horribly... awesome?
Hey, as long as the gameplay is great, and it offers solid online fun, I could care less about not up to par visuals.
-
Not sure what to think of this at all. I did not like MADWORLD and SEGA + Online rarely ever works out right anymore.
I think they already missed an opportunity by making it an all-SEGA character cast so people could stop bugging SUMO to do that. I am expecting Bayonetta to be playable though, mark my words.
EDIT: It reminds me of Heavy Metal Geomatrix, kind of. And that is not a good thing.

Jack and Platinum All-Stars Fighters has a nice ring to it. Toss in Sam and Bayonetta and I'm in!

I'll wait for some more info/in-game footage.

Sam is a terrible character. Burns would be alright (especially how he looked near the end of the game), but if this is just PlatinumGames characters I will be mad. It will make some older fans freak out in a bad way, but might as well put in some Yakuza and Streets of Rage characters [spoiler:3tv5d1yv]and ToeJam & Earl.[/spoiler:3tv5d1yv]

Burns reminded me a lot of Drachma from Skies of Arcadia.

If this is gonna be online only, it's going to live or die by the amount of players it can attract. Unfortunately I just don't know if there will be enough people online long enough to make this a hit. I hope it is though.
I also hope it's fun obviously.
If they do start putting in Sega cameos, I hope they are the complete opposite of Sumo and actually put in good, relevant characters. Or put in Billy Hatcher so we can chainsaw him in half repeatedly.
-
Actually this just reminds me of Sega's previous attempts of online brawlers, the port of SPIKEOUT and the sammy made IRON PHEONIX which some of the visuals look similar to. Sure it will improve with the final version released.
Thing is Sega doesn't have a good record on this type of game, publishing and marketing wise.

Yeah, SEGA is really looking at an uphill struggle here for a game not many people might actually care for in the end.
Iron Phoenix is a wonderful example, even recent releases like Chromehounds or even Aliens vs Predator shows that SEGA just does not have the right staff to maintain this kind of game at all. They would need a new group of people, and would that be worth just one game at the end of the day? Especially the same one on two platforms? I highly, highly doubt it.
The game might turn out great, but the whole fact of how big it seems to be could be a disaster waiting to happen, especially so soon. I am worried, very worried.

Unless they have more games planned down the line. I'm not sure who maintains Sega's online stuff anymore to be honest but you're right they haven't a strong record since after the DC era.
-
Yeah, I agree. SEGA has a WHOLE department for digital/online shit, but they don't do shit really.

"Hey guys, lets port that horrible Virtua Fighter 2 Genesis game to Android!"
-
Its the floor textures that need work... That was the excat same probelm with Vanquish too.
-
Sega only cares about the online mode in Phantasy Star series ;pp Even them have failed at the start (PSU on the PS2).
Oh no! I have had forgot completely about this Geomatrix thing... >_< Hope Sega/Platinum does a BETTER game here...

I don't understand how SEGA can make such a poor announcement of a game that for sure is really big and important for the company. Yesterday they posted 3 boring pictures where you can't see anything except a big ass and today only this short teaser trailer.

Hooray for 45 second doodle on my mobile phone.

Looks like crap.

This is not really giving a good first impression. Platinum making their first online game could have an interesting outcome though. Platinum always seems to be original with their products so who knows, maybe this'll turn out like a new online experience. I need to see some gameplay in actio before I decide what I think about this.
-
It's Bayonetta's ass man! ;PP
-
Ugh, the art is terrible. The textures are muddy and everything else, like the music can only help this obtain a very limited appeal.
I really appreciate, or rather am completely satisfied with how fast PlatinumGames can churn titles out, but sometimes maybe it is better to just think about what you are doing instead of just making something they want to play. This will not be an Iron Phoenix-level disaster, but it is going to be a mess, even if the game turns out great.
Although, SEGA does have a lot of online-enabled games coming out soon... Hopefully they will turn things around, but if literally last week was anything to go by, I am not expecting much.

Have not been disappointed with a platinum game, so I'm liking this.
