The evolution of the palmtree AM2 logo
« on: May 08, 2015, 11:21:22 am »
Or rather legal name changes

In the beginning one thought that their corporate AMUSEMENT MACHINE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT DAPARTMENT NUMBER 2 name was cool enough to be turned into it's own logo:

You saw the palmtree beginning with the Model2/Saturn Era on Virtua Fighter 2 and Daytona USA on arcade flyers and japanese packaging.

But then in 2000, the LIMITED (Ltd.) INCORPORATED (Inc.) and COMPANY (Co.) monikers got stuck on Sega's developers, making them independent companies, most studios got name changes...but AM2 stayed the same with a reflective legal name change

But since 2004, the team is in the SEGA HQ again....after being called AM R&D #2 again it is and now called R&D2 since 2009:

How does it look now, well, I spotted this:

Hard to make out; but it says: R&D Division #2

I do love the logo and I'm really glad it hasn't been changed significantly over the years.
