Who finds cute guys hot? Pretty much every girl who's ever hit on me, for one. :P I'm also emotionally solid and protective, even if I'm not Rambo.

See, I never said that being effeminate makes a guy a "real man". I was talking about a gradual relaxing of gender stereotypes (key word being "gradual"). I personally think that manhood is proven things such as responsibility and intellect, and not by trivial things like whether or not a man prefers collecting rifles or stuffed animals.

You guys proclaim that being a regular low-browed douchebag makes someone a "real man", although I'm sure most of you are just flexing ironic humor with this thread. It's terrible to think that some of you are serious about it. xD

For me, an ideal society would be one where the masculine and the feminine are not at all rigidly defined. Just imagine: folks like George would never have to be insecure about shaving their facial hair again. Really, everybody wins.

What are you talking about? Collecting stuffed animals is a girl thing.
Think the other way around. Do you think it's normal for a girl to collect rifles? Of course not. It is absolutely normal that there are different standards for man and women. Because man and women are different.

So while a real man does not enjoy women things, one can be responsible and intellectual as well. You must be trolling, otherwise I really pity your mentality on this subject.

For you an ideal society would be filled with homo gay sex, sparkling vampire wimps and fabulous pink city cabs, so I'm not sure where your comment is really aiming at..
But seriously talking: it has never been such society and never will be. Women and man are different. We enjoy different things, have different brain/physical functionality and capabilities, have different bodies, have different clothing, have different habits, have different ways of living.
You take away the (little) definition there still is nowdays and you get a even more confused society.

I remember you (or someone) talking so eagerly about how homosexual behavior in animals "proving" that it was a normal thing. Funny how suddenly the humans should be the only ones with the same roles for males and females.

I don't believe humans are "just animals", but I'm just throwing out a valid argument that was used against me before.

Speaking of John Wayne, this remake of one of his movies looks awesome

And it seems I underestimated fluffy, he riled up this thread good and proper! It's been relatively civil though, so just make sure to keep it at a low roar you guys, some of us are trying to sleep!

Of course I can think the other way around. By all means, it is perfectly fine to me if a woman wants to collect rifles. It's just a hobby, and so long as she is responsible with them, it won't hurt anything.

For what, choosing not to be narrow-minded in my views?

For me, an ideal society would be one where people are free to be who they want to be, and people don't mind or treat them with adversity.

Well, just so long as they aren't actually harming someone else, of course. No axe murderers running around on the streets or whatever. :P

Oh really? How well would you say that a woman's brain functions in comparison to a man's, then?

What you'd actually get is one increasingly less paranoid of diversity and less fearful of change.

(Or in other words, Fox News Channel's worst nightmare.)

That was not me. I believe that may have been Emmet.

We have evolved an intellect that is superior to other animals. Do you care to use yours?

We've all had a bit of a laugh at stereotypes in this thread, but honestly I think the definition of a 'real man' runs deeper than what they look like and their physical attributes etc. I think as long as they are honest, willing to put in hard work and look out for their friends and loved ones then someone is a "Real Man". Whether they wear a coon-skin cap or a pink t-shirt.

"We have evolved an intellect that is superior to other animals. Do you care to use yours?"
Do I have to deal with this kindergarten bullshit to have a decent discussion with you?

Man and women have different brain capabilities, fact. A while ago I read about how man were better with spatial recognition (why man are better at sports) and women have better memory (how they can remember how to make a sandwich without burning down the kitchen), for example.
Brain functions != intelligence.

If even with social roles people often get confused and aimlessly try to copy eachothers actions, imagine a world where everyone did whatever the fuck they wanted to (even without endangering others). People get confused easily, that's why ALL of us follow ideals. Liberal or conservative, we all have ideals and stick to them. If someone thinks they're totally liberal and every social rule is bullshit, he's just another one mindlessly following liberal ideals. It's human nature to do so.
So while I have no formed opinion on your ideal society, I do not believe it would work at all.

Thing is you just love being different. You love getting people mad over it. I could also go on and on about how people like you like to cry for attention. But I should know better. And so should you, and stop criticizing other one's life styles.

People also have the ability to CHOOSE to conform to social standards. I am as liberal of doing what I want as you are. And I love being manly and crack opening bears and shit.

EDIT:
I also agree that being a "real man" is much more than appearance alone. I don't know if that was transparent in my posts..

Thanks, MadeMan. That's pretty much what I was trying to say.

Well, I'm ready to go to sleep now, so no more unnecessarily long debates for me. Continue on with the silly posts. =P

All I can tell you is that real men don't do the things fluffy says or wants. This isn't a new world, it's a world in fluffy's head where Halo is a bad game, having tastes amounts to horribly drawn Japanese comics and a bunch of other odd things.

Just sayin'

Human males are natural gatherers (any kind of support counts, usually some form of labor), human females are natural nurturers... I mean, unless you want to say all pregnant woman should have a hard labor job. Of course not everything is set in stone, but a real man would not be such a bitch about this.

Actually, I had been awake for around 24 hours, my head hurt, and most importantly, I was upset at myself for wasting so much time on another meaningless forum argument that could never amount to anything better than bittersweet feelings in the end.

...Not that I expected you to be psychic and know how I was feeling, of course. =P
