I'm sure there's many heroes with stretchy arms out there.

Yeah, but in video games Dhalsim is the most famous.
Even his toys came up with stretchy hands variant.

They could've released a toy of him with Stretch Arm Strong like arms!

Yeah. I never saw Ristar toys (other than the official pin badge).
Do they exist?
Even the custom and fanmade ones, they never have the stretchy arms.

I rarely see any franchise with more than one game last long enough for merchandising, so I doubt there's any Ristar toys out there.

Though Ristar with corn syrup stretchy arms would be cool.

Yeah but sometimes there's an exception.
For example Skies of Arcadia only has one game (not counting port) but it managed to get merchs.

True, but that's because it was an RPG, they tend to have big stories and advance gameplay. Ristar only had a bit of story and decent platformer gameplay.

I think it's also more about on the characters for figures / merchs.
RPG has richer characters (both on quantity and development) compared to platformer.

Yeah, maybe if Ristar had more than one game then despite it's cartoon like design it could have been more marketable.

I mean, I have a feeling Ristar was supposed to be Sega's answer to Kirby at the time.

This is why I wish Sega were more intuitive over their IPs. Kirby is older than Ristar but still around.

Kirby also has many other interesting characters such as Meta Knight, Bandana Waddle Dee, and King Dedede.
Ristar doesn't have any memorable one other than himself.
May be if the game has a sequel it could introduce more characters but sadly there was none.

The Original Version Of Columns For The HP-UX Has Just Been Found

Quote
Most people will probably know of Columns from Sega's versions of the game — which have since been reissued across various compilations and mini consoles — but the title actually has an interesting history that predates those releases.
It was originally designed by Jay Geersten for the HP-UX operating system while working at Hewlett Packard in 1989, who later gave his source code to various other developers to produce additional versions for MS-DOS, Atari ST, Macintosh, and Windows 3.x.
In the past, Geersten's original HP-UX version of the game was considered to be lost media, but yesterday, the video game collector @TrevgauntletNeu announced that they had found the original title and had managed to get it working in MAME. They've since shared ...

But what pisses me off is that he could of! If he had more than one game, new characters could've been introduced and expanded upon.

For example, some of the chharacters from the first game could be expanded upon, such as Planet Flora's elder or Ristars parents.

Yes, unfortunately the sales weren't that good since it has to compete not just with 16-bit games such as Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Donkey Kong Country 2 but also with many 32-bit games such as ...

If only it was released three years earlier.
