.
But let's hope for a lot of surprises :)

Stole from GAF, which was stolen from Andriasang.
Everyone is on Ustream at this year's Tokyo Game Show. That includes Sega, who announced today that it will be broadcasting most of its stage shows live.
You can see a full schedule of stages here.
Highlights include:
Thursday 9/16, 11:00 - 11:40
Black Panther Yakuza Completion Ceremony, featuring appearances by Toshihiro Nagoshi, members of the voice staff, Anne Nakamura and other idols (including the pole dancer), and music group Rize. This will also serve as an announcement press conference for the Black Panther TV show
Thursday 9/16, 12:30 - 13:00
Yakuza Of the End Production Press Conference, featuring Toshihiro Nagoshi and the seven winning hostesses. Sega held a similar press conference at last year's TGS for Yakuza 4.
Thursday 9/16, 14:00 - 14:30
"Coming Soon." Could this be for that new game that Sega has been teasing? You know, the one everyone knows is a new Valkyria Chronicles?
Friday 9/17, 11:00 - 11:30
Vanquish Stage, featuring director Shinji Mikami and producer Atsushi Inaba.
Friday 9/17, 12:30 - 13:00
Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Stage, featuring producer Satoshi Sakai.
Saturday 9/18, 15:20 to 15:50
Shiren the Wanderer 5 Stage, featuring Chunsoft CEO Koichi Nakamura.
Saturday 9/18, 13:10 to 13:40
Coming soon.
Saturday 9/18, 11:00 to 11:40
Shining Hearts Voice Cast Press Conference. This won't be broadcast (Sega didn't say why, but it's probably due to restrictions on the voice actor side.)
Saturday 9/18, 12:10 to 12:40
Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity Web Radio Public Recording.
Sunday 9/19, 14:10 to 14:40
Coming soon.
Sunday 9/19, 14:50 to 15:20
Virtual On Force stage featuring series producer Jurou Wataru and Super Robot Taisen chief producer Takanobu Terada. (A bit odd...)
Sunday 9/19, 16:20 to 16:50
Tokyo Game Show 2010 Sega Finale Live. Sega's legendary H. band will be joined by True Blue for this annual musical sendoff. The audio probably won't be good over Ustream, but don't miss it!

It will be a fine weekend. Full schedule I cannot be arsed to translate (http://http://tgs.sega.jp/2010/event/index.html) (includes mega hit Project Diva *^-^*).

So all three ??? conferences are Valkyria Chronicles 3... thats a shame.
I sure hope PSO2 at least has some CGI trailer or something.
-
All of this is just for Valkyria? FUCK!
If SEGA was a person right now, I'd slap the shit out of them.
-
One for the game, one for the anime, one for the connection between both. I kid. With three 30 minute slots they will likely have several team members discussing the different aspects of the game.

USTREAM link for live coverage is ready ...

No, they will show 3 times the same thing about VC3. One is on thursday, one on saturday and the last on sunday. They just want that all the people can see VC3 because it won't be there as a playable version. That's my guess.
-
Free Riders trailer had some bumpin' music!
(crosses fingers for PSO2)
-
*fingers crossed for PSO2, Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown and Sakura Taisen.*
Segas current line up plus those three... Would easily be their best line up since going 3rd party... EASILY.
