Yeah its just... I dunno. Maybe I put Sega on a pedestal too much, or maybe rose-tinted glasses where I feel like I remmeber Sega was at their zenith before Sammy when it truth perhaps they were no better than before? I dunno. I believe Sega can do more if it wanted to but what we currently have is probably the best Sega can do over whenever they want to or not.
Like, I believe Sega won't make sequels over their IPs because they won't when maybe they just can't? I remember when Sega made big risk for big rewards and it paid off well... up until Saturn and Dreamcast.

Many interviews back then said that although SEGA was good at inovation and idea, they're kinda suck at managing money.
They invested money into so much things that had no return in investment. They're burning money a lotjust for R&D.
Sammy is the other way around. They didn't inovate much in term of harware/software (pachislot, so it's expected) but they're very good at managing money.
It was really a good fit at that time.

I wonder if Sonic Speed Sim is setting up fo a Santa's Workshop themed Christmas update given these toy-themed pets.

But if they won't bother with the return of Pumpkin Hill for Halloween, I doubt it's worth my while for Christmas.

Yes, wouldn't expect much for Christmas.

I wonder how well she would get along with a Shinobi anode/cathode?

I guess. But Sega were high-risk,-high-reward in the past and it really paid off in the past.
The Mega Drive for example was meant solely to compete with the NES. Either Sega knew the SNES was on the way or they didn't, which made it even more impressive the Mega Drive fought well against the SNES.
Then someone on Sega said, "Hey! Why don't we built-in a free game in the Mega Drive II?" and that paid off well in marketing also.

Now days, Sega mostly just sit on their thumbs and IPs. I was hoping the "Sega Renaissance" we had (when third-party developers started remaking games for them) would have lasted longer but it seemed to have died down now.
Yes, wouldn't expect much for Christmas.
Agreed.

"Get one. Consume us!"

Same like what's always happened when a ninja meets another ninja ... a sense of rivalry.

You got to remember that SEGA is a Japan company.
Mega Drive was indeed a success, but not in Japan.
In Japan, SEGA was the king of arcades.
Before Saturn came along, most people knows SEGA there from arcades, UFO catchers, and amusement.
Take example from one of their most succesful one ... their colaboration with Atlus : Purikura

It was so successful it became a culture, not just a hype and wide phenomenon.
Most of their success in Japan was from innovation instead of milking old IPs.
Their most succesful console in Japan, SEGA Saturn, had very few old IPs too.

I'd rather not.

A battle to the death! A sexy battle to the death!

So now that Sega no longer make international consoles... they're just safe and boring?

Boring is relative.
The market is changing now.
Back then online gaming and gameplay videos didn't exist so it's exciting to go outside to see what's new games out there and fight against strangers.
Nowadays we could do that without having to leave our room.
For example I do enjoy all-new online battle royale mode—World Party in Samba de Amigo Party Central.
It wasn't boring at all.

Angry Hedgehogs on the Way? Rovio and SEGA Tease Upcoming Crossovers and Games at RovioCon 2023

Quote
"We're still dating."
That is the metaphor Shuji Utsumi (SEGA President of Consumer Games) and Ben Mattes (Rovio brand SVP) jokingly went with at RovioCon 2023 to tease the possibility (though not immediacy) of upcoming Rovio collaborations and games following their recent acquisition by SEGA, as reported by Mobidictum.
mobilegamer.biz reports a slightly more gung-ho take on Utsumi and Mattes' dating joke, suggesting that Rovio may have a Sonic crossover coming soon, and is working with SEGA on new games. Utsumi cites other SEGA IP that could see benefit from this mobile push, such as Yakuza or Persona. This would be part of Rovio and SEGA's larger transmedia strategy with...

The Creative Assembly will focus more on offline real-time strategy games following cancellation of Hyenas

Quote
SEGA CFO and Koichi Fukazawa stated: "To put it simply, Creative Assembly was good at offline games in the RTS genre, but they took on the challenge of developing Hyenas, an online game in the FPS genre. However, although the game itself was good, we decided to cancel the development of Hyenas because we did not think it would reach a quality that would satisfy our users when we considered whether we could really operate this as a competitive online game for a long period of time."
While this might come as a blow to fans of games like Alien: Isolation, based on our own experiences with ...
