HOUSE OF THE DEAD ~SCARLET DAWN~ (2018)

Quote
SEGA Interactive has just announced House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn for arcades. They have confirmed that there will be location testing from January 19 to the 21st at SEGA Akihabara Building 3 in Tokyo, Japan. This release will mark a return of the franchise to the Arcades, the last main entry being The House of the Dead 4 back in 2005. In 2009 we got the console exclusive The House of the Dead: Overkill, which was meant to be a prequel and had a different take on the series.

House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn is confirmed to be running on Unreal Engine 4 and has confirmed it will get a theater-style deluxe arcade cabinet which will have vibrating seats. The cabinet will also use motion sensors. Who knows, maybe if VR catches on, SEGA can have a easy port on their hands.

HOTD Director, Takashi Oda, on the series and wants to produce 3 more games

Quote
In a recent interview uploaded on SEGA Interactive’s official website, the company interviewed The House of the Dead series director, Takashi Oda, on his life history as a junior high school student to his current role at SEGA in Japan.
The few interesting tidbits within the interview is that Oda-san would love to continue making at least 3 more House of the Dead titles in the future, including a House of the Dead FPS to give players enough freedom to walk around stages if there was enough demand.

A significant finance deal has been introduced by Sega to help bring visitors back to arcades and FECs.
Said CEO Paul Williams: “The scheme permits operators to choose the games they want on 0% APR for 36 months on top of the 90 days deferred payments, giving them peace of mind when managing cash flow.”
The deal is available on the House of the Dead ~Scarlet Dawn~, Transformers Shadows Rising games, ATV Slam, and Storm Racer

SEGA leaves Japanese arcade management business

Quote
SEGA has basically, mostly, sold off its Arcade arcade business to GENDA, a company founded in 2018 to operate arcade rentals, online crane games.
I know its mostly a Japanese thing, but SEGA’s arcade business has been part of its history almost since the start and having them sell off 85% of the shares on the companies 60th Anniversary is a bit bitter.

SEGA Arcade Centers Will Still Be Named SEGA After GENDA Handover

Quote
"The existing names of each store will be carried over even after the transfer of stocks.
Although the stores will be managed under a new administration, customers will still be able to continue patronage as usual."

No visit to IAAPA will ever be complete without a trip to SEGA's Amazing Booth
But unfortunately this year IAAPA Cancels IAAPA Expo 2020 Due to COVID-19

Quote
“While we are disappointed we are unable to meet in-person this year, we are already looking ahead to IAAPA Expo 2021 in Orlando,” McEvoy continued,
“We also appreciate the patience, support and commitment from our dedicated IAAPA Expo exhibitors.
The IAAPA team has already pivoted to address finding new ways industry manufacturers and suppliers can connect with their customers to promote their products, discover new trends, and make plans for the future.”

Sega Amusements International CEO : "Sega restructuring will not affect US/Europe"

Quote
The restructuring of the Sega group in Japan will not impact Sega Amusements International, says CEO Paul Williams.
The Japanese parent company is restructuring as a result of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, but it will not affect the sales forces in the UK and US.
“We are continuing to develop new games, in association with our colleagues in Japan,” said Williams

Sega Entertainment Said Goodbye Uniquely Like a Retiring Idol Singer
and Their Account Has Now Been Renamed Into "Sega no Omise" (“Sega Shops”)

Quote
Sega Entertainment has a unique way to say goodbye, but unfortunately for them not everyone understood the message or appreciated the attempt at comedy with reactions from Japanese Twitter users including: “This is an important announcement, so it’d be nice if you were a little clearer.”.
It looks like Sega Entertainment overestimated how many people had been keeping up with its ownership status and so felt that directly explaining the stock transfer wasn’t necessary.
On the other hand, some people got the joke and saw it as in keeping with Sega’s focus on fun and entertainment.

I would love to have a go in this machine. But I haven't been to an Arcade (one that isn't mostly gambling machines) in years. And given with how crappy 2020 was for everyone I doubt I'd find one still in business anytime soon.

Andamiro Unveils Standard Upright Model For House of the Dead Scarlet Dawn

Quote
In a post-pandemic world, it makes sense to me to offer some smaller/more affordable editions of the same games.
Granted, I’m a fan of choices anyways – I just don’t have the space to get every game as an environmental cabinet, so I really hope that we can see a return of the upright cabinet here in 2021 and beyond.

It's cool and all but.. who'll get to play it? Epidemic and all.

And in britain, I never been to an arcade that wasn't 85% gambling machines. So I doubt the Amusement arcade down by where I live, that has the three arcades from early 20'00, will ever be getting such a sweet game anytime soon.

Understandable, the article said that it's most likely just for South Korean (and probably Asian) market :

Quote
I did check with someone at Sega UK about it –
they stated that they do not know of any plans for this model to be headed out West,
so it’s entirely a special model that you’ll just find in South Korea for now.

In Asia, arcade centers has operated again since last semester.
And Arcade centers near my place has opened again too.
Not as crowded as before, but at least there are always visitors (mostly children now, not teenager as before).
They put many hand sanitizer every few meters and gave us plastic gloves too.
Gambling machines were prohibited here so I guess the situation's rather different than in Britain.
