Title: Let's Dance, Boys! - The Bayonetta Thread
Post by: Barry the Nomad on February 11, 2010, 08:32:58 pm
Dat ass so fine it needs its own thread!

I just completed the game today (half Normal, half Easy) and it was abso-fuckin-riffic!

BEST ending to a game in years! No, no. Not the plot. I'm talking (minor SPOILERS) the fake out credits, the additional boss fight, the funeral, the "she's back!" moment, the credits with playable bits and score within the credits, the pole dance, the ending screen, the awesome art gallery gift, the "Congratulations!" screen, the music video...

oof! It was just such a "thanks for playing", like I was actually rewarded for completing the game.

Now to get me some costumes. :D

I agree the ending was awesome, very fun and entertaining.

Trust me though Barry, there is LOT more for you to uncover in this game even though you've finished the story. I've clocked over 60 Hours into the game, have 1000/1000 achievements and finished it on Normal, Hard and Infinite Climax, finished it on Normal in under 3 hours and I STILL have a shitload of things to unlock!

One of hte best games I've ever played.

Yep, there is a lot of unlockables! I could say more than any game I played this gen.
It feels like last gen, where devs would put all the content there instead of asking you to buy (download) a key to unlock it

I've heard that one can use the payphones to acquire certain items, I've also heard that destroying all the benches on the upper level of the train station and then jumping onto the train yields a halo payoff. So many little secrets!

Oh yeah, at 1:25...

I've put 40 hours on it so far. I'm on my third playthrough right now, on Hard, Chapter 14. I'm planning to get all the achievements (which for me means beating the game on Hard and Infinite Climax) and, after that, there will still be an awful lot of things to collect.

I'm not sure I'll be up to doing this last part, I'm starting to have enough of Bayonetta. I can always farm some halos and use the cheats.  :afroman:

Best game of the generation. Until Sonic 4, of course.

I still haven't picked up the game again after completing it in Normal Mode(I want to get Lost Odyssey out of the way first).

But I want to try Easy Mode without being automatic.

That dance video is really great, by the way.

Finished it in normal hard and started to play it on infinite climax, almost 60 hours and still i have a lot of stuff to unlock    One of the best action games of this generation, and maybe ever. It was ages that i didn't have so much fun on trying to do different combos with different weapons, and the minigame to the end of the chapters is sooo 80's, love it!

I no longer like Barry, he likes Bentley, he goes to Sonic Stadium, does not want Vectorman in SARS (probably not Joe or Orta either!) and masturbates to Bayonetta.

I thought that Bayonetta is actually a game about glasses, so everyone should be wearing them! Hence the addition of Enzo’s (sun)glasses. Coming up with each and every character’s glasses was a secret source of enjoyment.

Well, the story isn't all that great, but the game's true assets from come the really good action and variety of.

For one thing, the game is great for the fact that even though bosses from previous stages appears as mid-level bosses, most of those fights are different. As it makes the game less repetitive that way.

Actually the storyline is quite good for an action game. Very American style comic booky in its "cosmic scale plot" and the semi twists with the main characters. Reminded me of those old 80's Xmen comics.

Makes more sense to use her (if they can get permission) in a Superstars game that would fit her. No point in just using her for the sake of it.

Odd since Bayonetta is the epitome of a classic japanese action game. They can't do that type of stuff over here only GOW has been the one to challenge the japanese in that field. They've got three or four good examples of action games all we have is Dante's inferno and other crap not wrothy of mentioning. The west has a lot to go in getting out more great action games.

Japan still wins out with Fighters and Platformers though.

It is too late, I already broke my headset over failing like ten times so I just beat the level. I already beat the game like two days ago anyway, it is just was replaying it and trying to find everything. I do want to try and get all of the achievements and extras though, so I will try that out later.

The hidden stuff is pretty cool, but it gets kind of lame how almost all of them are only reveled when you backtrack. Is there a list somewhere online where I can just view where to find them all?

Go to Xbox360Achievements.com and check their guide/forums. They usually have really good guides for hidden stuff, and it's the site I used to get the hidden stuff.

So, impressions? What did you think of it? Hope you liked it apart from headset breaking shenanigans!

It is one of my favorite games this generation, not really much I dislike about the game really. I think the QTEs in it are outright terrible usually (they should only be used for extra points, never life or death situations), some of the bosses are really overused (especially the ones with the long fingers), there are a couple of really cheap shots near the end and the story is... Just... No.

Otherwise, really really great! I kind of wish they expanded more on exploration and level gimmicks a bit more, but they had to save some room for a sequel!

[spoiler:3m0fitpt]Kamiya needs to play Ninja Gaiden on Xbox to realize you should be able to do attacks on the walls.[/spoiler:3m0fitpt]

Yeah, I think you fight him like four times. I mean, it is all in different contexts, but... Come on!

My biggest issue with the game is actually the marketing. I hate how every trailer and press release about the game makes everyone believe it is some kind of perverted wankfest, when it really could not be further from the truth. She is just a normal character that just happens to bend her legs over her head, total slut amirite?

To be honest, I think they should have tried to market it to women. I think this is like the first game I ever played with a female lead this confident and independant. Not only that, but the automatic modes make it possible for people who never even touched a game controller to be able to beat the game. Hugely missed opportunity, but hey, it is SEGA, we should have expected as much!

Anyways, why is it so hard to unlock Jeanne?!?

What do you have to do to unlock Jeanne anway? That's one thing I still haven't done.

As for the advertising and what Bayonetta is really like, I agree. It's annoying to see people dump on the game unfairly without playing it, when she's actually a really brilliant and funny character.
Title: Re: Let's Dance, Boys! - The Bayonetta Thread
Post by: Sega Uranus on February 23, 2010, 07:18:33 pm
To unlock Jeanne you need to get at least a Platinum rating on every level in Normal mode or higher. Like Orta said, you can also cheat, but that takes 1,000,000 halos anyways, so it takes a long time no matter what. The worst part is you need to start a whole new save file to use her.

I also missed the ice skate things and have no idea where they could be. I cannot even think of a game that has this many extras...

Getting halos isn't that hard. There are cheap tricks to do it. Example:

[youtube:1561weng]zRmYETHLvos[/youtube:1561weng]

[youtube:1561weng]qBxxla1wfuA[/youtube:1561weng]

Tip: use the train station secret to get enough halos to buy the weapons then farm away.

Is this "Gamerspeak" for you cannot beat games on hard mode and you tell people you are too hardcore to care?

Seriously though, I am not sure how anyone cannot at least care a little bit about achievements/trophies, they only add replay value to games. It is not like giving them to games make them any less of a game. What about the Higher and Higher or Touch It And It Will REALLY Hurt achievements? You do not think these add anything to the game.

Even Kamiya understands. That's what you call a true Sega fan. Playing with the logo has been around for so long and these days all we get is The Conduit and Iron Man 2. :(

I can see Sega's side. The reputation is pretty bad these days, with people everywhere saying "Sega is dead". A screenshot of a grave and their logo wouldn't help it at all.

Yeah, Sega on a headstone would be instant screengrab and post on forums to make a point bait.

A buddy of mine just bought Bayonetta on ebay for $30, "gently used".

Why used? Barry your friend is letting the side down, I hope you hit him harder than a crate of bananas!

Basically it was Bayonetta if Bayonetta was a man. Lots of shirtlessless and spanking.

Getting back to the actual game though, I've had a hankering to go back to it recently. Has anyone here got the Platinum Ticket, or beaten the Lost Chapter?
