So far, from what we've seen, Nagoshi is the only man at Sega to convert his 2 Arcade game concepts, Monkey Ball and Spikeout, into fully fledged retail series. Those being Super Monkey Ball turning into an entire Series, and the Street-thug type of setting and fighting from Spikeout turning into Yakuza.

There however many more games that could use this treatment...even ones that have'nt released on consoles, Spikeout was one for example. For reference here this picture: http://img.techpowerup.org/130419/311mah1%20(1).jpg (for games that haven't been ported)

I think stuff like Border Break/Virtual-ON/Outrigger could make fun singleplayer campaigns as well.
Or an Outrun turned into an RPG.
After Burner flight simulator, that is crazy fast all the time?
Sega also developed plenty of alternative vehicle games outside of the ordinary car game. Fully passengers open-world game like Crazy Taxi or Emergency Call Ambulance.
Or that Sci-fi stuff like Psy-Phi/Space Harrier, turning into huge Jetpack simulators with all kinds of projectiles.
etc. etc.

I think Sega is sitting on a bunch of concepts.

Ollie King, Rambo, Virtua Striker 4...

There are so many great arcade Sega games that deserved home ports...

What about Wild Riders? A fully fledged game about biker cop chases would have been fun.

I always enjoyed scud race in the arcades, I'm pretty sure there was supposed to be a home port of emergency call ambulance for the dreamcast but it got cancelled.

Not sure how good you can emulate any of these games?

I could definitely see Crazy Taxi being expanded upon.  I think they tried to do the multiplayer aspect with Fare Wars, not sure how well that turned out.  But I could imagine something on the scale of the city from Burnout Paradise with 16 crazy taxi drivers battling it out.  There could be different locations to go to if you want to do Crazy Box games.  And you could just have races, but with the crazy hop it would add a unique element.  Throw in a full livery editor so people could customize their cabs, and shops to purchase different helpful equipment... woyy yeah

IMO, Crazy Taxi did get fleshed out: It did have 3 games & a GBA port, which is something most SEGA series don't get.

I get what you said, but they have still not released a new Crazy Taxi game in over five years. It's time for them to release a new one. If not Crazy Taxi, then at least release an older game that Sega has forgotten about. I miss the older games. I like some of the new ones too, but it just brings back memories and enhances them when Sega releases games that are based off of older ones.

Must be why everyone loves Kid Icarus Uprising so much. =P

Well... first of all, After Burner is a full game.  But to make it more of a console-style game that still has an arcade feel...

Start with a large world map with many distinct regions and many bases to begin from (including the Sega Enterprise air craft carrier, of course, but many others too). The regions are not only geographical features but also correspond to altitude, so in any given region there are events that could occur depending on whether you're flying low to the ground, above the clouds, or in between. 

The player accepts a mission objective from a list of several to choose from at any time.  Each mission has several secondary objectives and one main goal.  The objective is usually several regions away on the map, so the player has some choices about how to get there and possibly some incentive, like temporary power-ups as well as long-term XP) that can be gained depending on which regions they go through. 

Within each region are challenges that are similar to what we're used to in After Burner -- enemies flying in formations, with the goal of maximizing score and staying alive.  The big difference is that you're not on rails -- you can turn in any direction.  Still, you'll max out your score by taking out an entire formation in one go rather than piece by piece.  Bosses would include giant flying fortresses and bases that must be attacked from every direction.

In this After Burner, you've got to manage your resources a bit more closely and do your own refueling and reloading of weapons.  This could be done in a streamlined way to keep the fast pace, with a minigame to maximize what you gain from the refueling/reloading plane or base. There would also be a long-term leveling system, gradually enabling you to unlock and install upgrades and weapons loadouts for your planes.  As is usually included in my ideas for these games, there would be a livery editor for your planes and players would also have different types of hangars to choose from and decorate to keep their planes.  The hangar would naturally have the original arcade After Burner inside it.

Although the primary focus is on fighters, there could be additional types of aircraft for specialized mission objectives... bombers, recon planes, and helicopters for rescue missions.

The game's single player campaign would be set up similarly to an RPG, with a main storyline that can be advanced at the player's discretion by going to specific places and fulfilling certain requirements to trigger story elements. But there would also be the sandbox element of being able to just fly around for fun, take on side missions, and pull off aerobatic tricks for points and XP. 

The multiplayer aspect would be integrated so that you could see other players flying around in your world and you could accept or ignore challenges from them for dogfights, races or other skill challenges.  There would also be co-op missions with objectives and enemies that level up with the players.  Finally, there could be separate lobbies for more elaborate team multiplayer modes including the usual suspects -- team dogfights, capture the flag, escort missions and so on.

There were plans to spin off CRAZY TAXI but the games got canned during the early mid noughties.BORDERBREAK is being fleashed out with that mobile phone RPG game. but its only the big to mid Sega franchises that have that oppurtunity to go into different style of games, as SONIC and PANZER DRAGOON have proved.
