Panzer Dragoon games
« on: May 20, 2017, 04:46:02 pm »
With Panzer Dragoon appearing in the list of top Sega IPs to possibly return, it's possible we will see a new game from the series like Virtua On.  if so, do you think the older titles become available digitally or in some sort of collection?  Also do you think a new Panzer Dragoon would be arcade shooter or RPG or something new entirely?

I'd take anything. I thought Orta was excellent, although it was a shift back to an action game after the RPG. Even an open world game would probably work well, as the lore of PD is so well-realized. A collection would be nice, although the rumor that the source code has been lost would mean that they'd be limited to some sort of emulation and couldn't really be remastered as thoroughly as if they had the original code.

Didn't Orta have the original game too?

It had the PC port yeah, but that wasn't has good as the Saturn version. I think the series should be left alone myself . But if SEGA were to go back to it, then it would have to be a RPG . The market just isn't there for an AAA high budget on-rails shooter. SEGA could try and remake the 1st Saga (don't give the Source code bull) with current gen graphics and really test the water to see if they could make a Saga II.

Tbh I rather see SEGA make a sequel to something like Binary Domain or Skies II in today market. Don't think there's a market for Panzer sadly
Panzer Dragoon Zwei is
One of the best 3D shooting games available
Presented for your pleasure

Personally, I'd love a compilation for the Nintendo Switch. Panzer Dragoon, Zwei and Orta on the go is something really tempting for me.

Happy 23 Years Anniversary for Panzer Dragoon Saga !

Quote
Panzer Dragoon Saga is a critically-acclaimed role-playing game released exclusively for the Sega Saturn on April 30, 1998.
Chronologically, Panzer Dragoon Saga's story is the third in sequence.
It takes place after Panzer Dragoon Zwei and the original Panzer Dragoon, but before Panzer Dragoon Orta.

SEGA has released their latest financial report for fiscal year March 2021, which reads as an English language PDF you can view for yourself here.
There is a lot to sift through here, and we hope to have another article breaking the report down soon, but of interest to fans of SEGA’s past titles there is an interesting slide.

Forever Entertainment, developer behind Panzer Dragoon Remake enters publishing deal with Nintendo

Quote
Forever Entertainment who has recently released the first Panzer Dragoon Remake (working on the sequel) and are currently working on The House of the Dead Remake, has announced that they have signed a publishing deal with Nintendo.
I think the saddest part is that SEGA didn’t sign a publishing deal with a developer that is literally reviving their older franchises.
What’s up with that?
