The story itself is nothing incredible. In fact, it's really quite old fashioned, but I think it shines in the way it tells it and through its characters.

It's definitely the kind of game that rewards patience and curiosity. You can blast through the main story as fast as possible, in which case perhaps it's a rather standard revenge story (at least at first), but it reveals layer upon layer of depth if you take the time to talk to every character repeatedly. In that way, it creates a sense of place(s) that few other games have achieved. I also think it has more of a realistic (though still fun and video gamelike) depiction of martial arts than any other fighting game.

It is also important to note that your funds are going strictly to Ys Net for development of Shenmue 3 – Sony and Shibuya Productions are not seeing a cent of your Kickstarter dollars.

This is really important to know! Glad that he said it so simply that people won't misinterpret it.

Even if these Stretch Goals are not reached, Shenmue 3 will already be a sequel true to its name, and one we can all be proud of. It is my hope though, that together we can make this Shenmue just as revolutionary as the first two were.

I hope this is also true. I don't want to get a super-gimped Shenmue III

I've always considered the Shenmue series to be the martial arts movie that I always wanted to play. It draws me in similar to movies starring Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Tony Jaa.

Yeah, Dimension Drive. They did get a second Kickstarter that was successful, no doubt due to the extra coverage of the first drive. I'm a bit scared that something like that could happen to Shenmue 3 though, cause people can pull their funds at the last minute just to troll the fanbase.

There's nothing stopping Yu Suzuki from adding extra features as paid DLC.
