Well its a Japanese interview and Sega has been following that strategy with bigger titles in addition to mobile.

Unreal 4 digital download titles could be pretty good. Say OutRun 3, heck yeah

I'm surprised they haven't tried to make another SEGA All-Stars Racing game. Many (including myself) thought that was on par if not better, than the last Mario Kart. Did it not sell well?

This is why I'm not worried about games like Sonic going mobile only. Only a problem with smaller series.

It's also why I'm holding out hope for a new VF.

You forgot about Persona, Total War and Company of Heroes!

(Company of Heroes 2 is at 1,441,946 and Rome II is at 1,958,522 according to Steamspy.)

They definitely need to up how big their Japanese games are in the West and I feel Phantasy Star Online 2 would have been massive but what can you do.
You are right, but does Persona and Total War have SEGA DNA?

It's also why I'm holding out hope for a new VF.
Coming soon for iOS.

I'm sure a Virtua Fighter would happen just because it's the premier arcade series for SEGA. Just not sure why it's taking them so long, I'm sure it'd make more money for them than any of the Hatsune Miku titles.

Sold as well as the last one but I guess Sonic Boom took precedent over other Sonic titles? SEGA of America wanted to have their own brand to mess around with so SEGA Japan allowed them to do what they want with Sonic Boom.

What if... SEGA has Creative Assembly DNA ALL ALONG?!

Let's not start this in this thread. It always ends in tears and laughter.

That's the whole thing, you can't build prestige with phone junk. They would need to release a real game to keep the series in good value, then release the skinner boxes.

It's Sega's bread and butter now.
(I hate it too).

ALSO: Controlling other characters!?
This is so intriguing.

Quote
-- I get it (laugh). Could you explain the 5 million dollar stretch goal; the character perspective system?
YS: That is where the player will take control of characters like Shenhua and Ren instead of Ryo.

-- At a certain point in the game will we be able to change characters freely?
YS: I can’t talk about details yet, so I will just say that it’s not necessarily like we are letting you control the other characters exactly like Ryo.

-- So it’s not like you can just change characters at will.
YS: The personality of Ren and Shenhua is different from Ryo, so even if they see the same thing the reactions would be different. When you played as Ryo it was his decisions, but playing as Ren and Shenhua would make it very interesting.[/size]

For VF I remember reading that the criteria for a sixth game needs is to provide something new in graphics or network technology, and that time has not come yet. Obviously VF1-3 broke ground in grapchis, but for the rest, VF4 was the very fist internet arcade games (big deal in Japan), VF5 was the HD game.

Why can't Sega be this gentle with Sonic? Maybe the mobile will help with that...

Even Suzuki is disappointed in Sega (and by extension Aki-at and Crackdude)

-- It’s not like you totally left the game industry, but what do you think of the game industry in Japan looking from a bit afar.
YS: The game engine Unity came out and made it easy for just one person to make his own game, which is a good thing. It wouldn’t be healthy if only big budget games were able to survive. It’s good that the market has expanded with more alternatives. But it’s kind of sad that a majority of games that make money are small like games for smartphones.

Well he said majority, clearly he just wants to have EVERY type of game with equal footing.

We are interpreting the scriptures differently, this is how the Great Schism happened!

No we're not:

YS: It’s not like games for smartphones are necessarily bad, but what’s characteristic of smartphone game making is that the development cycles from start to finished tend to be fast.

Since Chain Chronicle is bigger in scope than most mobile games Yu Suzuki clearly is happy with SEGA creating titles like it, Chaos Dragon, Hortensia Saga etc please try harder next time mang.

(Also Smash? I don't even have to move the controller and I'd probably still beat you.)

I had a rebuttal, but I don't want to get into this on this thread, this is for Shenmue not my prejudice against cat-girls.

Tournament Rules:
No items, no controllers, only CRT, fox only, Final Destination.

Getting back to Shenmue, what do you think the battle event will be? 70 man battle like the first game equivalent?

Remember in the unused footage we saw lots of monks training for battles. I wonder if there's going to be fights with them or training? I really would like to see one teach Ryo some drunken Kung Fu.
