I don't mind not reaching the desired goals. Just having Shenmue III is good enough :)

The way people are freaking out, you'd think all we're getting is a title screen followed by a brief text synopsis.

Don't be absurd...that's what the first million will pay for ;)

I haven't actually seen much freaking out myself, but then I'm not on the Shenmue dojo etc. The fans need to dampen their expectations either way. Even if it did reach the top goals, the wait and hype was never going to live up to it. I'm sure it'll be a good game regardless. Just got to wait now...again..

Yep, Shenmue is the underdog again. It's not the best, but it's the best they got.
It's kind of heartwarming, Yu Suzuki just going it alone, despite being bogged down by a terrible campaign the fans are still supporting him and fighting for him.

Yeah, but the campaign is only "terrible" in comparison with what the ultrafans expect and believe to be possible. Back in the realm of objective reality, it's one of the most successful Kickstarter campaigns of all time.

It's terrible in comparison to other Kickstarters.
It's made money, but did you see the twitch interview? Potato quality footage and audio, mixed with someone doing the interview and asking questions who should not be allowed near a microphone.

Not to mention, everything looks very cheap and poorly made on the page itself.

EDIT:
AND, poor communication in general (poor linking for the reddit AMA for example), badly handled transmission of information regarding the funding.

The stretch goals are badly organised (Why is Portugese Subtitles a fucking stretch goal so high compared to the others? Why is it above important gameplay aspects like Rapport System?).

The explanation of how the stretch goals will affect the game are bad too. And the way they are situated means we'll probably get one village with tons of stuff to do and the others will be barebones.

ALSO the tiers were poorly made, a jump of $200 for extra capsule toys, a jump from $500 to $3000 etc.

This was a bad campaign, it's succeeding DESPITE it, not because of it.

A NAÇÃO SUPERIOR

Heróis do mar, nobre povo,
Nação valente, imortal,
Levantai hoje de novo
O esplendor de Portugal!
Entre as brumas da memória,
Ó Pátria, sente-se a voz
Dos teus egrégios avós,
Que há-de guiar-te à vitória!

Às armas, às armas!
Sobre a terra, sobre o mar,
Às armas, às armas!
Pela Pátria lutar!
Contra os canhões, marchar, marchar!

I know you feel that way, but that's really a matter of conjecture... like I said, objectively, it's a record-setting success. That's simply a fact.

So Corey Marshall will be back for Shenmue III

It's time to celebrate bad voice-acting again and bad dialogue once more.

For me, his voice fitted Ryo perfectly. I think the dodgy script was to blame more then anything last time.

No the voice acting was terrible and this is a silly move and only add to the cost along with getting the Japanese voice actors

You can't have the game just in Japanese. And the only time Corey's voice sounded weird was when he'd say something off. Something you wouldn't say in that way. That's poor scripting/translations.

The whole "Japanese version was better" myth has been going around for years in TV, anime and games. It's utter BS.

Anyway, they've done some work of Shen Hua's model: https://twitter.com/yu_suzuki_jp/status/616396498394181632?s=09
