Trizeal (Dreamcast) - English Fan Translation v1.0

Quote
Nobody asked for it, but here it is anyway! Proud to release v1.0 of my English translation patch for the SEGA Dreamcast game "Trizeal".
A lot more work went into this game's patch development than I originally anticipated.
Not only did I implement a half-width font hack for text, but I also implemented an in-game button combo for toggling unlimited continues on and off (a brand new feature of this patch, obviously).
For other details about the patch, please check the GitHub project page.

Sonic Superstars Officially Takes Place Before Sonic Adventure

Quote
"The Classic series began with Sonic 1 in 1991, and Sonic Adventure marked the switch to the Modern series in 1998," says Iizuka. "So in terms of the Sonic timeline, Sonic Superstars occurs after Sonic Mania and before Sonic Adventure. Whenever we develop a new game, we always make sure the story fits with the lore."
However, when you look at previous comments on the Sonic timeline, it gets a little confusing. Classic Sonic as a character is the same person as Modern Sonic, just, well, from the past. Then, Mania takes place after Generations, but not before Classic Sonic had gone through Adventure, and become Modern Sonic. Keeping up? So, that would mean that Sonic in ...

Footage Of Cancelled Dreamcast RPG 'Metal Max: Wild Eyes' Discovered

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ius0ilMbz7Q

Quote
The video shows more of the ambitious title, which was intended to be the first entry in the Metal Max series to feature 3D graphics and was reportedly inspired by the MMORPG Everquest. This includes a look at a previously unseen dungeon and an FMV of the main character entering a vehicle. From what we were able to gather, the game was originally scheduled for a Winter 2000 release but was dropped due to both its scope and the decision by its publisher ASCII to withdraw from the home video game business. As a result, the next game in the series was 2003's Metal Max 2 Kai, an enhanced rerelease of ...

This Sega Saturn-Inspired Anbernic Handheld Can Play Dreamcast Games

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd3LtCHE1Fg

Quote
Drawing cues from the Sega Saturn controller, the RG ARC has a horizontal form factor with six action buttons laid out in a 3 x 2 configuration, a D-pad, and shoulder buttons. Most important of all, its quad-core 64-bit chipset can run old-school games up to the Dreamcast! The DREAMCAST. The lack of an analog stick might make some 3D Dreamcast games impossible to play, but Marvel vs. Capcom 2? A breeze!
There are actually two versions of the RG ARC: the RG ARC-D (for Dual OS with Android 11 and Linux) and RG ARC-S (single OS with Linux only). Both have the same ...

That looks brilliant. It's almost exactly how I imagined the successor to the Game Gear and Nomad would look.

It's really beautiful. I really love the six buttons on the front. Most handhelds only have four.

I wish Sega would endorse it. I mean obviously it can't compete with the Switch but imagine playing Dreamcast games on the go!

I mean, if Sega ever did decide to make a brand-new console, I imagine it would be a small form factor gaming computer than a full console. Maybe have an eShop of its own while still remaining multi-platform.

It's hard to endorse since most of who played it would use it to play pirated games in form of roms and ISOs. It's like supporting piracy.

Well the very least, it would had been cool if they endorse the device itself and included a series of online purchasable games or something of the like. I dunno, would be nice if Sega could make hardware more often.

I'm sure they already considered it and did the calculation but deemed the costs weren't worth it and if they wanted to make profit of it, the price was considered to expensive to market.
Just like what's happened with Dreamcast Mini.

Well, given how they handled exporting some Dreamcast games to PC (IE Sonic Adventure being a mess), it's understandable the struggles of porting them to handheld or emulator.

For example, they could make the PC version of Sonic Adventure a game fixed into a handheld device and we wouldn't be able to fix it.

Yeah, porting is tricky. I remember two SEGA Saturn games (Cotton 2 and Cotton Boomerang) which were ported to modern system got many critique since they have 10 or so frames of lag between input (it may not noticable for non shmups fans). Some genres may handle a little input lag better than others, but shmups certainly aren't one of them.
