coming next week.
Looks like this is the official title, and Sega is ready to show it next week on the pages of Famitsu.
[RYU GA GOTOKU OF THE END] .
I think this is the last title using the same engine for the PS3. Let's wait for the next week. Also, I'll be there in TGS to see it with my own eyes.
-
what a weird name !
like a dragon of the end :?: :!: :/
and what makes you think that this is the last game using the old engine ??
-
Like a Dragon of the End? I wonder what the english title will be called, Yakuza: The End?
In any event kinda dissapointing it's revealed in Famitsu instead of a big reveal at TGS.

I think it is better for Sega to reveal their games before the event instead of going up against the shit thats going to get far more attention... like Metal Gear Solid or Final Fantasy.
-
My Guess:
Yakuza: End of the Dragon
Yakuza: Dragon End
Yakuza: Fall of the Dragon
Yakuza: Dragon Fall

Are there even any major Metal Gear or Final Fantasy games going to be at the event?
I wish it was announced at TGS as well, would have much preferred to have been watching a live video stream while it was happening. Would have been awesome because we have no idea what it could possibly be like.

Metal Gear Solid Raiden and that PS3 exclusive Final Fantasy 13 sequal or what ever.
-
Metal Gear Solid Rising is a spinoff about the character every fan of the series hates and that Final Fantasy game is too, both that and the original FFXIII release were just announced for the Xbox 360 in Japan so I doubt that will get much more interest than something like this.
-
It's not like we've just had this announcement a new Yakuza game is coming out.
I do not quite see what there is dissapointing considering we already know part of Tokyo is in ruins, all the characters are wielding guns and [spoiler:2sgi0b71]Goda comes back from the grave appearently.[/spoiler:2sgi0b71]
And considering we know all that, just telling us the name of the title is not that big, after all we already know the game is coming. What I would consider a major reveal is if they actually showed as part of the storyline or bigger yet, the gameplay, both we still know nothing about. That is the big reveal, just randomly saying.

Are you suggesting they wont still be huge hits and go onto sell millions? Because they will... Trust me.
-
Besides MSG and FF sell down to their brand name alone regardless if the game content is actually any good or not.
The only game Sega has like that is really Sonic.
-
The popularity of the Metal Gear series is just baffling to me. It is an utterly weird, convoluted storyline. The games intentionally break immersion and remind the player that they are not only playing a game, but playing a damn silly game.* Yet it sells millions, which means the average meathead American is loving them. I reckon a lot of it has to do with nostalgia for the original 8-bit series.
*(which I happen to really admire them for doing)
-
Braaaaiiiinnnnsss....!!!
I love it.
-
Looks like it'll be a fun spin-off.
The Yakuza series has always had that wacky humour that pops up every once in a while. Zombies seem like a good fit.
-
I think it sounds pretty cool. It is a spinoff, and this is the only way you [spoiler:30700nmg]could bring back Goda.[/spoiler:30700nmg]
Now I just want to see the gameplay!

Same here. Wanna see Kazuma blow some brains out. If they ever put secret characters in, let it be G.
-
This game BETTER have a ton of The House of the Dead references. I am talking even like secret hidden bosses and unlockable characters. If not, I am fully calling shenanigans!
-
Question: Does anybody think that this would be renamed "Yakuza of the Dead" for Western audiences were it to come over here? I ask because Yakuza of the End sounds very awkward, almost like a mistranslation. Might as well cash in on the name and sell it as a crossover for $$$. Bonus points if the game actually has HotD references. Ooooh, a cameo by G would be badass.
-
It could be, I've been calling it that for the past few days because The Yakuza of the Dead just sounds better.
Also when they showed it off at the conference, it had The House of the Dead music.

What... really?
-
I always called it Yakuza: The End rather than Yakuza OF the end.
Yakuza of the Dead sounds great though.
-
someone who knows people inside SEGA should submit the name idea of "Yakuza of the Dead" to them
[spoiler:1ybjr4dd]*cough* sharky *cough*[/spoiler:1ybjr4dd]

The only guy i talk to is so low down in the chain that he would have little influence on such a thing...

For those who missed the second Yakuzambies trailer:

I think this looks like brilliant fun. I hope when it comes to the US they call it The Yakuza of the Dead and pretend it is a The House of the Dead crossover!

At 2:13, a protestor is holding a "Loving Dead" sign.

I am not sure if it is related to the EX game or if it is just a group of people who want us to be nice to the zombies. Considering how open to SEGA and general comedy the series is known for, it could easily be either!
-
I think it is just a play on 'living dead' as I think the EX game is. But not related... Although I totally want cross over shit! Would be awesome.
-
Yeah, Sega games could use more cross-overs. So far the only team that's really taken advantage of cross overs is AM2 (OutRun car in Afterburner, Afterburner plane in Fighters Megamix (in fact ALL of fighters megamix), Jeffy/Sonic in Daytona USA, MJQ Jazz Bar in VF5, Ghost Squad in Afterburner Climax ETC ETC ETC).
Would be great to see G make an appearance or at least get a mention, maybe some kind of nod to Dr Curien or the Mansion as well. Hell even just having some music from HOTD1 during some fights would be nifty.
-
There are a lot more cross overs then that.
Recently;
Bayonetta, Pantasy Star Portable 2, Valkyria Chronicles, VC2 and Project Diva 1& 2 have had cross overs... Not to mention Sonic & Sega Racing.

Bayonetta was more references than crossovers, haven't played VC or PSP yet though. Did they actually have characters/places cross over though, or just have references/items that link to it?
You know how I feel about Sonic and Sega All-Stars racing... but i guess if I brought up Megamix it's fair to bring that up.
-
Valkyria Chronicles has Vyse, Aika and Fina from Skies of Arcadia playable.
Valkyria Chronicles 2 if you have a save file of Phantasy Star Portable 2 you can unlock characters and missions related too PSO.
PS: Portable 2 has clothes and weapons from other Sega games as does Project Diva.

Beach Spikers Volleyball on the Gamecube has an Ulala costume.

You could also build Dural I think.
Virtua Fighter games have tons of SEGA cameos too, but mostly subtle things like character faces or just their names. Ryo Hazuki and Lan Di were in VF5 by name, WOO!
Also, just because I want to talk about Halo there is a slight reference to Virtual-On in one of the unlockable helmets.

Halo Reach has drivable forklifts. They are useless in the campaign. Is Bungie crying for Shenmue too?
-
Yakuza series has a running IF series that's based off of Virtua Fighter and if I remember correctly, the arcade games they have in the titles are both Outrun and Virtua Fighter 5.
Also an AiAi toy and music from NiGHTS and Billy Hatcher (WTF?) appear in Yakuza 4.

I hope this is the official thread, don't know if this trailer has been picked up.
[youtube:39glhccf]XgkDfrJVmFU[/youtube:39glhccf]
It shows a lot of gameplay. Looks really good imo
-
This is the movie from the closed doors booth that Sega build there. I was there and Nagoshi was in the entrance XDD
-
I think we did post this trailer, most of it Ive seen before anyway. So I'm sure we did.
I 'd forgotten just how wacky and awesome it looks though.
-
Yes it's absolutely magnificent and a little crazy.
-
Well this game does show that Sega still thinks out of the box. I mean isn't this something that Metal gear Solid or HALO could have done considering soldiers vs zombies wouldn't be hard to sell than gangsters vs zombies. As usual Sega proves "to be this good...
-
I think the creators are just having fun, adding some variation, Do something else than the usual and also learn from the experience.
I can imagine it get kind of boring to keep doing the same thing year after year.
Shenmue 3 can't come soon enough though
