The first out of 4 Gameplay videos this week has been released:
Meet Sasha, the Ice Queen. She makes use of a weapon called "Snow Spikes," which can generate sharp ice crystals in an instant. Have a look at the character's introductory video clip, complete with our first actual gameplay footage of Anarchy Reigns, at Famitsu.com.

The gameplay looks awesome!

My opinion has definitely reversed for the positive. They nailed the feel of it perfectly. Action looks tight. These guys at Platinum just know how deliver a real video game..edgy, underground and unpretentious. Fuck Hollywood.
-
Looks awesome! Would love to team up with SEGAbits members online for some co-op to kick the asses of anonymous children.
-
Looks pretty cool.
-
Nice to see some gameplay, but it's not really enough to go off to get me excited just yet. Since it's the team that made Bayonetta I expect the gameplay for a beat em up to be no less than excellent.
-
wow the animation is really good for such a game.
but i wonder if she was fighting some CPU's in this video?
-
That was just some combos, barely counts as gameplay footage.
I liked the music there more than I thought I would, but the graphics really are awful from what I have seen.
-
I have to laugh at how today's gaming world deems something like that gameplay video as having "awful graphics". I think it looks quite good, definitely not awful in any way. I think people are just spoiled nowadays by the huge leap in graphics over the past few years. The muddy N64 ports on the Dreamcast, those were awful. Really, it's the gameplay that matters right? I hope folks still enjoy gameplay over graphics.
-
Get over yourself. Poor textures, terrible-looking hair and none of their faces even have animation. It has similar graphics to Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which is a downloadable title. I was not expecting Crysis 2-level graphics, but this looks graphically worse than Yakuza 3, which I pointed out had below-standard graphics in 2008, now we are in 2011.
That character even has the same base model as Bayonetta and some of her animations. Fairly lazy, considering what PlatinumGames usually is known for.

Same base model? Maybe, but Animations? That's not true, the stance animation is similar but its different when you look at it a second time.
Considering this is a "Massive Multiplayer Game", I can see why the graphics aren't up to bar with the previous PG games.
-
It is to be expected that an MMO game will have far worse graphics then an offline single player game, just look at something like Biowares Mass Effect 2 graphics and then look at their new Star Wars Old Republic MMO...
Old Republic looks so dated and ugly, even for an MMO I think it looks backwards.

IGN Uploaded the second video by mistake, Its for the Dual Sworded Ninja, Zero.
http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/01/31/an ... ctid=98770 (http://www.ign.com/videos/2011/01/31/anarchy-reigns-the-cyber-ninja?objectid=98770)
At the end, he gave off a strong Hotsuma vibe.
That's why I say PG should include Hotsuma as a guest character, he will really fit like a glove with the designs I saw in Anarchy Reigns.

Reminds me Alot of madworld.

Third Gameplay Footage and new playable character revealed: Big Bull, The Cyborg...
http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tExLouLlQfE&feature=player_embedded
Big Bull, the cyborg; a 31-year-old became a 2.88 meter tall 1.3 ton cyborg four years back. He uses the "Jet Hammer" as his weapon, so named because it usually serves as his jet propulsion system.(source, Andriasang.com)

You can play as that thing!?! I thought he was just a computer controlled enemy robot thing. The cast is very diverse, gives me a Power Stone vibe.
-
Barry I think so, today should be presented the fourth and final(?).

Double Chainsaw All the way!

Why don't they call it MadWorld, I haven't played either game but I do sense over the top violent death match?
-
Could be in the MadWorld universe, but its a completely different game on a different platform. Sorta like how Cannon Spike was a multi-directional shooter yet had characters from platformers and fighters.
What I'm wondering is what other characters can we expect? I'm hoping for a large roster, as it would be lame to have 8 characters and lots of recolors.
-
Yeah, it would be strange if these were the only playable characters. I would be shocked if that were the case.
PlatinumGames is really good at making nothing happening look interesting. Literally all of the videos are just basic combos, but it still remains interesting enough to get people excited.
I am wondering if there is anything to the game besides fighting, MADWORLD was light on platforming and puzzles and it might even be less so here because the focus is entirely on multiplayer stuff.
The most under appreciated part of Bayonetta was the platforming elements where you had to pick up the keys and stuff, especially in the "Heaven" level. I hope this game has sections like that.
-
The platforming in bayonetta was amazing. I agree with what you said Uranus, though this anarchy game looks nothing like bayonetta. It looks to have more in common with Madworld with maybe a better combo system.
I like how it looks but as of now it looks like it might turn into another flop; unless they put a bayonetta and max(from vanquish) in there to attract the consumers.
-
I post here because the messages and video are more numerous, but I suggest to merge the topic with the other by Joe;)
